The Prisoner SirJoshizzle
A fugitive. A runaway. A shadow. A Prisoner.
All of those things are what have become of me, Princess Zelda.
It's been... Goddesses, I don't know how long since Ganondorf launched his coup-de-tat on Hyrule Castle. I'm willing to bet a couple of years. At least that's how long it feels like. Locked in a cottage deep within the Lost Woods with Impa, hiding from the Dark Lord, awaiting for his return.
Link.
He'll come. I'm sure of it. It's his destiny to face Ganondorf. It's been etched into the cloth of time... But why hasn't he shown?
He couldn't have been killed. Yes, he was just a boy when I met him and saw him last. But he went through perils I bet make even the soldiers of the Hylian army quake in their boots--all as a boy.
Wherever he is, I am sure he is safe. I don't know him very well, but I know him well enough to know that it will take a lot more than a little intimidating glance from Ganondorf to bring him down.
I have faith. I have faith that Link will come to save us all. He will free Hyrule from the barren wasteland it has become. He will free the Triforce and the power of the Goddesses from the Dark Lord's dirty hands. He will free the Sages from their tumultuous slumber and awaken them, just like the prophecy has foretold so long ago.
Most of all... I have faith he will free me, Princess Zelda, from the fugitive, the runaway, the shadow, the prisoner... that I have become.

Theme #23: Freedom Words: 368 Title: Riding
“Sir, have you seen her Royal Highness?” a breathless soldier asked the green clad man who was grooming his fire colored mare in the royal stables.
Link looked up, started. “Princess Zelda? No, I’m afraid I haven’t seen her today.”
The guard groaned, sighing as he ran a handkerchief over his sweaty brow. “I swear, I spend half my rounds looking for her.”
“She ran off again?”
“Again,” was the weary affirmation. “Third time this week. Apparently the Princess slipped out when she was supposed to be having her history lesson.” The soldier shook his head. “Well, keep an eye out for her, sir. I better keep looking.”
“Good luck to you,” Link responded, chuckling softly once the man had jogged out of sight. He put the currycomb back in its proper place then walked up to Epona, taking her face in his hands, stroking her velvety nose as he spoke to her softly. “What do you say, girl? Feel up to chasing after our wayward Princess?”
Only minutes later they were galloping through Hyrule field, the breeze whipping the mare’s white mane back and Link’s hat flapping in the breeze. A laugh bubbled free, and he grinned happily. No matter how much he had come to love the Castle and town, he still loved wide open spaces and nature more. Something in his soul seemed to crave it, and he suspected that the same went for the Princess. Speaking of which . . .His sharp sapphire eyes caught sight of movement nearby; a gray mare was racing along the foot of the hill, a young woman bent low over her neck.
“Oi! Zelda!” he called out, cupping his hands around his mouth.
Startled, she straightened, reigning in her horse and turning her about. However, when she saw who called her, her face broke into a wide smile, lifting her hand in greeting. Her sunlit blond hair was mussed by the wind, her clothing simple cotton instead of the silk and satin that she was normally attired in.
Grinning, Link touched his heels to Epona’s sides, urging her down the hill to meet up with his Princess to join her in one of her rare bouts of freedom.

Title: On the Bow Theme: Freedom Wordcount: 120 Genre: General Setting: WW Rating: G
For as long as she could remember, Tetra had had a reoccurring nightmare where she was trapped by some unseen force, and though she could neither see nor hear anything, those she cared about were suffering. As much as she tried to hide it with her rough and tumble, devil may care attitude, those nightmares scared her more than anything else on the sea. But when she was on deck, standing tall on the bow with the warm sun beating down, the wind singing through the rigging, and ocean water misting into the air, she was free from it all: the nightmares, responsibilities to her crew, duties as a captain, all of it. For those brief moments, she was free.

Theme #23: Freedom Word count: 258 Title: Delectable
She thought dinner was exquisite. The cooks were ecstatic, and kept pouring food after food into her plate, while Zelda happily made it vanish.
“I would like a chance to visit the fair with my consort,” she said, relishing every word. “Who is also my guard, and Hero of Hyrule. Who gave me this lovely engagement ring. Who is the noblest commoner in the kingdom, and the most beloved citizen of the country.”
King Nohansen had a hard time drowning a chuckle, and only his beard hid his smile. “Link, darling. He has a name.”
The sponge cake, apparently, was to die for. “Yes, Link,” Zelda served herself a bowl-full of the item. “That’s his name. Link, the man I chose.”
Choice is freedom, and Zelda was neck-deep in it and splashing like mad.
“Such a short name, isn’t it?”, she added in turn, spreading some Deku butter on her cakes.
“I suppose so.”
“LinkLinkLinkLink,” she chanted in a half-giggle. “Quite a simple name! But he’s not a simple boy, no sir. He’s wonderful.”
“Wonderful?”
“Triforce-fantabulous, like this tart here.” She dug the serving spoon and slammed some of the red substance on her plate.
Her father looked at his beloved daughter amused, and playfully patted her hand. “It’s a good thing I postponed the announcement dinner till tomorrow. You would have scared the poor boy out of Hyrule itself, darling.”
“Oh hush,” said Zelda, though her smile was wider than the ocean, her heart was larger than the sky.
No more sneaking around. They were free.
