Zelda vs Malon, Comparing the two

Zelda is better, but you're right. I don't want to join Malon and Link communities because they can get really weird. I don't know if there is even a malon and link forum out there. You'd think that with all the battles there would be some place.

EDIT: Plus, Zelda is in super smash brothers!!! The only defense that we would hear is that she'd use a pitchfork.

That would actually be pretty scary. Those chickens are far more deadly than Ganny x_x

Rofl. That's what I do whenever I take it into my head to attempt a suicide mission on killing chickens. Then I gallop over the chickens on Epona Too bad Malon didn't think of this stuff otherwise she might have taken care of Ingo by herself!

I've been a member of only one Malink forum and they are the sweetest people I have ever met (online anyway). They don't bash Zelda. As a matter of fact, there are some there that ship BOTH Zelink and Malink. And the ones who only ship Malink are very respectful of those who ship both (or only Zelink). It's a slow process (especially with some fanbrats on DeviantArt), but I think the fandom is getting passed the whole bashing thing. We're finally starting to realize that we can ship and let ship without having to bash each other to pieces.

Anyway! Why I adore Malon? Simple, she's smart, cheeky, classy, and a strong person. It's not really fair to compare her with the title role, as she was not meant for that spot. After all the games aren't titled "The Legend of Malon" now are they? But that doesn't make her character any less important. And it doesn't make her any less deserving of Link's affections (if that is the case). Yes she is a supporting character, but just imagine how boring Hyrule would be if it was only Link/Zelda/Ganondorf. It would eventually get pretty redundant and there would never be anything there to add to the story. She helps make Hyrule what it is. Along with the other "minor roles".

And just because Malon didn't fight Ingo off doesn't necessarily mean she is weak. Look at it this way: Ingo took over the ranch sometime during the seven years Link was gone. Let's assume this happened a year after Link went to sleep. That would mean Malon is (about) 11/12. Can imagine just what went on when Ingo chased Talon off? What would be going through your head if you were a child and watched your father get chased off? It isn't hinted that there was any violence so we don't know for sure what went on then. And during those long years her father was gone and she was at Ingo's mercy. Besides, Lon Lon Ranch was her home! Her father was gone and there would be no one there to take care of the horses the way they were supposed to be. She couldn't abandon it. (It almost be like if Zelda abandoned Hyrule) And it was quite obvious Ingo had Ganondorf's backing. What if Malon had tried to leave? What's stopping Ingo from getting Ganondorf's forces after her?

I think it took great strength for Malon to remain on the ranch and to ensure the horses and everything was cared for properly. She was courageous and did her best to defend her home the best way she knew how. Just up and leaving would've made her seem very cowardly. At least that's how I see it.

To say she isn't as courageous as Zelda is a moot point. Zelda and Malon were both after the same thing, protecting their home and what they knew. Zelda just so happened to be a princess and that meant protecting the entire kingdom. While Malon was a farm girl and it meant protecting the ranch. Yes Malon's role was smaller, but like I said, that doesn't make what she did any less courageous than Zelda's.

I don't have much to say about OoT's Zelda. Sorry.
