I have a question regarding Noriko, about something written about her on the Dutch MariMite page of Wikipedia, something I don't understand. This MIGHT be a spoiler, I have NO idea. If anyone who's reading the novels can help me out, it's very much appreciated!

MIGHT BE SPOILERISH.

The Dutch Page says this:

'Noriko is een oude vriendin van Shimako, toen ze nog de boeddhistische leer bedreef. Tot wier moeder, die weduwe was, opnieuw trouwde met een katholieke man. Na een jaar komt zij Shimako opnieuw tegen.'

Translated it means:

'Noriko is an old friend of Shimako's, from when she was still a Buddhist. Until her mother, who was a widow, married again, this time to a catholic man. After a year she [Noriko] encounters Shimako again.

My question is:
How so, Noriko is an old friend of Shimako's? Did they knew each other from before Noriko went to Lillian Jogakuen? Or is the information on this Wikipedia Page wrong?

This definitely isn't in the anime. I'm not sure about the light novels.

I just doubt the accuracy because they never mention once having known each other before Noriko sees Shimako under the Gingko trees.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's true.

an old friend o-O?

if that were to happen, the Shimako must've forgotten about Noriko then. It could be possible that Noriko met Shimako before, because she never really said anything to Shimako when they met.

It doesn't seem true to me, because there are a lot of weird spoilers over the internet O-o but if it were true then lolz xD

Yeah, it did seem like weird info to me, but the rest of the Wikipage was really decent and right information, and they also contained some spoilers from the novels. Oh well, I'll brush it off as fake info, thanks for answering!

The time frames seem odd. I mean, Shimako's parents have been dead for a while now ....

Magic Word: Wikipedia

Anyone who lurks the net often should know that Wiki isn't exactly the best place to get the most reliable intel. Anyone can write on it. So...maybe that post was a mistake by a fan or something.

yea it could be some random rumour someone made up and a whole bunch of other people actually believed it and somehow it became a fact.

Ah good call on the wikipedia, blackraptor =/

MEH sorry. Spoilers ahead.

QUOTE
Shimako's real parents died in an accident. She is being raised by her paternal grandfather. Her father had converted to Christianity and  married a Christian, so there is precedent for Shimako to want to pursue Christianity. Shimako herself doesn't care much about it.

oh my... really this is the first time i heard this..

so that is the reason why in the novel it seems that everyone is asking if the man who came to the sports festival and to hanadera is really shimako's father..

since there is no resemblance with him at all..

Spoiler too
QUOTE
Not accident , Shimako's parent died with illness. Her mother died after give birth to her about 1 month after (if I remember correctly) and her father died with illness when Shimako was 1 year old.

You can read in detail from chapter "Boku no Kyoudai" from "Margaret in Ribbon" volume.

and about friend in Wiki...
QUOTE
I think that's "Shimura Takuya". He's Noriko's internet friend and the one who suggest Noriko to go to Shimako's temple home.

Yes,yes. The one in white suit who come with Shimako's father in school festival
