| QUOTE (Alantie @ Oct 23 2006, 09:05 PM) | | Have you read her newest book in the Circle of Magic series, The Will of the Empress? Her character Daja falls for another woman and they develop a relationship with some suggestion of sexual stuff going on (well, more than a suggestion really, but if you're a naive little kid you probably wouldn't catch on right away). I was kinda shocked by it since this series in particular is for younger teen readers, like 13ish. I dunno, it just sort of made me a bit sad is all. *small sigh* |
I don't remember what the seires is called (honestly, I can't spell it), but it was the Alanna series. That is quite surprising, however, that the target for the readers happens to be 13.

Wow and I'm about to read that bbok, it's right behind me in it's WardenBook bag.
Off-topic: I've always liked the idea of Sandra and Briar together. Do they ever ge together or is that just a fantasy never to come true?
Anyways, my thoughts on homosexuality. I particularily do not care if someone is homosexual or not. They are a person before they are gay or lesbian. I have two friends that are Bisexual and I couldn't care less. They're great guys to hang around with. But if one of my female friends were lesbian I only wish that they do not talk about it or imply that they like me that way. *shudder* Or anything like that. I live in New Jersey which means we have this Civil something (can't remember) where homosexuals can marry. I could care less if they do or don't. But, remember we had a gay governor....Who became a Apiscilpalien (I can never ever spell my religion right, darn it.) priest. That I had a problem with. Why my religion? T_T People left us after that. And I planned on using those people to help me get the stupid music to be more lively!! That was off topic. Sorry.
Also off topic: I hate the Vactican (AKA POPE). They refused to let women be priests, hold bible studies and whatnot. Damn sexists. Excuse me. I'm sorry again.
Anyway
I'm only glad I like guys. WHOOT! Testerone! xD lmao.

| QUOTE (Shini @ Oct 19 2006, 03:32 AM) | I am not against it at all, it is already too hard to find love in the world, so why should others be punished or excluded because they found someone who just happens to be the same gender as they are?
But I really don't care to think about anyone's sexual preferences. I roll my eyes just as much at straight couples who are trying to ingest each others heads as I do gay couples. |
I agree with the above statements. If two people love each other, we should respect that and let them be. For the second statement, if they are your friends and it makes you uncomfortable, deal with it the same way you would if you were uncomfortable about any other couple - talk to them about it, or just ignore it.
I'll say this to start with - I'm Catholic, but I'm open-minded. I don't agree with lots of things about the Catholic Church, and their stance on homosexuality is one of them.
It might be because I have one gay male friend and one female bi friend (in the same group of friends), but I honestly don't see a problem with homosexuality. My gay friend is good friends with all of our group, even the guys. Besides that, he's just awesome - he's great to be around, and always good for a laugh. The bi friend is one of the friendliest people I know - she's been through a lot, but she's such a strong and kind person because of it. I wouldn't trade either of them for the world. And if they weren't gay, it would change who they are, and we all like them just the way they are.
Sure, I don't like yuri/yaoi in fanfictions (mostly because they often pair up characters who have no interest in each other except friendship), but in real-life, we should accept these differences in people.
Yes, it might be a bit of a fad at the moment, but I don't think we should worry about those people that are actually gay - its their life, and we shoudl respect them enough to let them make their own decisions.
I don't think much of that post made much sense, but its part of my views anyway........
