Nonetheless, it usually seems forced to me when I have to do things like that. Though there is something in the second one that seems sensible, namely new topics by event in a place... or something like that. Since Welcome Mat will be less of an accurate definition after the first week is over... |

both sites follow a 50 word minimum and manage to keep the flow going
admittedly, the latter of the two actually has a 100 word minimum but topics move along nonetheless |

Does it really matter how short a post is, if it adds to the flow of the RPing taking place in the thread in question? I can see not wanting derailment of RPness and the like. But even a 50 word minimum can seem a bit much in some circumstances. |

I really think there's no way to get a set limit that will work for some sorts of conversation. For example, in a conversation where two people are talking while just sitting around, there really isn't any action to describe, while the dialogue might be mainly short exchanges. In those cases, it may be hard to get up to even 50 words. However , it might be feasible to enact limits based on different kinds of posts, if you really insist on having concrete limits. |

agreed. 50 is fine, but can we get flexibility for multi-person conversations? It's hard to do that and not dominate the whole thing with a minimum word limit. |

I can live with that. I just need to use less descriptive words. Strike that, less big words that can be explained by lots of smaller words. |

>_< Well, nothing was thrown so I guess thats something
Ok, so 75 words is too high for this but can we at least go for 50?
I do some work on a couple other RP boards where 50 is the minimum and its not that hard to hit. Dialogue and description of your actions will usually hit 50. I'm just not wanting posts of nothing but dialogue.... |

Count another normal member as against it. I agree that the lower limit of seventy five words for a post is highly artificial and puts too large a constraint on the creativity of the role play. As has been said, there will be much padding of the posts just to reach that goal. While creative content of a role play post is a desired end, such a rule would put a damper on the posting. |

Fourth-ed? Well, whatever, you can count me in on that one too. |
