Where exactly was Joseph when this statement was made of him? He was just sold by his brothers as a slave to a bunch of Ishmaelite traders. Yet, when Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh's guard, looked at Joseph, he saw a young man destined for greatness. This youth went up through the ranks from being an Israelite slave to becoming Potiphar's steward. One could not have guessed that being thrown in prison was actually a step forward. Joseph went from a lowly prisoner to second ruler over the land of Egypt.
Our present situation is not necessarily an indication of where we are destined to be. God uses all kinds of methods and some rather strange tools to hone the bravest soldiers in His kingdom.
Take heart and serve well wherever God places you. If the dungeon becomes a part of your journey, like Paul and Silas, sing praises until deliverance occurs
(Acts 16:25-26). When those you have helped forget you, humble yourself under the mighty hand of Him who will lift you up in His own time (1 Peter 5:6). God is the one who ultimately decides your future, and as an heir and equal partner with Christ, you are already destined for a place in God's kingdom.
