I was thinking more along the lines of them teasing Link and maybe popping out of haystacks to scare Ingo.

Yeah..thats similar to the way I would imagine it. Link, Zelda, Malon can be like the cute and adorable three amigos with Zelda and Malon plotting the mischief and the polite and gentle Link being a reluctant accomplice, but naturally he gives in to the whims of the little girls.
