I guess I will go ahead and give my fics a place here. I mean you don't have to read them if you don't want. This is general Zelda fiction right? If it's Zelink fiction only, I'll kindly delete this thread.

Anyway, here we go. First fic of the thread is:

Fic inspired by this image: CLICK

And yes I did name my fic the same thing, cause I'm lazy and suck at coming up with titles. Hope you enjoy. Also for het_challenge on Insanejournal.

Title: The Castle Garden
Author/Artist: Saami
Fandom: LoZ: OoT
Pairing: Link/Malon
Rating: G
Author's note: It gets kinda sloppy and rushed at the end because this fic was slowly becoming tl;dr and I had a deadline.

The orchestra had begun to play a strangely sweet melody and it danced and swirled into the air of the palace. Couples of all ages, dressed in fine silk and satin graced the marble dance floor and began twirling about in patterns; the women’s dresses flaring about behind them as their dance partners guided them gracefully across the floor.

Malon felt so out of place there, among all the elegant dresses and distinguished suits. Her dress was not in itself as fancy or elegant, or intricately embroidered as the others. It was a dark emerald green, accented by gold trims about the sleeves and neckline. The neckline itself dipped down just a bit, revealing the tanned skin beneath. Invisible straps, hidden beneath small ruffles, kept the dress securely in place as Malon took several steps forward, her heeled shoes clanking against the marble floor as she did so.

This was a party for Link. He had been gone for nearly three years, having been sent off on some important (and equally perilous) mission by Princess Zelda. And now with him back home safely, Zelda wasted no time in announcing to the entire kingdom that a ball would be given in his honor. The men had cheered and admired Link when they saw him standing on the dock, donned in his green tunic. Despite the old appearance of the fabric, Link looked so regal. The women swooned (earning a noticeable envious scowl from their men) as he stepped down from the dock. Malon had been in that crowd. And she liked to think that just for a moment he had searched that crowd for her before being whisked off in some carriage to the castle.

She liked to imagine that he hadn’t heard her when she called out his name, when she waved her arms to get his attention and he turned away, that he didn’t see her. The crowd was too large and rowdy for him to see her. And that was the only answer she would believe. Because Link would not simply ignore her. He wouldn’t.

A silence fell over the crowd, and Malon straightened pressing her palm against the wall she had been casually leaning against. There were soft clanks on the marbled floor before the soft frame of Princess Zelda appeared on the summit of the first set of stairs. She looked more regal and formal than any there, her dress of a light shade of pink and graced with golden Triforces. Malon released the breath she realized she had been holding when Link didn’t appear by her side. Zelda began speaking, her soft lilting voice floating through the air. Malon listened silently, wondering if a scowl was visible on her face. She thought so, because she noticed a woman in the crowd, giving her such a strange look before turning her head away.

With Zelda’s speech concluded and Link’s praises sang, the Hero of Time appeared, almost from nowhere by Zelda side, dressed in a newer green tunic and fresh white leggings and shiny brown boots. Malon had to turn away; Link looked nothing like what she remembered. He didn’t even carry himself the same as she watched him take Zelda’s hand and led her down the stairs.

The orchestra began again, this time a softer rendition of Zelda’s Lullaby began to play. The floor filled again, with couples of various ages. Link and Zelda remained in the middle, taking small circles around the floor. She could hear the whispers then. How the other women thought Link and Zelda made such a cute couple. Of course, it only makes sense. The Hero of Time and Princess of Destiny. There simply wasn’t a better match. Malon bristled. They were treating Link as if he were some invalid, incapable of making his own decisions. What if he didn’t want to be with Zelda? What if he wanted to do something else? Besides, Link had lived on the ranch with her and her father for almost two years before he even left on that mission. He was her best friend. She knew him inside out and was quite certain Link would never be satisfied with such a dull and complicated life in the castle. Of course, being cooped up behind the ranch walls didn’t seem like such a wonderful alternative either.

He was a Hero, born and raised. He knew only adventures with danger at his back and sword in hand. And that probably explained why he would sometimes take Epona and disappear for days at a time back when he did live on the ranch. Malon sighed. There was so much more Zelda could give him than she could. Zelda could go on adventures with him. Give him the excitement and danger he knew.

Malon’s life was much simpler when it came down to it. Though one couldn’t necessarily describe her life as easier. It was just simpler, mundane, routine. She didn’t have prophetic dreams, or the knowledge of ancient artifacts stored away in ancient monuments. She didn’t have a piece of the Triforces embedded in her hand. She didn’t even have a fancy title after her name. And there wasn’t going to be one until after her father died (Goddesses forbid) and the ranch became hers officially. Malon was just a farm girl, plain and simple. And maybe Link deserved something more. Much more than she could give him.

