Then I'd... jump in the sack... with... LEZAD. Which is an anagram of Zelda. Sorry Link. don't hurt me. *I had to post that...Zelda is gonna KILL me... *

| QUOTE (CrazygurlMadness @ Aug 4 2006, 05:11 PM) | Somehow, characters shouldn't be either loved or hated. It's okay to just enjoy their presence too. Hatred destroys the game experience, in my opinion.
|
But what if the hate is towards a bad guy? Every time I see a bad guy I say, "Oh! It's him/or her again! I hate you!! *shakes fists but returns to controller before the said enemy attacks* (Lol, sorry had to put this in...)

That Zelda CD-I game was probably the worst Zelda game in history along with the cartoon version. Those kinda destroyed great character of Link and Zelda.

| QUOTE (gr33n_sl33ves @ Nov 5 2006, 09:38 PM) | Yeah, Zelda is always loyal to those she holds dear, and incredibly devoted to Hyrule (well, when it isn't buried beneath the sea, at least). Despite the fact that, throughout the entire series of games, Zelda has always put the safety and welfare of others before herself, some people still seem to think that she's a cold-hearted, manipulative bitch. It makes you wonder if they're playing the same LoZ games as the rest of us |
Zelda seems incredibly devoted to whatever she holds dear in general..with Tetra it happened to be her pirates and Link. That definately drives me nuts too. Probably the cartoon's handiwork! ( And stuff like that recent skit on Seth Green's show )
So defending the Princess?
I'm going to be repeating what others have said but: 1) Loyalty..to Link, her country and such...utterly unswerving too.
2) Selflessness. She sacrifices her life, figuratively and even literally in TP ( and just about in WW ) to serve what she believes in. She'll always put others before herself.
3) Duty. Regardless of what she personally believes in or what she wants, she'll always choose to do what's best for other and Hyrule. Or just the right thing.
4) Bravery: She hid successfully for 7 years from Ganondorf, and put herself in grave risk to help Link when he did return. In WW, she attacked Ganon to save Link's life. She fought him as in the end, using Link's bow. In TP, she dies to save Midna, then fights on horseback with Link against Ganondorf. Her earlier incarnations have her standing up against Ganon and even her own brother to protect the Triforce/Hyrule.
5) Empathy: She's always quick to empathize with those around her, usually in particular Link. In MM, despite the fact he is leaving her in a apathetic fog, her first concern is for the safety of Link in his journey. In OoT, when Ganondorf falls, despite the grave evils he has done to her people and her personally ( killing her father ) she turns and shows him compassion. "Pitiful man"
6) Guilt. She takes every failure to heart, and every mistake upon herself..which is a mark of a faithful leader for one. In OoT in the end, you can tell the guilt is killing her for what has happened, and in TP she takes the blame for Ganondorf's "execution" failure upon herself. Same with WW, she apologizes to Link when she becomes Zelda, and realizes Link's troubles came upon her because of Ganon's search for her.

Huh? I need to be filled in on this...
And yes, I have noticed that Zelda does apologize in almost every single Zelda game. Otherwise, gliderpilotgirl, I'd say you've pointed out every wonderful attribute in Zelda!
Back to the defending Zelda thing...
It's even in fairy tales! The knight always saves the princess... =') It's Link's job.

I really don't know why Zelda gets bashed for being "the damsel in distress." she got in that position because 1. she has power(as the princess), 2. the evil villain wants to marry her, or 3. she's trouble to the villain. She ALWAYS stands up for her kingdom, ALWAYS helps link in some way or form, and ALWAYS risks herself for the people she loves (her people, Link, etc.). Zelda is brave, wise, helpful, and very strong (whether in will, strength, or both). Next time someone says "Zelda sucks" I'm going to say, "Take a better look, then tell me why she sucks."
