I will agree with that statement: MM is the darkest game in the series, and TP follows behind at a close second. Reality is just going to be angsty and dark. You will notice that as the player progresses, things just seem to be getting darker and darker as Majora's Mask advances and causes more chaos. Towards the end of the game when all the giants are assembled and it's time to go after Majora's Mask, the darkness and chaos is thrown up a few notches.

Keep me updated on your whereabouts in the game - I love it!

Which is why I think the meadow in the moon (as was discussed in the Children of the Moon thread) has to be an illusion of some kind. Not only is it out of place for an evil moon (or at least a moon being controlled by Majora's Mask) to be carrying around, but it's out of place for the game as a whole.

Okay! smile.gif

And just to get back on topic (or try to), I was watching a YouTube video featuring Zora Hall, and came across a part of a quote by Japas (emphasis mine):

QUOTE (Japas)
And to top it off, Lulu just stands out back starin' at the sea. She doesn't even respond when ya talk to her.
If you guys think it's just 'cause Lulu's not interested in me, I'd understand, but I'm tellin' ya, it looks like somethin's really wrong.

The text I put in bold was what stood out to me. If Japas has a crush on Lulu, then he sounds real casual about it.

Yeah..I rmember that text on Japas as well. But hints in the game obviously point to Mikau and Lulu. Who is MM Ruto only she is not naked. I've even read a theory that Link stayed in Termina to be with Lulu. But the person with this theory was clearly a Ruto shipper so what would you expect.

You told me to keep you updated on my whereabouts in Majora's Mask, so here I am. I was FINALLY able to beat the first beaver, but I wasn't expecting the second beaver to be worse. After screaming myself hoarse after the first four tries (it's a good thing no one else is home), I decided to go back the the first day and get a bottle someplace else. It does mean I have to start the hunt for Lulu's eggs all over again (*grimaces*), but I'm starting to think that the Gerudo hideout isn't so bad after dealing with beavers for the past two weeks.

Have I mentioned how much I hate the beavers and will never return to them? Not to mention I'm starting to hate Zora Link. I don't care how cool he is while swimming, he's worse than Epona when it comes to controlling him (Epona is more awkward than anything else).

Okay, I'm done ranting. I need some chocolate milk, my throat's killing me.

I remember the second beaver gave me a little trouble but I beat him good after a couple of tries.

Word of advice: Don't swim the same way you ride Epona. To swim good with the Zora mask like I do, you have to just HOLD DOWN the A button while maneuvering with the joystick. B button is for to submerge/sink. R button is the electric force field.

If you need other free tips to improve your Zelda playing skills feel free to ask. wink.gif I got the Fierce Deity Mask, so you know I'm an expert on MM. cool.gif

I agree, Angel Zelda - the controls in MM aren't quite as finely tuned as those in OoT. I noticed that after I kept turning Epona around and around without her going anywhere I needed her to.

I'm so sorry about the beavers, though. That sucks! Like I said, you are more brave that a lot of people I know, including myself. Cave of Ordeals is as far as I go LOL.

I would highly recommend louischou's videos on YouTube for MM if you ever become stuck - they are the only reason I completed the game. :-)

Thanks again about the brave comment. smile.gif

Actually, I'm using helmers10's MM videos as my guide (his videos were the first video walkthrough I ever saw), and they're quite good. I know this will sound weird, but I like his voice; it's so calm and patient, like a mentor.

I agree that riding Epona in MM took a little while for me to adjust. But I think it was more mental as I was a little thrown off by the cute and cuddly Link riding baby Epona. My advice on how to get good at controlling Epona in MM a little better is to practice horse archery in shooting arrows at the skulls hovering around at night outside the town. Also the balloon mini game at the Cremia ranch and the subquest of protecting the ranch from aliens is also a good way in improving on control of Epona IMO.

I myself have thought about doing these You Tube tutor videos as soon as I upgrade this cheap dial up. angry.gif Angel Zelda: if your still doing the Gerudo thieves fortress, the only thing you have to worry about is having good stealth and archery skills to get around the patroled areas, and blocking and countering when you engage in the one on one swordfights. wink.gif

Well, I have the Stone's Mask, which makes the Gerudo Fortess part a whole lot easier than if you don't have it.

But I'm taking a break from the main quest right now. Instead, I'll try to see if I can get a bottle from the Gorons and maybe even upgrade my sword.

If you can upgrade by getting the blacksmith on Snowpeak to use the gold dust to reforge your current sword, then the rest of the game should be relatively easy. But yeah...I recommend the stone mask if you want to breeze through the Gerudo fortress area without a doubt.

Good news! I got the bottle from the Gorons, which was easier to get than the bottle with the beavers. I also upgraded my sword twice, and I now have the Glided (sp?) Sword.

A little late, but hurrah for playing MM! It's one of my favorites, and yes, fairly dark.

But like you, I've always wondered about the Miku/Lulu connection. I'm assuming that by now you've gotten past the Water Temple area, so I can freely talk about that part? If not, there will be spoilers in what I'm about to say!!

Japas does give hints that Lulu rejected him in favor of Miku, and I think the other members of the band also comment on it. Some of the Zoras also speak of the closeness that they have, enveying that Miku gets to be with Lulu so much. Lulu's diary also hints that she shares a close bond with him too, as does Miku's as well. That and the scene you get when you get Miku's Mask, that scene of the two of them holding hands. . .

I think it's pretty safe to say that Miku and Lulu were in a relationship and that he's the father of her children. I can't imagine anyone else being that person- Lulu is talked about as being a private person, so the fact that she's obviously very close to Miku and trusts him speaks volumes.

I've finally learned the song that lets you get to the Water Temple (I can't remember what it's called at the moment), so you don't have to worry about spoilers, Alantie. smile.gif

And I've been talking with the band members, and like I said earlier in this thread, Japas does hint, if not state outright, that he was rejected by Lulu in favor of Mikau (he does say something like, "If it was just because she's not interested in me, I'd understand..."). Also, when Evan asks you if you want to know Lulu's secret, if you tell him no, he'll say something to the effect of, "Oh, because you and Lulu don't keep any secrets." (Although he could be just being sarcastic.)

And yes, the Lulu fanboy you can give pictographs to does say that he's jealous of Mikau for being able to see Lulu everyday. But that's interesting about Mikau's diary, Alantie; I guess I'll have to read that again.

All this talk is making me want to play MM again!

A bit off topic, but I think WW, not TP comes in second at being the darker Zelda story. Cartoonish graphics aside, the story basically revolves around the destruction of Hyrule, which isn't the most cheery of subjects. I'm fully confident that if WW had been made with TP style graphics, it would have seemed darker than MM.

ANYWAY, back on track, I always figured that the reason Mikau fought so hard (and eventually died) to retrieve Lulu's eggs was because they were his too. Even if female Zora can fertilize eggs without the help of a male, the fact that Mikau was willing to give up his life for the stolen eggs spoke volumes. Why would he do such a thing if he didn't care?