She forced a smile when she saw him coming toward her, a teasing grin playing at his lips. “Hey you,” he said, finally reaching her.

Malon took a deep breath and her fake smile grew. “Did you enjoy yourself?”

Link shook his head, his blond hair moving as he did so. “After six months, I was ready to come home. These old bones just don’t work like they use to. And besides, I was rather homesick.” His smile seemed genuine and there was a strange gleam in his eye. Malon felt her heart flutter and she cursed herself.

“So what do you plan to do now, Fairy Boy?”

“Zelda asked me to stay in the castle for a day or two. But I have every intention of getting back to the ranch. Unless…you’ve replaced me.”

Malon peered up at him, and noticed he a smattering of freckles on the bridge of his nose. And he had flecks of hazel in the sea of blue he called his eyes. Malon quickly composed herself and smiled. “That’s the only reason I am here. To make sure you’ll be returning to your post and we won’t have to go looking for replacements,” she lied.

Link sighed, masking his disappointment in her statement with a faux smile. “Yes, I’ll be back to work with you,” he said softly. Malon’s shoulders heaved and the orchestra began again. This time playing a strangely familiar melody. “…My mother’s song?” She asked, looking up at Link, who’s expression changed quickly.

He smiled proudly at her and gently took her hand. “I asked the orchestra to play it sometime tonight. I’ve always wanted to dance with you to it.”

Malon blushed and allowed her friend to lead her onto the dance floor. The other couples had stopped to watch, as they listened to the unfamiliar, yet enchanting melody haunt through the air. Link held her close, a much closer than he held Zelda, but still far enough away that Malon wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. She hummed softly as he guided her along the dance floor, his fingers making tiny circles along her spine. She shivered in his arms and as the music hit the melody, Malon gazed up at him and her blue gaze matched his. The world around them seemed to melt away, leaving only Malon and her Hero.

“Stay with me…” Link whispered softly as the music continued to dance and swirl around them, like cherry blossoms carried on the wind. For a moment, the brief euphoria blocked out the reasoning of her mind but it eventually caught up with her and as the music faded into the chattering of the guests. Malon stopped, staring at Link for a moment.

“What do you mean?” she asked softly.

He moved toward her, only for her to back away from him. “Tell me what you mean!” she demanded, earning a few onlookers.

Link blinked several times, unsure of why Malon was acting this way. “Malon…I want you to stay with me. I…” his voice trailed off, his next sentences failing him completely. He was bewildered, at a lost as to why she was being this way.

Malon said nothing more and turned on her heals to walk away. “Malon? Where are you going?” Link called after her.

She did not answer, instead grabbing hold of her skirts and bolting toward the stone doors, sealing the exit. The doors refused to budge and Malon cried, tears streaming down her cheeks, before she noticed the doors leading to the garden were open. She passed through them quickly and ran the garden-like labyrinth, taking random twists and turns.

“Malon! Stop! Wait a second!”

The closer his voice got, the harder Malon tried to get away. She couldn’t face Link, not now. And yet she found herself stopping when he grabbed her arm and pulled her back toward him. “What’s wrong? Why did you just run out like that?” Link demanded.

Malon shook her head, refusing to answer. “How can I fix the problem if you won’t tell me what’s wrong?” Link reasoned. He had to get her to talk. “Please Malon, just talk to me.”

“You want me to stay with you!”

“Yes, of course.” Link nodded in affirmation

“Why?”

He paused, unsure of how to answer. “…. Because I care about you Malon. I love you and want you with me.”

Malon’s hands curled into fists, and she felt the tears coming once more. “I need you to look at me, Link. Really look at me.”

“I am looking at you, Malon.”

“I can’t give you what you have here. I can’t give you fancy parties and adventures and prophetic dreams. I don’t have that. I’m just me!”

Link tilted his head to the side as Malon continued to speak. “I need to know, is this enough? Can this be enough for you?”

He looked back at the castle before turning to Malon once more and smiling softly at her. He took her hands in his own and gently drew her closer. “I dream of no one else but you. I don’t need any of this. All I need is you.”

Malon bit her lip as Link drew her in, closer to his chest and wrapped his arms about her waist. She sobbed softly, gently slipping her arms through his and resting them on his back.

