Homosexuality. Its becoming rapidly more acceptable everywhere. So, lets talk about it here.

My thoughts and opinions on the matter? Well, I was more than stunned to find that two of my all time favorite authors, Tamora Pierce and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes both had characters that became lesbians. It really hit me then, just how much homosexuality is becoming an accepted thing in todays world. Now, please don't get me wrong or be offended or anything (after all, this is the thread for serious/mature discussion). I do not think people like this are evil or anything of that sort. There are really awesome people out there who are gay or lesbian or whatever, and I don't think as people they are bad or anything. I just don't believe their sexual preference is right/acceptable. I don't know, I just feel that as a world we are being perhaps TOO accepting of this, as weird as that might sound. Do you understand what I mean? It just isn't right, in my opinion. Especially with the whole allowing them to get married. That just isn't right. Marriage is between a man and a woman (for obvious reasons, if you know what I mean). Anyway, this is making my head hurt, so I'll stop here. Comments, anyone?

I seem to love commenting here.

Well, homosexuality is becoming a new trend. JUST DON'T CONFUSE IT WITH ANDROGYNY! Oh, the horror of making a debate for that one...(I lost it, though I was the best speaker for that debate...)

You're religious, aren't you? I'm just guessing. From the Confirmation thingo. Well, it's perfectly fine to say that you don't condone their preference as being right. Just so long as you don't join an anti-gay club or something, and come outta nowhere and bash the heck outta gay couple (okay, that was exaggerated, but I hope I get my msg across...)

Well, I don't really care whether someone's gay or not. To me, if two men love each other, then two men love each other. It's alright to say openly that they're gay, and that the find the same sex attractive. It'd make me bloody uncomfortable (I think I'm homophobic... blink.gif sad.gif ) but if that's the way they function, we can't do anything about that.

It's just a bit disturbing if they take it too far. Like, some random and wrong stuff...that sometimes aired on TV...and I accidentally flicked to, and wondered what it was, until some time later when I was horrified by a certain scene that I shall not bother myself with recounting.

So, pretty much; gay is alright. Just don't do things we don't want to see where we can see it.

And gay marriage? That's a really tough one. I'm just glad I like girls. biggrin.gif

But, in my opinion, if you have to, live together under one roof is okay, so you don't REALLY need to get married. I can see what marriage means to them, though...like "ultimate expression of love" thingo.

Solution: Adopt a child!

I dunno. Ish high.

blink.gif Is it that obvious? Yeah, I am religious, though I'm not fanatical or anything. And I think you mean baptism, not confirmation, lol laugh.gif

No, no worries, I'm not going to join an anti gay club or go out and kill them or anything. I was just curious to see what everyone else thinks, you know?

On a side note, I remember a lot of things about people. biggrin.gif

Well, to me, this whole "gay" thing seems like something of a fad. I don't mean that as if to say that all gay people are only gay right now because it's cool, and once it becomes uncool they'll all go back to being straight. It's just that the media seems to be making homosexuality into a fad. I mean, I can understand how, say in movies or books, a person can become more attached to a character who is of the same sexual orientation as themselves. For example, as a smart brunette girl, I tend to prefer characters who are also smart brunette girls. I mean, pretty much everyone does that, look for characters in a story that is similar to themselves, thereby letting them live the adventures of the stories vicariously.
But a lot of shows targeted at a homosexual audience tend to be rather smutty. I mean, when I watch a show, I watch it for the story, not the porn. Maybe I'm just strange, but if I was gay, I'd be kinda offended at how other gay people are being portrayed in the media: as smartly dressed, perfectly coiffed sex addicts who go at it like bunnies.
It just seems that the media is trying to pander to what they think homosexual people want, without actually going and asking their target audience if they're right or not.
I guess the problem I have with homosexuality is the sexuality part of it. It just seems that everywhere you turn, everything is about sex. But not with gay people, straight people too. Sex,as they say, sells, and yet the media is being over-saturated with it. I mean, I'm fine with a man loving a woman, or a man loving a man, or a woman loving a woman, but please stop showing people getting it on!

