Obviously for those of you who have already gone to college--this likely isn't something you'd worry about. XD;;

However..

Are any of you already thinking about college? Maybe even about to apply? Does it make you nervous? ohmy.gif

I'm actually going to be a senior in highschool this coming school year. So this means I have to plan a lot of things. Though I'm not sure if I'm nervous... because I already have a plan set and a major and minors in mind. However I'm not sure if everything will turn out the way I want it to. And I'm one of those people who's afraid of leaving home (I have this distant fear that I'll end up a bum on the street. >_>). sad.gif So I suppose I'm... indifferent?

So let's talk about college. Are any of you nervous or looking forward to it? Maybe those of you who have already been there can give us little ones a word of advice. smile.gif

Well, I'm currently in grade 12 in Australia, meaning I have about 6 months before I have to go to university. Yay for me -__-

I'm not really worried about it - I just think it will be a bit of a scary change after spending the last 12 years in school with all my friends. Going to uni is going to be sort of the same, but a lot different. It will probably be even more different than the jump from primary to high school.

LZ Angel is Aussie? LOL! I'm Aussie too! Which footy team do you go for?

Sorry...getting back to the point.

I'll be in uni in a year or so...i'd guess it'd be different 'cause of the fact that it's more casual. It's either you've got the drive to help yourself, or you're screwed...hmm...not a nice thought, when in school everyone spoonfeeds you...

I'm not really nervous about how I'll perform in college - it's the getting in part that has me anxious. Lots of people expect me to succeed, but I fear I'm aiming too high and might disappoint people and lose my confidence.

Of course I can't think like that, but sometimes the doubt creeps on me and I can't shake it off. I'll just have to trust that all the work I've done will pay off.

After I finish my college application essays I'll probably have a more upbeat attitude towards college itself. Right now I'm excited. I want to start a new phase - meet new people, study things I genuinely enjoy.

So. I'm a Junior in Highschool, kinda near the college stage, but still have a bit more time.

In some ways, I am really excited for college. Studying on my on time, not an exact set schedule, and definately more time to myself. And, you get to meet so many new people! Oh, and you're studying for your career. Something I am excited to do.

On the other hand, college may be harder than I want it to be. Not only that, I already know I'm going to have loads of financial problems. I don't want that stress >_>;; And, I know I'm going to miss my friends terribly. We probably won't see each other and lose touch, and thats what I fear more than anything. I know we'll try our hardest, but it definately won't be the same.

Goodness~ And I still have no idea what I want to be! I may do something involving languages...but...I don't know~! XD

I suppose so. I'm already taking AP classes just to get college credit early, and I'm scouring the internet for scholarships (I can't apply until April when I'm sixteen).

I've already got my two choices (which I selected when I was in seventh grade): San Diego State or UCSD. If all else fails, then there's a really good community college called Southwestern in southern San Diego. From there, I'll reapply for most likely San Diego State.

But at least I know my tuition's free. smile.gif

I was terrified before I went off to college; I did NOT want to leave all my really great friends that I'd had for so long, or my boyfriend, or my family, or my cat... but college is amazing!! It's a good experience with learning to time manage and deal with rude people, if nothing else. Yes, your life is going to change a lot, but there's so much opportunity for growth and self discovery that there's really nothing to be afraid of. You'll make amazing new friends, and the friendships will help to define you as a person. You'll learn more than you ever thought you would, come to view the world in new ways, and learn (and learn to love!) life on your own. When I left home I thought life would never be the same, and everything would be terrible because I wasn't with my family anymore, but now (1/2 way through my sophomore year), college is more home than where my parents live. There's really nothing to be afraid of- just take a deep breath and jump in! w00t.gif