“Stay with me…”

Title: In Which We Change
Author/Artist: Saami
Pairing: Link/Malon
Rating: G
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
Theme: #20 - The Road Home
Disclaimer: Link, Malon, and LoZ: OoT is not mine. I simply use them for my amusement. Plz don't sue, kthxbai.

The rolling hills of Hyrule were stretching out before him, touching the powder blue sky like gentle fingers. The clouds were fluffy and bright, adding the faux air of peace. There was no peace to be had in this land. The fight had been long and hard, but the prize well worth it. A shiny bright blue medallion clanked together with the red and green ones secured safely in the small satchel attached to his hip. And another Sage had been awakened, adding force behind his sword and making the raw power of the Master Sword all the more apparent.

And now it was time for rest. Link gripped Epona’s reins wearily as he urged the horse onward, away from Lake Hylia and the burdens that came with the title “Hero of Time”. The path was worn and the presence of footprints was mixing in with Epona’s hoof prints. The land marks of Hyrule had changed, Link noted to himself as their trek continued onward. The changes were minute in comparison to Ganondorf’s floating leviathan that had once been Hyrule Castle. But the small changes were the ones that screamed the loudest to the Hyrulian hero. The trees stood different and Link noticed. The sky, though blue and majestic as it stretched on into forever, was different and Link noticed. Even the way the sun rose was different…and of course, Link noticed.

Princess Zelda was not immune to the effects of the changes to the country. Link still remembered well her porcelain face that day, etched with terror and uncertainty as she looked back at Link with pristine blue eyes. Link was worried for her. She was after all his friend and the reason he journeyed in the first place. Though he had no doubts that Impa had whisked Zelda off to safety, he still couldn’t help but worry.

Despite the many changes ravishing Hyrule, there was one stabilizing force. And Link wrapped his very sanity around it, holding on to it as a lost child would to its found parent. The walls surrounding his “stability” became apparent and small involuntary smile graced the hero’s lips. No, it was not the ranch itself that kept him grounded, peaceful and calming as it was. It was the fiery redhead. She was what kept him stable and alert and sane. Had it not been for her and her attentive and caring hands, Link would surely have give out after the Fire Temple.

He relied on Malon much more than he thought he should. Navi was after all his companion and helper. But she was naught compared to Malon and her bright fiery hair (how Link loved her hair). Epona’s speed shifted into a light gallop as the trio (Navi sleeping soundly in one of the empty pockets of his bag) entered the ranch. The air was silent, save Talon’s reassuring snore. Blue and attentive eyes surveyed the landscape for a moment, taking in each and every detail. Link knew this place as he did the back of his hand. But each visit brought on a new discovery of sorts. And that was what made him love Lon Lon Ranch so, the unpredictable predictability of the place. He knew every nook and cranny, but they still seemed so unexplored and new.

The silence was then shattered by the sound of a twig snapping beneath the weight of a person. Link turned, his hand gripping the leather binds of the hilt of his weapon, ready to attack if necessary. And then his dominant arm and hand return to his side as his smile grew. There was his stability, standing before him, silver pails glistening with the rays of a fresh sunrise. Malon stood there, shocked; the morning wind whipping her freshly brushed red hair about her face and neck. And with haste, she dropped each pail, spilling the contained milk all over the grass.

The farm girl ran with all her might toward her hero and threw her arms about his neck. “I’ve missed you!” she cried, not caring if she disturbed her father or Ingo. Link did not mention the fact that his ribs were bruised or that Malon was gripping him just a little too hard. No this moment was too…perfect to be ruined by such things. He wanted to hold on to Malon, for fear that she would slip from his grasp if he let her go.

“I’ve missed you too, Red.” The endearing nickname passed through his lips, causing Malon to shudder wonderfully beneath his arms. He so loved these tender moments.

Malon pulled back, her dark blue eyes studying his torn tunic and fresh wounds intently. “You have to rest now,” she said softly as her hand brushed against a gash on his arm.

Link grimaced slightly before shaking his head and smiling down at his friend. “I’m fine. I have to hurry to the next temple,” he replied.

Malon remained firm in her decision. Link was going to rest whether he liked it or not. He was in no condition to be fighting monsters or the like. “You do not have to always be brave, Link,” said Malon in her loving voice. She fussed over him so much. Link loved it. His hand migrated southward, coming to rest at the farm maiden’s back.

“Oh but I do,” he said softly, resting his forehead against Malon’s.

