Hey, so since I was very young, I've had OCD. Do any of you share the same disorder when it comes to Warhammer 40k? How do you overcome them and manage to enjoy the hobby without getting too frustrated due to the OCD?

I don't know if this is an appropriate topic so if it isn't, mods, please delete. smile.gif
Thanks!

It would help if you could tell us how your OCD affects your enjoyment of the game

for some people who are very anal (i doubt they have geniune OCD) it actually helps them as that means that they have standards that they dont compromise (no unpainted figs on the table for example)

I have 2 sets of dice cube... One black, one white... I arrange them in each cube so the colors alternates like checkers...

Does that count?

My OCD would be in the collecting, I'm not satisfied if my army is just enough for the typical army size for a game. I want to be able to field almost every option the army can do, leading me to have armies several times larger than typical size for a game.

It doesn't hurt my enjoyment of the hobby... it just hurts my wallet. laugh.gif

It's not really about the painting that I'm worried about. What I'm bugged about is something other people wouldn't even care about. Call me crazy but I recently bought a Space Wolf Battle Force and the guy who works in the store opened it up to check if it was complete. I suddenly got uncomfortable with it because I wanted to open it first. Crazy, right?! I'm just a bit frustrated. Kinda beats the whole "tradition" for me.

Any thoughts?

They do that to check if all sprue are there and correct. There are a lot of incidents that a brand new battle force had wrong parts. I once bought a Pegasus Knight... and it didn't came with wings!!!!

Yun nga lang, sana ikaw nag bukas.

What bothers me that most is that such a small thing frustrates me! Honestly, though... Does it really matter?! I guess I just want someone to tell me I'm crazy... laugh.gif

well he should have asked for your permission first but you can't blame them either, it's their S.O.P. and they're just doing their job smile.gif saves you also a great lot of frustration from your OCD in the event that you learn that some parts are missing wink.gif

I got lots and lots of unopen boxes (I don't have time). I like making my armies - same bitz - same squad.

I am planning to make "Sons of Horus" army, with the same head bitz.

I too had the habit of painting even the most hidden part of cloaks, etc...

I had to convince myself for quite some, I've been playing for years, no one REALLY ever bothered to see behind the cloak, etc.

As for my paintings, some of my previous works, though not as outstanding as those gifted with skill and patience, are quite good, with decent highlightings, effects. It takes me weeks to finish a job. Since I paint at work during off-hourse at an average of 2 hours more or less.

In real life, I'm partially with OCD, with my Dad having a daily routine, which eventually also becomes a part of me.

9:30 PM - Check mo kung sarado na ung gate at ung pinto...

Sometime between 10 & 10:30 - He goes down again, and tells me to "Check mo kung..." you know the drill.

Home security/safety is a big thing at home.

I also prefer to open the boxes myself. I just asked the store personnel not to open it. They asked if it was ok not to check it and I said yes and I took home sealed boxes which I opened at home.

I suspect, though, that it depends which store personnel are present at the time you buy your toys.

I guess if that was your choice, the store woudn't be liable if there are defects on any of the sprues...
