Why do we love Link so much? What makes him a great character worth obsessing over? What makes him worthy of Princess Zelda? Discuss here everyone!

Link is Link. He isn't untouchable. You see him actually get hit, and fall down. Unlike those superpowered megomorphersing heroes you get a lot, this guy actually falls down. Yeah. That's right.

I think the reason why gamers like Link so much is because he's so kick-ass. Really, he's different from those popular emotional, anti-RPG heroes like Cloud. Really, Link fits the hero stereotype role to boot. Valiant, kind, handy with a weapon. I agree with DH, He isn't untouchable, which most people seem to assume with their choice of #1 "hero".

Ahh! I gotta go! brb!

I think another reason is Link is the 'silent' hero. He isn't overly chatty or angsty, he just does what needs to be done without argument or question. Gotta love that in a man smile.gif

Gosh, I don't have a lot of time to post...I'll probably add more later!

Link has always been an amazing hero. In OOT he sacrificed his own childhood, half of his life to save the Hyrule. And when the going gets rough, he knows how to hold his ground. He's really inspiring, and the way he's so silent and mysterious...Whats not to love about him?

Link never speaks, at least, not that we hear. tongue.gif He makes noises in general. . . like cries of pain or fear, but not actual words.

I agree Amaya, Link is very self-sacrificing. Giving up his childhood to save Hyrule was simply amazing. He's also so kind and selfless. *sigh*

A little off-topic, but I just read in a local newspaper about an article about the Wii. I want to see if you have the same reaction as I did when I read this little statement...

"Nintendo has also released the much anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the latest chapter in Nintendo's acclaimed The Legend of Zelda franchaise. The new game pits Link, a young farm boy, against an evil darkness that has shrouded the land of Hyrule."

Who ever does get the same reaction, wins somefing special from PH, yus? happy.gif

Lol. . . my reaction is that "That didn't tell us squat! You can say that exact thing about every Zelda game!" Link is always someone usually of little importance who goes against the big bad! I mean, that was very helpful. *sacrastic* And much anticipated game? Hello, its more than that!! Some of us have been quietly dying everytime they push the release date back! laugh.gif Don't know if that was your reaction, PH, but that was mine!

That is my reaction. Why? I have no money to buy Wii, and no Gamecube to buy TP. sad.gif

Well, what makes him worthy to Princess Zelda is that he's always going out to save her. But, it's not just that too. He takes it into his own hands to save Hyrule-- something Zelda really cherishes, and as a strong character, tries to protect. Link does the honor or protecting her Kingdom. When put together, Zelda must rule Hyrule, she cannot go out of her way to leave the castle and destroy monsters. With Link by herside, they can work together. One fights, one rules.

Sorry if that sucks.

No, that doesn't suck, Hylia Princess! I think you're right! (and I LOVE the avi happy.gif)

Link has that sort of innocence about him. . . as weird as that may sound. He's not world weary. He's lived quite a sheltered life, if you think about it. And being able to still hold onto that after all the things he's gone through, and all the things he's faced, its amazing.

Unless they dislike the Zelda series, or something of insignificance (like his design, lack of dialogue, etc.), there really isn't a reason why someone should dislike Link.

Granted, Link is a Hero (and much more), while we are only ordinary people, but WE are the ones playing the video game. In that sense, the gamer IS Link, and disliking him is like disliking one's own self.

In addition, as mentioned in the above, Link is a fictional character. Therefore he is capable of surpassing the boundaries of reality that keep us tied down. Due to that, Link is someone a normal person (like you and me) would love to be. Who wouldn't want to be the Hero with a blessing of the Goddesses, a champion who traverses many amazing landscapes, a boy who brandishes his blade like a true knight, and so much more?

On top of that, like it has been said by someone else, Link is not untouchable... which allows us to relate to him as a human being.

Link is a very believable, and at the same time, not-so-believable character. He represents who we are, and what we want to be. He is the chalice which holds all of our childhood dreams. He is Link, and I, personally, love him so.

I agree with Saphine about him being a "believable yet non-believable" character. I've always liked Link since I was about three years old, (when A Link to the Past came out), so he's always been apart of my childhood. biggrin.gif Also, he's just so dang cool!! ^^ Why? Who else just picks up a sword and with a few swings he masters it! Hey, he has the looks (*coughforthefangirlscough*), the smarts to solve puzzles (even if we are the ones controlling him), and the strength!....And a man of few words. XD

I believe he should be with Zelda for three reasons...

1. Of course there's the traditional fairy tale of "the princess and the knight"- The knight rescues the princess and they live happily ever after. Though what I love is that the way Nintendo put the game together is that they seemed to take an incredibly cliched story and put new twists into it. Link always comes to Zelda's rescue! (Though it sometimes makes me wonder how she gets kidnapped all the time... o.o)

2. The second reason is because I think Link cares for her deeply and is just the "right guy". All he thought about in the OoT manga was Zelda after she got kidnapped. And in the game too, the sages kept reassuring Link that the princess was safe. Link has unspoken dialogue in the games, so he must have shown concern toward Zelda without us knowing it.

3. Zelda's been in every game... Link's been in every game... need I say more? (Not to mention there has been more ZeLinkiness over time than any other couple proposed in the games.)

That's just my opinion though, I'm not demeaning any other couple that may be suggested. I just happen to like ZeLink the best. ^^

ZeLink forever! zelinksmileytgther.gif
