Pretty pleased on this one especially on the optics. About 4 thin coats for the blue and 6 on the red for the hull. The scripture could use a little more work though but I'm happy

Close up para kay cap and some wet blending... Sorry rin for the blurryness. It's hard without a tripod.

I really recommend Ebay. You can get "breakdown" kits of 2 or more sets (tanks, battleforces, squads, almost anything; just no box and no decals/transfers). If you look hard enough, you'll find them for almost 30%-40% cheaper than shelf price. You'll have to buy in bulk though (2 or more) and you'll need to use PayPal but when it comes to taxes, the items are declared less than what Amazon does, so you only pay the local post office holding fee of PhP20-PhP40.

Question, where could I get a pinning drill or really small drill bits to drill out bolter holes? Also, what is a good site to get lighting clwas for power armour? Plan ko ngayon is to make 10 LC vanguard w/ Chaplain (reroll to hit and wound, awesome!)

There's a Tamiya shop at Park Square, got a good set of hobby pin vises and drill bits there, even got sprue cutters.

As for Lightning Claw for Power Armours... Good Luck!

As a former marine player. DON'T USE VANGUARDS. Use terminators at the minimum. Vanguards are too expensive. All you need is something faster than them and they drop like flies. Terminators are straight up 40 pts with dual lightning claws and a better save. Vanguards have pretty much the same stats except for the save.

Use kayvaan shrike as a Crimson fist. I tried him out and he was really great for what he was doing. Fleet and outflanking with his squad.

BTW Really nice painting for just 3 days.

Nice. Maybe a bit on the side of the red plates as well?

For the photo size, you don't need fancy programs really, if you've got basic MS Paint on Windows, you can already resize pics. A little experimenting and you'll find a comfortable size to scale down to.

So highlighting is your preference over drybrushing?

goodjob man. very impressive for someone just starting in the hobby. i prefer heavy highlighting as well.

i suggest you weather it a bit so as not to look like it just came out of the manufactorium. it should not be professional-work weathering, i do mine rather too quick but passable.

to simulate scratches in its paint job...
* i smudge blotches of boltgun silver on random nooks/areas of the vehicle (preferably where it is most likely to get scratches e.g. hatches, fenders, raised surface).
* then i paint black around the area of the blotch to give it a sense of depth
* then i apply a very thin amount of armor wash on the silver area... just enough to make it look grimy

to simulate spill over dirt from the tracks and soot marks around the smokestack...
* i simply use Tamiya weathering kit (available in Lil's in park square makati, the one in megamall should have stocks as well). i manually do dirt on my vehicles before but this kit spoiled me since i learned about it.

@ I just paint the highlights on. Heavy highlights(thick) off regal blue on a necron abyss basecoat then fine line highlights off ultramarine blue

@ I weather all my tanks biggrin.gif I mix paint and sand + glue for real mud talaga. Dry brush some browns later.

Ill try it. Although I like my natural stuff. Not sure lang kasi because texture paint is 200 where as the sand is outside + 40 pesos na bottle of brown paint biggrin.gif

Got the Battleforce na. Will post when all is painted later smile.gif
Tactically speaking... Is it better to have 2 seperate scout squads with 2 heavy weapons or one squad lang? I have 4 snipers and a ML already. Should i put a heavy bolter on my other scouts?

you do two separate squads if you want redundancy of heavy weapons.

snipers are good at picking out high-toughness models and infantry basically. so it's better to put them on an anti-infantry role which a heavy bolter and a missile launcher (frag) can both perform.

so it boils down to choice of flexibility (missile launcher - can shift to tank hunter with krak) or amount of firepower (more dakka with heavy bolter).

i prefer the missile launcher.

I would probably stick to 2 squads. I'll use the bolter dudes to outflank and harrass and camp with my snipers.

regular scouts wouldn't be able to do much harassing... they do can pop out from the flanks or infiltrate, but the things they would run up against would most of the time be way beyond their capabilities. I suggest let them camp out back and snipe biggrin.gif

space wolves scouts, on the other hand, are annoying and can dish out some hurt biggrin.gif

agree with emcee. i thought both squads you mentioned are in snipers. it's snipers or not at all for me when it comes to scouts.

although i once toyed with the idea of a landspeeder storm carrying close-combat scouts just to hang back and capture objectives on the late game and/or mop up isolated units that have been withered down by my shooting components.

I will use all bolters now. If i do have the room for 20 more points i'll get the HB. Just the small blast poisoned seems tempting....