Well, since I have the same religion as Alantie, here's what I have to say. biggrin.gif

I don't think it's acceptable, but I don't go out and start bellowing "ANTI-GAY!" outside of their houses. blink.gif I mean, you could say I'm neutral. As long as they keep their sexual orientation to theirselves, I'll keep mine to myself. Although it would suck if a guy I liked turned out gay. sad.gif xD Anyway!

And, it does seem to be sort of a slight fad, as gr33n_sl33ves said... I mean, all my friends think it's cool. Also, because people like yaoi/yuri in anime/manga/video games (I HAVE HAD TO ENDURE SO MUCH SORAxRIKU I DON'T EVEN WANNA GO THERE >_<) they tend to love it in real life, and therefore support it....Sometimes, I wonder if it isn't just that since they think it would be awesome in non-reality, it would be awesome in reality.

Done talking!

Homosexuality dosen't make a difference to me. Its like a normal couple, but with two of the same gender. *shrugs* I don't see why people make a big deal about it, because in really, its not.

Also, my religion has no influence on me on this issue. My religion is something that gives me hope everyday, and gives me something to look forward to after I do. Thats it. People are getting waaay to technical about this. I'm a Catholic. I love my religion, but I hate the church. It influences people, and basically a lot of people involved in the church are sick minded and corrupted. Yesh, being a Catholic changes my views on life, (for me a much more brighter, optomistic side), but it doesn't mean I have to view people the same way.

So yeah. I'm also gonna have to agree with g_s, people really seem to making a big fad out of this. It doesn't really effect me, so it doesn't make a difference to me whether its a fad or not though. XD

blink.gif Odd topic coming from Alantie, I wonder what the cause of it was?
Honestly I think that if they are not hurting anyone, who cares. I think they should be allowed every right that a married couple has, if the religious don't want to have it called marriage then so be it as that is a church type thing and most religions seem to be oppossed (can't spell at the moment).
I am not against it at all, it is already too hard to find love in the world, so why should others be punished or excluded because they found someone who just happens to be the same gender as they are?
But I really don't care to think about anyone's sexual preferences. I roll my eyes just as much at straight couples who are trying to ingest each others heads as I do gay couples. Like someone posted earlier (sorry, I forgot who exaclty it was) sex of any kind is everywhere nowdays.
I do agree that it has become kinda a fad to be gay right now, but it might just be that we are now being more exposed to this subculture and we notice it more... but whatever floats your boat.
What goes on behind closed doors is not any of my business.... unless I hear screaming from the other side..... then I'll either turn up the music or call the cops.

Where this topic came from? I was wading through the filth of FF.net. I kept trying to find decent romances for pairings I liked. . . and what did I keep running into? You should understand, Shini, what with Wincest *shudder* Or the Sora/Riku people. I was just having a bad day there, lol. As long as they don't bother me/force their beliefes on me, I could really care less about them.

giggle.gif Then you understand why I was so annoyed that day! In general and on most days, homosexuality isn't really bothersome until it starts invading my fanfiction questing!!!!

What Tamora Pierce seiries are you talking about by the way? I don't recall anything like that.

You're right. I don't think that it's right to be gay, but if they want to, that's their own decision, not mine. I will respect them and say "Do what you wish" because I think whatever happens will happen when it's time. I have a lot of gay friends though and I can still hang out with them. I do get uncomforatble, hoewver, when they do act like that.

There is people out int he world that are gay because "It's the new fad" but that's stupid. I feel bad for people who are serious and love the same sex. I don't think it's right to advertise it around the world and hold up rainbow signs. I'm not saying that the world SHOULD BE accepting of everything, I think they should keep their views but stop judging people.

But like that's gonna happnen.

Have you read her newest book in the Circle of Magic series, The Will of the Empress? Her character Daja falls for another woman and they develop a relationship with some suggestion of sexual stuff going on (well, more than a suggestion really, but if you're a naive little kid you probably wouldn't catch on right away). I was kinda shocked by it since this series in particular is for younger teen readers, like 13ish. I dunno, it just sort of made me a bit sad is all. *small sigh*
