I finished my new wolf lord a few weeks ago and I figured that I'd show him here since I'm trying to learn how to use photobucket. The worst thing is that I had to get him at the end of 2011 and finish him in mid-January, 2012, then here comes the big announcement of GW wolves! IRONY!

Please share your comments. If I get new wolves, I'll make sure that your comments will take place when I paint those new ones. I'm just not sure what I'm gonna do with these <ahem> illegal <ahem> wolves laugh.gif

If you think it's good, please say (I took note of my flop from last year's GT-my lucky iron cross didn't get anything; well, who am I, the nobody-newbie tongue.gif ) But still, lessons learned-take painting MORE SERIOUSLY!

I don't think that you paint like a newbie... the way your figures are propely based and painted (first and last time I saw your models was on GT at xavier), you're good and you'll learn more.... smile.gif

Because previously there were no models available released by GW, people had to create their own Thunderwolf Cavalries...

Of course, concerns for legality of model's are only for MAJOR Tourneys like the GT, and of course the TOs approval.

I think that there are a lot of us. We got our wolves from Mythicast. But if things don't go well and future judges and tourney organizers don't allow our wolves for play, they're going to be put in glass display cases at best ohmy.gif

Remember.
Tournament rules are a two way street.
If the tournament organizer demands you play with only certain minis and for example forbids those cool wolves then by all means, get together with some players and tell them you wont participate.

I mean how big is the hobby where you guys live, do hundreds of players come with their armies to tournaments like over here?
If so then you need to play by their rules since they wont care if a dozen refuse to show up but if your tournaments consist of 30 players and half start to refuse to participate unless the organizers allow for a certain leeway regarding what models are and are not allowed then YOU have the power since in the end, if it is not for you then the organizers can forget about their tournament.

The second option is to organize your own tournaments or even the threat of doing so might scare the strict organizers to change their rules.

Pyriel, we support our local stores here, whether in tourneys or just casual play.

Since majority of the tournaments were and will be (might) organized by me, I would still allow those mythic cast wolves or the converted ones (we can't blame you, it took GW 3 years to produce those t-wolves), we're not that strict when it comes to tournaments. But I still recommend to support the local stores. smile.gif

personally will be playing with the real deal, it is our way of supporting the local hobby scene and is a prime example to follow.

no offense to convertionists and hobbyists.

Nice to hear. Over here it´s more you support me if i support you kind of deal as once cant live without the other so both need to accommodate.

One of our local stores where you could play was crowded by people who wanted to play tabletop games but as they closed shop quite early people didn´t always have the time to finish their games but it was ok since you could leave your things in there overnight and finish your game the next day.
People liked that, went there to paint and play and bought things from them.

Then all of a sudden the store started to refuse people to leave their minis in there over night. Today practically speaking no body ever goes there to play and the store had to stop taking in miniatures because so few people went there to buy them.

Kind if stupid on their part to loose a big business just because they stopped to accommodate players, in the end they lost on it since the gamers found other places to hand out at.

I know that the thread is dedicated to Wolves, but I still am Wolfborn. Here is the first I finished in my new army. Please comment. I've been working on these for some time and as a newbie, I'm eager to hear words of the masters among us

If you're asking, yes, some of the hulls are a bit dusty. It took quite some time for me to finish the turrets and the tank commanders laugh.gif

It may seem small, but the blue and green combo on the tank commander takes away some "+ points" on the fig.

Is it a"big" mistake? Any color suggestions?

For me it's a biggie... the thing that separates a somehow convincing/realistic fig from a "toy".

He should wear something close to or the same as the camo scheme of the tank.

Think about it... tank camo works fine, enemies can't see... then tank commander pops the hatch to look out, enemies see bright blue and green... POW... dead commander cool.gif

Not to be disrespectful kuya (and thanks for telling me about this), but that's how I themed the rest of my army-World War I, like the guy on History Channel said "the uniforms used on the battlefields of world war one were more fit for the parade grounds than the field" After all, Krieg is based on WWI (or so I read)

Thank you though for your words, which I always appreciate and respect biggrin.gif

Here are some of my infantry, to show at least a bit of my WW1 theme of "fancy parade uniform(especially officers)"

Platoon Commander (note the mud-platoon commanders lead from the front, but also note his white uniform trim! I guess he knows where to step so that the mud only affects his coat!)

Squad radio man (also nice and muddy, but in parade uniform of navy blue with red trim and khaki bottoms. Do I hear Napoleon?)
