I'll sound like the XX genre of the canine species, but.. Ridiculous. Of all places! Chibi, your replies to Saami are really starting to make this thread uselessly bitter. No, I don't consider that self-defence, I consider that an offence. Self-defence would come after the attack, defending your ideas. Poking at one's patience is anything but that. You're not eight years old anymore. Do move on and leave Saami alone the same way you wanted to be left alone. Sure, what she's thrown at you weren't exactly flowers, but stop being the opposite of what you say you are: a mature person who doesn't want to encourage flaming. (Although the way you did it was more of a reverse-psychology thing... unwillingly encouraging it) Or at least reply like someone who desires to be taken seriously. It's your thread after all. A message board lives for people to share their opinions, not to start selecting who should be listened to and who shouldn't. Or do what the people who REALLY don't care do: don't even reply. Because you're failing at not caring about Saami's opinion. Please, if you want to continue writing on this forum, learn to accept opinions, ignore people when you're supposed not to care (if you tell them, once is enough, or it shows you care more than you should) and reply real arguments and opinions when you do care, not ''booo, go cry a river!'' or anything that'll make you look antipathetic. We don't expect Hubert Reeves, but even less a Zora princess. Don't know if anyone wants to smack me right now, but I couldn't find the mute button on my forehead. Nayru forgive me if I could be labelled as a mini-mod. A forum about the love between the bearer of Courage and the bearer of Wisdom shouldn't be the place for catfights and sticking your tongue out. Unless we're having a party. Last time I checked, this wasn't a party. What would princess Zelda think? I still don't get you, MalonsLover. It's not the N64 graphics the fangirls love, it's the official art. And he's a lot more attractive than the Links before him. (First of all, he ''looks'' older. Lol ) Turned on... I'm not one of those fangirls. BUT I don't see what you consider a blank stare and killer nose in the artwork. (Well, the artwork ''I'' like). On Sailor Moon, in the dubbed version that showed on TV, the two lesbians were changed: they became cousins (if my memory's correct). In the original version, they were lovers. Oh, how I've heard fans complain about that on anime forums. Toxo: Lovely pictures! I couldn't resist but to add these two. http://gallery.zeldalegends.net/categories...l-wallmusic.jpgHe looks sad, or just melancholic. Nothing even close to a blank stare, but his nose -is- pointier than some other pictures of him. http://gallery.zeldalegends.net/categories...ngwithzelda.jpgThis one needs no introduction! In my opinion, OoT and MM are still the two Zelda games with the most epic and emotional pictures. That is, however, only a matter of opinion. Can't argue my way through.

Yeah..I agree with you and Toxo that the official art makes OOT Link less creepier. As a child IN THE GAME, Link's stare makes him sort of look melancholic in a cute and cuddly sort of way. But the way OOT Link looks as an adult still seems rather freakishly creepy if you ask me.(Shivers) Basically the point I was trying to make all along is that OOT Link: forest child in a mans body, with a weirder physical appearance than his TP Link counterpart, and a fairy whirling and hovering about him makes him more of a freakish oddity when compared to the more normal looking and normally matured TP Link. Anyway thanks Toxo on your explanation. I don't know anything about Japanese trends or fads and all I basically know about Japan is that they were the bad guys in WW 2 and their ancient culture involved cool samurais and ninjas. All in all I have nothing against Yaoi/Yuri but I'm not trying to force it down peoples throats and making them like it either. I still like MidnaxZelda regardless.

All I know in Japanese is Sayonara and thats it. But its interesting that Finnish people have an interest in Japanese modern culture as some Americans do. But in my social circle nobody cares about Japan except that we know that they make quality electronics in video games/computer related stuff, decent cars, and thats where samurais and ninjas come from.
I'm cool with LinkxMarin. I have never played LA, but I've been told many times that Marin is the most hinted love interest for Link in the game.

| QUOTE (Toxo @ Feb 8 2009, 08:33 AM) | | Sooo...What do you guys think about Link/Marin? Some think that Marin is a dream version of Zelda. Remember how Link thought Marin was Zelda? Others think automatically of Malon who was based on Marin on looks, no doubt. So, comments, anyone? |
I've always thought Marin was meant to be a dream version of Zelda, but with red hair. And I find Link immediately mistaking Marin for Zelda interesting.

