| QUOTE (CrazygurlMadness @ Aug 5 2006, 02:55 PM) | Somehow, I think that Zelda won't actually be doing sword fighting in TP. More like intervening during story sequences. After all, if she does all the ass-kicking, what'll happen to Link's role, right? I have trouble imagining Nintendo giving Zelda a swordmaster's role. Besides, that sword seems a bit flimsy for slashing Lizalfos, y'know?
I hope I'm wrong, though. |
Wouldn't it be interesting if there was a cutscene where Zelda pointed her sword at Link? I mean, how does she know who to trust, especially if he's in his wolf form? I'd love to see how Link would react to that...

Ah, I've always been a fan of the concept of Zelda being playable. And unlike most, I can actually see Nintendo going through with it--they already seem to be taking steps in that direction. Let's not forget that Kafei isn't the only character we've been able to control (and that was pretty lame, I gotta say, since you only got to walk around for a few seconds. ). The Wind Waker showed us, up front and center, that things are changing in the series. We got to control other characters on numerous occasions--full dungeons were devoted to switching control and working as a team. Medli and Makar, IMHO, were fabulous. I personally adored the Wind and Earth temples, and they were undoubtedly my favorite dungeons in the whole game, and I absolutely loved working with Zelda in the final battle. So naturally I'd lovelovelove to see more stuff like that--can you imagine how much it would rock playing through a whole dungeon as Link and Zelda? I certainly can. 8D In fact, I wouldn't even mind a party game. Most of you probably know I'm a rabid Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts fangirl, so it probably looks like I'm being majorly biased toward Squeenix right now, but I do think that it could work marvelously while still maintaining the classic Zelda feel. Like Firefly said, a KH-type approach would probably be the best way to do it--you control Link, but you have the backup of other characters that follow you around in areas like dungeons. I think it would rock if it were limited to a party of two at all times. Depending on which area of Hyrule you're in, you (as Link, of course) are paired up with another character. In an OOT sense, for example, entering the forest area brings Saria into your party, entering the mountain area brings in Darunia, the water area brings in Ruto, etc, and each of them have special skills/weapons. But for the general areas like Hyrule field, you are alone (or with your horse). And in the last dungeon, of course, you would get to pair up with Zelda and kick some ass with light arrows/magic/ninja skillz. And I'm pretty confident that the sword in the artwork of Zelda isn't just for show. Mark my words: she's going open a can of whoopass or I'll eat my hand. XD And I can totally see another TWW-like teamwork thing going on with her and Link. She will definitely be helping in the final battle. She's done that for, what, three or four different games now? Aonuma seems to enjoy the concept of ass-kicking Zelda, and by the looks of things, I don't think he's going to dump it anytime soon. Okay, I'm in hyper fangirl mode and I'm getting WAY off-topic. Don't mind me. (And thanks so much to all of you who commented on le rant. Advocate of Defense?! I feel so goshdarned special! )