She blushed lightly and tried to smile despite her nervousness. “If I was not, I would not have the courage to do this…” And with those words, he leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers in a gentle and loving kiss. Malon’s stomach fluttered wildly as the butterflies tried desperately to escape. She and Link had only shared one other kiss of this nature. Epona and Lon Lon Ranch itself had been saved from the evil that was gripping Hyrule. Nether of them had actually meant for it to happen... and yet it felt so good and right.

This moment, though unrehearsed by either party felt the same as the previous, but with more passion and fire and…could it be? Love? Link pulled back slightly, a satisfied smile on his mouth. “I think I will stay a while…” he said softly. Malon’s cheeks burned before she turned to lead him into the house and his waiting guestroom.

These are for 1sentence on insanejournal (which I happen to mod). Enjoy.

Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Pairing: Link/Hena
Theme set: A
Rating: G - PG-13 (just to be safe)

#01 - Slow
Hena's instructions are still fresh in Link's mind; "Draw in the line slowly, or you'll scare away the fish."

#02 - Steady
The canoe rocked to and fro as Link paddled it through the waters of the fishing pond alone and he wishes he had spent the extra eighty rupees to hire Hena as his guide.

#03 - Breathe
Hena doesn't realize she is holding her breath when Link is close to her and she could quite easily reach out and touch his green tunic; and he smiles and laughs and doesn't notice that she is about to faint.

#04 - Relax (companion to 15, 29)
"Just relax and you will be fine," Link whispers to her; And it is easy for him to say, he is the great Chosen Hero of the Gods and was used to invitations to royal balls, while she was nothing more than a common lady who ran a fishing pond.

#05 - Friends
They were fast friends and this made the transition into lovers slower, sweeter, and well worth it in Link's opinion.

#06 - Candle
Hena laughed as Link blushed a bright red, embarrassed that the match had burned his finger while he was trying to light a candle.

#07 - Light
Link and Hena had spent the entire night talking and were only disturbed by the bright rays of the sun peeking through the curtains.

#08 - Stars (companion to 48)
Time often found them sitting on the dock, hands barely touching and trying to count the stars.

#09 - Sunrise
There were never any customers in the early mornings, when fishing was usually the best, so Hena was surprised to see the Hero as he stepped through the newly unlocked door.

#10 - Daylight
As the first rays of daylight filtered through the window of Hena's cottage, she awoke and smiled at Link's sleeping face.

#11 - Stroll
During their occasional strolls through the small village, Hena finds the Ordon provence to be calming and exciting and quaint; and she muses to herself that living here with Link might not be so bad.

#12 - Food
Hena gladly shared some of her lunch with her regular customer; but he always surprised her with the shiniest, freshest apples she had ever had and she wondered how in the world did he know that she loved apples?

#13 - Rain
Rain didn't stop the hero from making his usual stop at the fishing hole and Hena was glad as they sat together in front of the small fire he had built for them.

#14 - Emotions
Hena had never let her emotions get the better of her; And yet as Link turned to leave, she found herself calling his name and tears streaming down her cheeks.

#15 - Dance (companion to 04, 29)
Link's hand was pressed into the small of her back and as he guided the inexperienced female dancer across the marble floor, she couldn't help but notice how right everything felt.

#16 - Lost
Hena gazed up at him, lost in the seas of blue he called eyes and she felt her heart flutter wildly as he leaned closer to her with lips parted slightly.

#17 - Letter (companion to 37)
Hena smiles when Iza brings her an evenlope with her name written in the loopy letters of Link's sloppy handwriting and she has to wait until (nosey) Iza leaves so she can enjoy his tales of adventure and his words of his endearment.

#18 - Colors
His eyes were blue and always looking off into the distance; Hena's eyes were of the same shade and searching for Link's presence.

#19 - Soul
Link had become a part of her, a delicate piece of her soul that she cherished and adored and kept close to her heart.

#20 - Binds
All of Hyrule's hopes for the future were bound and tied up inside of this one man who wore a green tunic and the weight of the future was on his shoulders; and only when he was with Hena did this burden on Link's shoulders lighten.

#21 - Links
History scrolls were scattered about the floor of Hena's home and she and Link read together the recorded history of Hyrule's previous Chosen Heroes.

#22 - Music
Link had stumbled upon the scene quite by accident; Hena sitting on the dock, her boots and socks removed, her slender legs dipped into the cold water and a bobber fishing rod in her hands and her singing softly.

#23 - Drinks
Hena had never tried Ordonian milk before – having never been to the Ordon Providence - and as she took a quiet sip, she looked over at Link and felt her heart soar as he smiled when she told him she loved it.

