| QUOTE (Twilight Mistress @ Jun 4 2008, 03:48 AM) | | lol They probably do enjoy fighting with one another. I've just recently started watching Ranma 1/2 and I absolutely love the relationship between Ranma and Akane. Not only does it remind me of Inuyasha and Kagome (partially because Ranma 1/2 was created by Rumiko Takahasi, the one who also created Inuyasha), but it is also amusing to watch. lol It's like watching Inuyasha and Kagome in an alternate timeline. |
That sounds cute. You know, one of my favorite couples is Aang and Katara from Avatar: the Last Airbender, and I think it's like watching Inuyasha and Kagome in a different universe. Aang and Katara don't argue a whole lot, but their relationship and the situations that they get into (as a couple and as indiviuals) are similar to Inuyasha and Kagome. How much do you want to bet that Inuyasha and Kagome's arguments turn into flirting and/or playful banter?

| QUOTE (Twilight Mistress @ Jun 5 2008, 03:51 AM) | | lol They purposefully pick fights with one another. As time goes on, though, their relationship strengthens and they're more serious with one another. That's why I love that one scene in the manga; I actually never thought that Inuyasha would have the guts to portray how he felt about her. He swore to her that he would protect her, no matter the cost. They probably would have kissed if they weren't interupted. |
Quite frankly, I'm sure that even if Inuyasha never actually told Kagome in words that he would always protect her, he still would be willing to protect her no matter what, even if it meant losing himself in the process. Inuyasha always struck me as the kind of guy who uses his actions rather than his words to let Kagome know how he feels about her--the whole saying of, "Actions speak louder than words."

| QUOTE (Twilight Mistress @ Jun 6 2008, 04:12 AM) | | Agreed. He's not very strong with words, which is one of the reasons for why they're always fighting. lol I just thought it was cute that he actually told her he would protect her. He's really never said anything like that to her before. |
Yes, it's very cute. Inuyasha's growing up! *tears* And maybe another reason why Inuyasha doesn't use words to tell Kagome how he feels about her is because he thinks it'll make him look like an idiot? A random thought: Wouldn't it be funny if Inuyasha just blurted out those three little words to Kagome while they were arguing?

I read the last chapter of Inuyasha, too, and I gotta say (highlight to read), Kagome living in the feudal era and becoming a full-time priestess was something that I expected, so I'm happy I was right about that. It's a shame we don't get an InuKag love confession, or even a kiss, but Kagome does call Sesshomaru, "brother-in-law," when he comes to visit Rin, so Inuyasha and Kagome are obviously married. (YAY!) I imagine there was plenty of time for all their pent-up emotions to be finally released (if you know what I mean!), even if we never actually saw it.

HIGHLIGHT -- She does call him brother-in-law! I must have missed that somehow... And then again, Souta DID say that she was going to get married, but at the time I thought it was just another exuse to dissmiss the fact that Kagome was no longer in her world. In any case, I'd say that Inuyasha and Kagome knew all along how the other felt. I mean, they're no longer embarrassed to do certain things with each other. They're actually pretty mature! ^^ The only thing that I wonder about is whether or not Kagome still feels that she's second best compared to Kikyou, because she is, in a way, filling in Kikyou's spot, if you know what I mean. I also wonder what they would do about aging, simply because Inuyasha is technically immortal and Kagome is human, which means Kagome will eventually grow old and Inuyasha will be left behind... Anyway, on a brighter note, they're together at the end! ^^

Highlight-- No, I don't think Kagome feels like Inuyasha's simply settling for her or that he thinks she's another Kikyo. After all, he's told her time and time again that "Kagome is Kagome." Really, I don't think Kikyo's going to be a problem in Inuyasha and Kagome's marriage. (But if Inuyasha caught some guy (even if the guy was drunk) hitting on his Kagome, that's another story. )
As for the aging business, I'm not really sure. I once imagined it to be an Aragorn/Arwen situation. Yes, Arwen gives up her immortality to be with Aragorn, but she still lives on for ages and ages after his death and eventually dies of a broken heart. That might be what will happen to Inuyasha when Kagome dies--he (in the words of Elrond) "will linger on, in darkness and in doubt ... until all the world has changed and the long years of [his] life are utterly spent."
Ugh, that was despressing (but somehow pretty) to write. But on a more lighthearted note, it'd be really funny if Inuyasha and Kagome are being affectionate with each other, and Shippo says, "I think I liked it better when they were arguing."

| QUOTE (Twilight Mistress @ Jun 20 2008, 11:13 PM) | lol Yeah, it would be cute if Shippou said something like that. It would be typical coming from him, because it would mean that Inuyasha would get a pretty nasty "sitting". You know, I actually kind of miss the arguing because it was funny to watch Inuyasha's face being driven into the ground. |
That's basically what the sit command is for--to give people something to laugh at. One of my favorite sit moments is in episode 100 of the anime. During this episode, Kagome, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo are trapped inside a cocoon and are being tortured by nightmares of their worst fears. Inuyasha's trying to break the cocoon and get the others to snap out of their dreams, and he dares for Kagome to tell him to sit. At the end of the episode, after everyone's been saved, Inuyasha pesters Kagome to sit him, so she does. Hmm...sounds like Inuyasha secretly enjoys Kagome sitting him?
