Introduction Dhampir are the extremely rare hybrid offspring of humans and vampires. For the mother, dhampir pregnancies are extremely difficult with a horrifying mortality rate for both mothers and children.
A myth about dhampir is that their fathers are always the vampire. Although this is generally the case, female vampires are capable of conceiving with humans though the odds are astronomical. As a general rule, dhampir with human mothers tend to be more in touch with their mortal side while those with vampire mothers tend to fall into darkness.Physical Attributes It is extremely difficult to define the abilities of one single dhampir. First of all, there are a few universal abilities all dhampir share. Dhampirs are able to recognize vampires, werewolves, and werefelines on sight in their human forms. Not only are they able to recognize those creatures on sight, but dhampir are able to see an imprint of their character and history. This ability to see into one’s soul increases exponentially when the dhampir makes eye or skin contact.
Interestingly, dhampir inherit the learned skills of their undead parent. For example, if their undead parent was an extremely good shot, the first time the dhampir picks up a pistol they can shoot as well as the parent. Unfortunately, dhampir are mortal. Although they age slowly, they will eventually die. While dhampir cannot compare to the strength or speed of a pure vampire, they are nevertheless stronger and faster than ordinary humans. It is a fact that not all dhampir have vampiric fangs. However, they all feel a certain craving for blood. Drinking blood pushes a dhampir’s powers to the max, makes them almost as strong as a vampire. Drinking blood also extends a dhampir’s lifespan. Silver has no effect on dhampir.
All other abilities associated with dhampir vary with the individual . . . including daywalking. The majority of dhampir are able to walk in the sunlight. There are those who take strongly after their undead parent and actually will die from sun exposure. Some dhampir inherit the telekinetic abilities of vampires while others do not. Dhampir are not mules and can reproduce with vampires and humans. The resulting child will be a dhampir.
