Okay so just some little things

1 - Post length: Effective immediatley, all RP posts must be at LEAST 75 words. Its not that hard XD and it looks a lot nicer.

2 - Posting order: Now, there is a gap between activity of some players. Some of us can only get on for 15-30 minutes at a time (myself) while others have a lot more time (Darian XD). This is leading to points in topics where 2 people are carrying on a topic to the exclusion of other people. It is very hard to rejoin a topic when there are 5 new pages of posts. So from now on, please try to follow a posting order. I know this will require some waiting but if you want instant, quick RPing, then use the Chatroom. Kheris knows, thats what I put it there for

/minirant

Anyways, its about 1:30 am here, so I'm turning in

I'm not sure the 75 word rule is appropriate afterall, a conversation between people wouldn't work at all. In order to reach the 75 words, a large number of posts would have to have filler type in it... And we all know how annoying fillers are (those of you who don't can watch the episodes of DBZ where they spend twenty minutes charging up an attack...)

What I'm trying to say, is forcing people to say more than necessary seems ridiculous.

*nods* Yeah. Trying to pad out a post to 75 words artificially just isn't a good idea, though the concept of "Put a little more into your posts so they don't look so puny" is understood. I don't know how many people wanna sit around counting the words in their post after it's typed up to make sure it meets the minimum, but I for one don't wanna be doing that all the time. Let's just say "Try to make sure your posts have some significant content if at all possible". How's that work?

On your other point, yeah, I can see how some folks posting a lot while others aren't around to participate can make folks feel left behind. I've bene on both sides of that issue myself and I understand the concern. I'm not sure that a "posting order" is the answer though, especially since conversations don't generally work that way IRL. Maybe a rule more along the lines of "Don't post more than 2 or 3 times in a short period of time if there's other characters present who might want to participate but their players don't happen to be around". Something along those lines maybe?

You'll also note that I have dozens of posts which are 30 words or less. Also, long drawn out posts continuously will start to get repetitive, as the only way in some circumstances I can do that in RP is to be uber descriptive of whats going on... In my latest RP post, even the excess description only got me roughly 60 words and I had to add filler in the form of questioning whether or not they were going to follow.

So it seems 2 out of 3 admins (and at least one normal member) agree that the 75 word minimum isn't such a great idea. I'd feel better if it became unanimous though, but of course that'll have to wait at least until Damien next logs on.

Count another normal member as against it. I agree that the lower limit of seventy five words for a post is highly artificial and puts too large a constraint on the creativity of the role play. As has been said, there will be much padding of the posts just to reach that goal. While creative content of a role play post is a desired end, such a rule would put a damper on the posting.

>_< Well, nothing was thrown so I guess thats something

Ok, so 75 words is too high for this but can we at least go for 50?

I do some work on a couple other RP boards where 50 is the minimum and its not that hard to hit. Dialogue and description of your actions will usually hit 50. I'm just not wanting posts of nothing but dialogue....

*Throws a sponge in no particular direction*

I can live with that. I just need to use less descriptive words. Strike that, less big words that can be explained by lots of smaller words.

agreed. 50 is fine, but can we get flexibility for multi-person conversations? It's hard to do that and not dominate the whole thing with a minimum word limit.
