Link/Marin (Marlink): This one doesn't really bother me as much as other Link ships. Link's Awakening is basically a dream Link's having, right? In the beginning of the game, Link meets Marin and immediately thinks she's Zelda (Zelda and Marin supposedly look exactly the same; the only difference is that Zelda's hair is blonde and Marin's hair is red). Technically, Marin's a dream version of Zelda.

Link/Saria (Salink): They had a great friendship, and I'm sure Link values Saria as someone who is important to him, but I seriously don't see any romance at all. It's my belief that Saria had some feelings for Link that went beyond friendship, but knew it could never happen. Link is a Hylian and will die one day, while Saria is a Kokiri, making her have immortality and endless youth. Not to mention that Saria is the Forest Sage. Salink is basically a seriously flawed ship when you think about it.

Link/Malon (Malink): I might write an essay about why I don't ship Malink. smile.gif

Link/Ruto (Rulink): No offense to Rulinkers (are there even any?), but this ship is wrong on so many levels. The fact that Ruto is a Zora doesn't even need explaining. Yes, Link and Ruto were "engaged," but Link didn't even know what he was agreeing to. Not to mention that Ruto called everything off when she awakened as the Water Sage.

Did I miss any Link ships?

You actually missed some of the TP ones... MidnaxLink and IliaxLink (and I believe they haven't been discussed yet. blink.gif )

Midna/Link: I can see happening, but I sincerely believe that they were dear friends. I mean... you can have very close friends, but NOT have the relationship... do you know what I mean? When I see this kind of shipping I don't necissarily mind, it's just that I'm not in total fandom.

Ilia/Link: Now this I DO mind... >__>;;; No offense to anyone who likes Ilia, but she's terribly annoying (*coughMalonwannabecough*)... Not only that, but I thought she was an unnecessary part of the story. (Yes, I can think of at least one or two ways about how Link could have encountered the village without crossing Ilia.) Other than that whole "Oh! reference to village!" thing... she's pretty useless when it comes to saving Hyrule from the Twilight. And what are considered to be Link/Ilia scenes... I'm sorry to say, but they're SOOO cheesy. (Epona rearing in the background?! Um...) And if Link really loved her, then why did he leave Ordon? I believe it clearly indicates that he's not coming back... there was the shot of the goat wrangler (forgot his name... again...) shouting out to the window, but Link doesn't come out, so that is kind of a "foreshadow" moment that he's never going to come back. Then of course Ilia is standing all cheesy looking, watching Link go. (YES!) Then Link rides AWAY from Ordon with the hero music playing. So, I think he walks the path of the hero. It's the "denemuet..."(?) (How do you spell that word?) moment... which indicates how the character lives his life after the whole incident. (Oh, and by the way... this situation seems to be very similar to the Navi incident. Link is probably on a quest to find Midna, just like when he was going to find Navi... but like Navi, he doesn't have the lovey-lovey relationship with her.) I'm sorry, but Link/Ilia is NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO for me. *nods*

It looks like I can write an essay on why I don't support Link and Ilia as well. XD

...So did I miss anything?

I didn't mention Link/Midna and Link/Ilia because I haven't played Twilight Princess.

Wow, dude, you went on a rampage there...Awesome!

Link/Ilia sounds like the Malink of Twilight Princess.

Maybe someone can create a thread for making essays on why we don't like certian LoZ ships.

Well, I say the relationship between Link and Midna is more of a Navi/Link relationship... Because it's the "companion" following him around. Midna's WAY more awesome though!

I think this is more like the SaLink of the game. Mainly because she comes from his home town and he has a closer relationship to her, but if you'd notice in OoT... Link gradually took more of his focus away from Saria... and as Twilight Princess goes on... his focus gradually turns away from Ilia. But I can see the MaLink... since she's the "replacement" of Malon with providing the horse and all... (Actually maybe not... it's Link's horse... she just keeps taking it without permission. angry.gif ) I'd prefer Malon, actually. >_>;;; Since I'm more accustomed to seeing her tending to Epona.

There's Link/Hena in TP! I love Hena so much. She's just so cool and reminds me a lot of Malon, with her spunky attitude. It's kind of hinted (if you squint and turn your head sideways) that Hena is attracted to Link and since I think Hena is the most precious thing ever, I was all over it.

I adore Link/Malon, always have ever since I've been in this fandom.

I'm not too fond of Link/Ruto, because Ruto annoys the heck out of me. I love Navi, but it just wouldn't work out. I mean she left him! Midna/Link = Navi/Link. And isn't Midna taller than Link in her true form? I can't get behind that if she is O.o I have a thing where I can't stand for the woman to be taller than the man. Ummm...Saria/Link would eventually make Link a pedo. But while Link is a child, I think it's cute and I could possibly get behind it.

It's pretty safe to say I am a multi-shipper.

I, too, adore Link x Hena. Hena just seems to be very outgoing and tomboyish- like a mix of OoT's Malon and Zelda. She's sporty, but she's also very feminine in appearance (body type, facial structure). She looks strong, but fragile at the same time. But eh.. I mean, in TP, Link is only 16 (as mentioned by Miyamoto) years old.. Midna and Zelda are obviously older than him... I do agree that Midna and Link had something going on, and I believe that Zelda could share the same feelings for Link after she became one with Midna... basically, they were the same person for a while, so those feelings would transfer. BUT, they both appear to be in their 20's, and that just... doesn't sit right with me. :/ And I don't like Ilia. The end.

TWW/PH, I can only see Tetra as his match. Really. Other females he meets just don't seem to be right for him.

OoT/MM-wise, I think Malon x Link is sweet, and I think Zelda x Link is the best. I don't much care for Ruto x Link because I don't think he'd be able to stand her (she's an awesome char, though), and Saria x Link is just... icky to me. I mean... she doesn't age. At all. So she could be hundreds of years old and only have the body of a child. It's just icky to imagine Link with her. DX For me, anyway. She's better as the best friend. I also think Deku!Link x Deku Princess is neat, just for the sake of being cute.

ALttP, my favorite of all, makes Link x Zelda feel right. I haven't seen him paired with anybody else from the game, so nothing to worry about.

LA's pairing of Link x Marin.... I like it. This pairing was hinted at stronger than any other coupling (aside from AoL) in the series. Marin is Link's dream-girl version of Zelda... his only chance to be with a princess is in his dreams, and he gets a small taste of that happiness. She tries to tell him her feelings multiple times, and the fact that they become best friends makes the coupling even more plausible. In fact, she's identical to Zelda (Red OR Blonde hair, pick one- both are canon. Originally, the game was in B&W, and there are two forms of official art-as in every TLoZ game- one style with red hair, another with blonde), and her personality might even be identical, too. The feeling she has of wanting to be free would be the same that a princess would feel. I didn't understand this coupling when I first played it (I was young!), but after replaying it, now I do.
--------

I won't bother going into the other games.... too many. DX

How could I forget about Link x Marin? I'm so ashamed XD. But I think Marin was more than just "Link's Dream Zelda". That just makes her sound like a Zelda clone. And I don't think she was. I said this over in the Marin topic, so I'll just quote myself.

QUOTE
...I think Link loved Marin not only because she was nostalgic by reminding him of Zelda, but also because she had a distinct personality all her own (not simply because she was a Zelda clone, which I don't think she was).

OMG!! w00t.gif I thought I was the only one that liked LinkxHena. I doubt you frequent these forums anymore, but kudos on the LinkxHena. 20.gif
