Super Smash Brothers, ...and Melee!

I know this topic should be in the 'Featuring Zelda' section, but I figured it would do nicely right here. However, the thought of putting this into the correct section is still in thought, so I might be changing it's location.

I know that many other people played these games (and have enjoyed them as well), and in various other topics I have discussed this game with other members, so I thought it would be nice to discuss the game with each other in one topic. We can disucuss characters, battle tactics, game mechanics and so on.

I haven't played Super Smash Brothers for the N64 in years (and we believe someone had stolen our cartridge), so I'm sorry I can't make quite a discussion there.

However, I still heavily play SSBM. I think it's safe to say that this goes down as one of my favourite games of all time. I'm not so sure if all of you know this, but I am a Marth user in SSBM (and quite the 'skilled one' ) and a recent Shiek user. Most Zelda users are (probably) mainly Shiek users, so I haven't really met a 'Zelda' user.

All well. (This is the second time its happened today -__-; )

I have not played SSB in FOREVER. Probably 'cause...well I dunno, I just haven't.

But for SSBM, I kick butt as Young Link. Not too many people use him, but I like him better than adult Link. Young Link ish fast, and his jump is better. I usually depend on both of those during the game. And, I also like his fire arrows better than Link's arrows. Bad thing? Young Link is small, so when he's in 90%-ish range, he can easily be smashed attacked and sent flying off the screen.

Although, I do like to change my characters a lot. I'm one of those few Zelda users, because Zelda has stronger (in my opinio) magical attacks than Sheik. Sheik is really fast, which is good, but a lot of times I feel like I don't have a lot of control over her. And lemme tell ya, I like control.

So yeah, LOZ characters are my favorite people/things to use in SSBM. Except for Ganondorf (2 or 3 n's?). Me no likey him. (at least, I don't like facing a level 9 him. Too strong. Sends me flying each time)

Ooooh! I LOVE to use Roy. Although he may not be as fast as Marth, just like Young Link, I like the fire with his sword....and Roy's just hot. *drools*

I see a lot of people use Falco. *shrugs* I'm alright with Falco, but I usually prefer to be Fox. Again, I feel like I just don't have as much control with Falco as I do with fox.

Ah this game is pretty awseome i like it because link is awseome but gets pwned by roy well with me anyway but i still like link he is awseome and very good attacker in this game a bit slow but good at offense

Do you want me to slow down, AmayaSaria? It might help both of us, you know...I can't help running off edges sometimes.

But Link seems to have gotten a bit brighter in this one; at least he learnt how to use that damn hookshot properly...shouldn't be saying damn...

I agree. I know alot of Falco AND Fox users. If they are anything like my brother they make me feel a bit uneasy. Do you know about shine blinding? Falco's isn't all that great to use because it goes upward, but I believe Fox's goes sideway?

Either way, Shine Blinding is an advantage when facing other Foxs, Falco, Marth, Roy (and I believe Link) because they go further than most characters, and I believe the stun/lag is longer as well?

However, I'd have to say that Fox is one of (if not, the) best charaters in the game. His quick agile speed makes deadly combos difficult to get out of and those deadly kicks...(piss me off!) and powerful attacks are what makes Fox such a great character.

But, it depends on whoever you're comfortable with.

I'm usually a Zelda/Sheik user myself (my brother gets so pissed when I switch between the two in a match, it's hilarious!), though I tend to use Samus and Donkey Kong quite a bit. And Mewtwo too. Pikachu is also surprisingly handy in a pinch. With his Thunderbolt or whatever the heck it is (the down and B move) you can catch people in mid air and send them flying. And electrocute them, which is funny XD

I have the N64 version of the game, and I now always play as Kirby (I irritate my brothers so much by puffing back into play every time they knock me away ), but I used to play as Link until I realised how awesome Kirby is.

One of my friends has SSBM, and I usually play Zelda in that - it took a while to learn all her moves, so I stuck with her, lol. I like irratating people with her too, by teleporting everywhere and then hovering too (or is that Peach? Can't remember, its been too long since I played SSBM )

Either way, I love SSB. Mostly because I always win, because I'm just so awesome

I'm usually Zelda/Sheik. I'm probably the only person I know that actually uses the "Sheik for racking up damage, Zelda for finishing blows" strategy that Sakurai intended; everyone else is either all Sheik or all Zelda. Aside from her, I also play as Marth or Roy.

Every year my school's Japanese club holds SSBM touraments (and Guitar Hero tournaments). The rules three stock lives, Final Destination, and no items. The top three winners usually get GameStop gift cards. This year they want to hold a Brawl tournament and give out Wii Point cards as prizes since a lot of people at my school own a Wii and DS... You'd swear with so many people walking around playing Brain Age and Phantom Hourglass that you just stepped into Japan or something. XD

I must say i am probably a all rounder of Shiek as i like to have the fast and speedy characters in my opinion.

I must say though i am quite good at Shiek and i just get right up close into the combat area and keep attacking them with pure speed and doing qutie abit of damage and after awhile of doing something like that it gets pretty easy.
I love to use Shieks just normal moves with you get right up and use your fists and feet etc. as they do some serious damage some of them and can make the opponent go flying away sometimes (with me most fo the time).
I don't really like to use Shieks specials moves that is of course her whip and Kunai knifes as they are pretty slow and do tiny bits of damage but i like to use the "BUp" button of course for survival but that is a serious killing move, jsut damage them abit and you send them flying.

Well as you can see by what i just wrote that i love Shiek and i am ok with Zelda but not a big fan as she has quite bad movement skills etc.
