Well, in a way it is the same Zelda and Link throughout the entire series, in spirit if not in body. In WW, Ganny pretty much said that Link was the reincarnation of the Hero of Time, and King Hyrule said that Tetra was Zelda reborn or something of the sort. So, if we go by that, Link and Zelda's souls are pretty much bound together by the Triforce, along with Ganon/Ganondorf, and all three of them are caught in an eternal struggle of Good and Evil. Mmm, such fun!

The Links and Zeldas are not reincarnations of each other. There's an interview somewhere that proves it... But basically, Miyamoto said the Links are "incarnations" not "re-incarnations". That means they all have similar appearances and abilities, but different, unique souls. As for the Zeldas, they're just descendants of the first (royal bloodline). Ganondorf was mistaken when he said TWW Link was the Hero of Time- probably because they look similar and have the same roles.
Reincarnating would just get too weird, methinks...

A lot of us like to think of the Cycle thingo about Good and Evil. Thus it explains a lot of LoZ stuff. However, it's a big thingo to debate on. The fact that they are the only people to be reincarnated is a big point in terms of LxZ

The silly/awkward TWW Link cannot possibly be the reincarnation of the sexy/cool OoT Link. And how could Tetra be OoT Zelda's reincarnation if she's her descendant?

Their spirits reincarnate. The bodies don't have to be the same.

Plus, in tWW, it's revealed that Tetra's body is just a disguise for Zelda's.

I think our definitions of reincarnation differ. Frankly, this argument leads to the same conclusion: Link and Zelda, being the only ones to return (whereas Gannypoo is always the same throughout the games), are meant for each other.

The reason I get so defensive about this is because I'm strictly canon about these things, and reincarnation weirds me out too much.

The way I see it (according to Miyamoto) is a completely new Link, body and soul, appears whenever the goddesses decide a hero is needed. He then eventaully falls in love with the Princess Zelda of his time, and she is a decendant of the first Zelda. So I consider Tetra the descendant of OoT Link and Zelda.

You know, it occurred to me than an outsider would be totally weirded out by this conversation.