#24 - Hot
Hena felt the heat spread through her body, starting from the top of her and spreading down to the tips of her toes, as Link gently kissed his way down her torso.

#25 - Cold
The pond was frozen solid and there was no real reason for Link to be there; and yet there he was sharing in a snowball fight with the fishing hole's owner.

#26 - Conversation
Link was always so secretive when it came to his past and Hena would often wish he would talk to her, share something that made him who he is and what drove and fed his courage; "Link, I --" She is cutoff and he speaks slowly, "When I was born..."

#27 - Blanket
Hena slept peacefully in his house in Ordon and Link pulled the blanket up around her bare, slender shoulders.

#28 - Jewelry
Hena never wore jewelry; and yet Coro and Iza never saw her without a silver necklace with a charm fashioned into the shape of a wolf given to her by the Hyrulian Hero.

#29 - Pride (companion to 15, 04)
As Link entered the ballroom with Hena on his arm, his face beamed with pride and the other guests noted how regal the two looked.

#30 - Lace
Link awakens the next morning to find his bed occupied and he smiles as her brown hair sweeps across her back.

#31 - Curious
It was curiousity that drove Link to enter the fishing hole in the first place, but it was Hena that kept him coming back.

#32 - Windy
Hena's brown curly hair had been let loose from her standard ponytail and Link smiles as he watches it be carried on the wind.

#33 - Parents
Neither had parents to speak of and yet, Link felt his stomach knot up in nervousness as Iza and Coro studied him and Iza spoke up, "So what are your plans with our sister?"

#34 - Duty
Hena never understood the duty that came with the title Chosen Hero; she only knew that it kept Link away from her.

#35 - Crying
Link felt his heart break when he saw Hena (the first time in two years) and she cried for him.

#36 - Share
Link always found Hena easy to talk to and confide in and he wondered why he had never bothered to open up to her before.

#37 - Keep (companion to 17)
Hena's letters were sweet, her words like honey and Link kept them close to his heart.

#38 - Close
He shut the door behind him and marveled at the many nick-nacks around the room; but the most intriguing was the girl behind the counter with the entrancing blue eyes.

#39 - Simplicity
All the couple had ever known was simplicity and easy (independent) living and found this new (married) life together rather difficult to adjust to.

#40 - Grave
The world was seemed so empty when he was not there with her.

#41 - Tomorrow (companion to 42)
Iza nearly toppled over from the weight of Hena when she informed the youngest sibling that Link was returning tomorrow.

#42 - Run (companion to 41)
She ran to him and leaped into his arms; he twirled her around and wished that time would stand so he could live in this moment forever.

#43 - Flying
Link could do anything and Hena blushed at his answer when she asked him if he could fly; "Yes. When I am with you."

#44 - Whisper
"I love you, Hena..." Link whispers with blue eyes staring at a particuarly interesting knick in the floorboard.

#45 - Window
During the early days of their friendship, Hena often found herself at the window and watching her new friend fish from the dock.

#46 - Apologies
Hena mentally apologizes to Link as she stands at distance with a rather mean scowl on her face and watches him speak with his childhood friend, Ilia (and she has to remind herself that they are friends and nothing more).

#47 - Bugs
Link had his arm drawn back and his boomerang in hand as he aimed at the beehive hanging securely from the porch's roof; Hena stood by his side, her hands on her hips as she spoke, "They're gonna sting you if you're not careful."

#48 - Sleep (companion to 08)
Link found that he very rarely left the fishing hole at a reasonable time; it was always well over into the night, when Hena should be sleeping and he should be traveling to his next destination.

#49 - End
Link had never given much though to settling down with anyone and so he found strangely refreshing that whenever he came home, Hena was there waiting with a warm smile and comforting embrace.

#50 - Doors
Hena was breathless as she felt Link press her against the door, kissing her neck gently; and the hanging fish decoration pressed into the flesh of her back (making rather unsightly marks in her flesh) before she politely asked if they could move to another part of the room.

I'll admit I only read "The Castle Garden" - I'll get around to the other two at some point - but I found it sweet. Malon's dilemma as a simple girl in a different world is portrayed adequately, and you give weight to Link's choice, which was a good move in terms of establishing reader appreciation for the ending.

I only skimmed "In Which We Change," but what I did read seemed to do a solid job in terms of atmosphere, the whole 'unpredictable predictability' bit particularly standing out.

I'd suggest separating your next fics into different posts. It might make it easier to know when one piece begins and the other ends.