I hear my game call. Haven't seen the said hinted scenes myself yet, but when he does mistake her for Zelda he was just awakening from his boat misadventure. My best guess is he was dreaming of the princess and in his agitated awakening, mistook Marin for her. Maybe it was her voice (Marin has a beautiful voice, well she's supposed to, and I'm guessing Zelda too). But it sure makes it obvious that he doesn't see the princess as just some girl he's saved. According to what I've heard, the pairing is inevitable (sp?), ( SPOILER) until it turns out Koholint wasn't real.( SPOILER) Malon was suggested to be a reference to Marin (the name, the red hair, the singing, the living with her weird father, the pairing hints..) Since the l and the r in Japanese are actually the same, it could've been writen Maron or Malin. Only the i and the o are the real difference. In both cases, there's the dream and the reality. In LA, Zelda's the reality. In OoT, she's the dream girl. Whether Link does end up with her or not is up to the fan, but in all (or most) cases, Malon is easier to get. Tons of OoT-inspired fanfics love making ZeLink an impossible love affair. What better way to torture the main characters? And all the times (or most) Link's solution would be to forget Zelda and take Malon instead. Seriously though, poor Malon. Sometimes, to make Malon fans feel better, she's hooked up with a male Sheik that's-not-Zelda-but-really-a-real-guy. (Alternate Universe fics.) Personnally not a fan of that solution. I love Sheik as a way for Zelda to hide her identity, not as a separate being. Not far into LA, but what I've heard about Link X Marin pleases me. I do agree that the OoT graphics make Link look weird. I, for one, think adult Link's eyes are too small. That's why I won't mind a remake instead of a new adventure. *Dreams* On a real next-gen console. With graphics that could compete against the PS3 and XBox 360 (or rather their successors). And more Ganondorf screen-time. And bigger Lost Woods....... Anyway. That's not what the fangirls looks at when they say Link is hot. My wallpaper suggests he has nice abs. ..Not turned on. Just.. looking good! I know more about Japan than I wish I did. Our weird is nothing compared to theirs.

You've got that right. Anyway, I really enjoy Link/Marin. I've heard the idea that she is the dream-form of Zelda or something like that, but that wasn't quite the vibe I got when I played the game. She may compare to Zelda in Link's mind, but I think she's her own entity, whether she's a figment of Link's imagination or not. I do not, however, like Link/Malon. I fully support friendship between them, but nothing more, because I'm pretty convinced that he loves Zelda. In OoT, he shows more concern for her than for any other female in the game (except Saria, I would say.) BUT... I also don't think that Link and Zelda would end up together in that particular game. In Twilight Princess, Link is a rancher, which seems to hint that Link may very well have settled down with Malon eventually, if it is to be believed that TP Link is a descendent of OoT Link. Speaking of Sheik as a separate person from Zelda... I actually support this. It may sound weird, but I LOVE the idea of Sheik x Zelda. I like to believe that Sheik was once his own person, and that Zelda met him during the seven years Link was asleep. I've read some awesome fanfiction in which Sheik dies to protect Zelda and in doing so, he lends her his body/image through Sheikah magic so she can successfully disguise herself from Ganondorf. This is where my love for the rare Sheik/Zelda pairing comes from. It's far-fetched, yes, but it can work if you use your imagination. Would you say that Soul Calibur Link is the same person as OoT Link? Because he looks very nice in that artwork: http://www.freewebs.com/anironmornuruva/li...bur_2%20(2).jpg

I've already said my bit about Marin and Link/Marin. So I'll just quote myself.
| QUOTE (Saami) | Ahhh Link's Awakening, one of my favorite games (I think I'll go play it again). And I adore Marin.
But I for one certainly do not believe Marin = Malon. Especially, since Malon essentially does not exist in the ALTTP universe. Marin was meant to be an interpretation of Zelda, which of course is shown by Link mistaking her for Zelda. However, I do believe Marin was a basis for Malon i.e the red hair, love to sing, love of animals and their fathers' uncanny resemblance to each other (and Mario). So when OoT was being developed, the character designers must've understood and realized that Marin was (and in some cases still is) a popular character. So they may have decided to recreate her. Hence, Malon was born <3.
I don't believe Marin is proof of Malink (or Zelink for that matter) in OoT, for the simple fact that the two Links in the games are different Links. So Link loving Marin may mean he loves Zelda, is debatable. Because the only thing Zelda and Marin have in common is that they look so much alike that it can confuse our hero. I think Link loved Marin not only because she was nostalgic by reminding him of Zelda, but also because she had a distinct personality all her own (not simply because she was a Zelda clone, which I don't think she was).
But as far as Marin x Link proving Zelink or Malink in OoT, I just don't buy it. |

Kudos on everyones POV on LinkxMarin. Now I want to play the game to judge for myself. But from what I read there seems to be references for both Zelink and Malink which is cool with me. And I also like GanonxZelda crack pairing with bad man with good girl theme romance. How about Potion Shop GuyxMalon anyone? Though I prefer Link to be with Malon of course, I think that potion shop guy and Malon make a cute couple if Link chooses to be with Zelda or Ruto instead.
