We have been trying to recover frozen cell lines. but so far, it has not been very successful. Recovering muscle cells are still quite okay, but recovering of hybridoma cells has not yet succeed even though we did this from the very beginning and had already repeat this so many times. We learn that to grow muscle cells, we had to coat collagen onto tissue culture flasks, so that these muscle cells can attach to the collagen and grow. We also helped one of the Honours student here to repeat his experiment on yeast. during our spare time, we usually will top up pipette tips.

Last week, we had to count yeast cells using hemocytometer and we count until we nearly gone blind. we had to keep recounting and recounting for each sample. we had to count four samples per hour, each sample need to be counted twice to take the average, and we had to collect samples for eight hours. to double check the results, we did extra counting for most of the samples. so in total, we counted cells for about one hundred times. we had to use microscope to count and ivy seems to enjoy counting, but huang rhoo hates it coz she dun like to use microscope. anyway, though ivy likes to count, but she also nearly gone blind.
