INTRODUCTION
This league is a Head to Head format, where teams will be facing each other on a weekly basis and the stats will be counted on as games won (WINS). Scoring and Standings will be done using Yahoo. Players will/can be managed in a daily basis fashion meaning the roster can be changed on a daily basis if desired by each team. The moderating team is: Pittsburgh (Yahoo Commissioner) Montreal Lightning Blue Jackets These GM's will be in charge of the setup, running and making important and FAIR decisions throughout the regular season, off season and playoffs. Remember we are all here to have fun. We are all experienced fantasy players so we all should know how to conduct ourselves by now. SALARY CAP and DRAFTING At a to be determined date we'll have the entry draft, where the teams will draft the new prospects. It will be a regular style (1234-1234) and the order will be determined by the final regular season standings. There will be 7 rounds in the prospect draft. A 4 hour time limit will be in affect. Each GM must keep in mind that this league will have a $89.3 million hard cap. The cap is a floating $25 mil above the real NHL cap and may go up or down depending on the yearly NHL cap. This league will have a salary cap floor which will be the current cap of the NHL each year, so $64.3 is the floor. This is to help prevent tanking and make each team try to stay competitive year in and year out. This cap will be enforced throughout the season and playoffs with periodic checks from the mods. There will be penalties for any infractions by a GM if they are over the cap. Penalties can vary with the number of times an infraction has occurred; from reducing the salary cap of the team, to loss of draft picks, to the removal of the GM from the league. No matter at what time in the hockey season, the GM will incur a player's full salary. There is no pro-rating for salaries. If a player in NHL gets a $5M raise, so he gets it here. If a player signs for less, you get that benefit. We are counting base salary without bonuses or incentives. Websites useful for salary information: nhlnumbers.com capgeek.com During the offseason, players can move freely between your major, minor, and junior teams. No waivers will be in effect. OVER THE CAP PENALTIES 1st Offense - Warning and a 24 hours of notification to correct your roster. I will drop players to make your roster legit if it isn't corrected within 24 hours. They will remain your players. 2nd Offense - Loss of $1 million salary for remainder of season. I will drop players to make your roster legit if it isn't corrected within 24 hours. They will remain your players. 3rd Offense - Loss of $5 million salary for remainder of season. I will drop players to make your roster legit if it isn't corrected within 24 hours. Players dropped will go on the waiver wire. 4th Offense - Loss of $10 million salary for remainder of season or replacement. I will drop players to make your roster legit if it isn't corrected within 24 hours. Players dropped will go on the waiver wire, if manager is replaced, players dropped will still be part of your team. ROSTERS and SCORING Each team will have a 25 man roster consisting of 20 starters, consisting of: 2C, 2LW, 2RW, 6F, 6D, 2G, and a bench of 5 players consisting of whatever mix of F, D, G you want. The roster can be changed on a daily basis, meaning that any player can be subbed in at any time depending on the amount of games they play that week. This is solely the decision of each teams GM. Since we will be using Yahoo, it is very easy to do this and it allows daily control of your team. Therefore: NHL roster is 25 player to be used on yahoo. Minor league rosters can contain up to 25 players maintained on this website. Junior roster consist of the players you drafted in the three most recent entry drafts. When a entry draft year hits the 4th year mark, all players from that year must either move to your major or minor roster, or be cut. There will be 5 IR positions on yahoo, players on IR do not count against your salary cap. Scoring In a Head-to-Head League, your team squares off in a weekly match-up against another manager's to see who can compile the best stats across a number of different categories. A new weekly match-up begins every Monday and consists of a set number of games based on your league's statistical categories. Each stat category counts as one game, with the win going to the team that finishes the week with the highest total in that category (the cumulative total after each Sunday's games). So, if in a given week, your team scores more goals than your opponent's, you would be credited with a victory. However, if your opponent's team ended the week with a better GAA than your team, you would be charged with a loss. If the two teams end up tied in a given category, each receives credit for a tied game. This weekly win-loss total is added to a cumulative season record where each win counts for 1 WIN (TBD), each tie counts for one (TBD), and each loss counts for none. The total of these points is used to determine standings and playoff seeding. The scoring system will include: Offense - G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG Goaltending - W, SV%, SO, GAA, SVS Made The more categories a team wins, the more Wins the team accumulates. So there are 12 cats altogether so a team can win up to 12 games. PLAYER MOVEMENTS Each team will have at least 50 players on their total roster. These rosters can be filled by drafting (dispersal and prospect) or by adding or dumping players. All player movement during the season MUST be posted in the roster moves thread: http://z3.invisionfree.com/MLH/index.php?showforum=8 UFA signings UFA's If you want a player who isn't signed or owned by another team in this league simply propose the signing and that player is yours. After a 12 hour period, you may make another claim if you want but there is a 12 hour waiting period between UFA signings. Only 1 player can be signed per 12 hour period per team. UFA signings may be done in the off-season and regular season but not after the trade deadline and playoffs. To clarify what exactly is a UFA: 1. Players that were once drafted by an NHL team, but for some reason currently are not in the NHL but playing in Europe (or some other pro league) and therefore if signed in our league, they don't have to clear the waiver process. 2. Any player who has gone through an NHL entry draft. 3. Any players that are NON-NHL draftees, (and past the age of entry draft elig) are not eligible for our league UNTIL they are signed by an NHL team. Then they can be claimed/signed through our 48 hr waiver process from the date of the NHL contract. If not claimed after that they can become UFA. Also, once you sign a player, you CANNOT sign another player until a 12 hour holding period has expired. After the 12 hour period is over, only then can you sign another player if desired and meets roster requirements. If you don't wait the 12hr period, any Mod may delete the 2nd UFA posting without notice. Waivers At anytime during the pre-season, regular season and playoffs a team may put a player on waivers. When a team puts a player on waivers, that player will have a 48 hour period in which other teams may claim him. If that player clears waivers (48hrs) then the player is assigned to that teams minor affiliate or released out right. To post such a waiver, go to the "Waivers Drops" forum and post the player, the salary and whether he will go to the minors or be released out right. Once a player is released OUTRIGHT, he becomes a UFA. Waivers are in effect for players that are "sent down" not called up. Any player that has a salary of $1.75M or less can be sent down without going through the waiver process. All players at or above $1.75M are subject to following the waiver process. Claiming a Player off Waivers To claim a player off waivers simply post in the forum "Waiver Pickups" that you want the player. However, if that player was on the major league roster, by picking him up off waivers you must put that player on your major league roster. If you pick up a player that was on another teams major league roster, and you want to send him down to your minor system, that player must in turn clear waivers. The cycle starts over again. Waiver Priority Any team can claim a player off waivers at anytime that player is placed on waivers, however we have a waiver priority order. It is the reverse order of the the dispersal (NHL) draft. Once you claim a player off waivers, you lose your current waiver position and go to the bottom of the order. Trading Every team wants to improve and therefore trading may happen during the drafts (dispersal and prospects) pre-season, regular season and before the trading deadline (TBD). Any team may trade any combination of players and picks to another team as long as all teams involved have at least 50 players in the total roster after trading is complete. Also, if a teams trades a roster player to another team, the other team must place that player on their current roster OR place them on waivers if they have a salary over $1.75M. If minor leaguers are traded for minor leaguers then there is no worry of this but once a roster player is traded, rosters must be adjusted accordingly, both major and/or minor. All trades will be approved by at least 2 admins. A deal may be rejected if it is deemed harmful to the league or there is suspicion of collusion between 2 or more teams. We all want to win trades but we have to understand that if a team continuously loses trades, it could be a potential loss for the league. If a GM decides to cancel a deal after it has been accepted by the other GM, it can only be done BEFORE it has been approved. Even then, it will be put forth to the trade committee. Once a trade is fully approved then it becomes completed and irreversible. PARTICIPATION & OWNERS/GM's Every team/GM/Owner must maintain an active roster management system. If you go MIA, don't join discussions, etc, then your team will be forfeited to a new GM/Owner. Be active and try and make this a fun and enjoyable experience If a team needs some time for personal reasons (sick, vacation etc) then they are to inform 1 or more of the mods and it will be the responsibility of those mods to let the league know of their absence. If a manager is inactive with no response to emails, pm's, ect.. for a period of 10 days, then a replacement will be sought immediately.
