Defending the Princess, Why Zelda?

I agree with everything you said, except for the evil villain wanting to marry Zelda part. I don't think that's ever happened. Then again, I've only played LoZ, LA (just a little), OoT, and MM, so I wouldn't know.

I totally agree. Someone once said that Zelda sucks and is an ugly girl. Okay... First of all, she is one of the hottest females in the game (I'm no lezbo or anything, but she's really pretty), and second of all, she could blast your head off with her power over elements! She doesn't suck! I can't see anyone else worthy of ruling Hyrule by her side, except for Link of course...

Plus, if she really did "suck", then Link wouldn't be into to her in EVERY SINLGE GAME! No guy likes sucky girls!

yeah...well, maybe he DOES want to marry her. he could marry her, be king, throw her away, and then rule over Hyrule without any objection according to the law. It's a creepy thought though.

Ughhh... Gross! Ganondorf marrying Zelda!!! Eww. He's got a beard, man! He's got BLACK SKIN (literally. Not being racist. Racism is wrong.) and a red beard, and CRAZY Sideburns! But, I don't think he wants to marry her, but in Oot, he captures Zelda, who has magic abilities, when he could have taken Link, with little magic. So, maybe while Link was busy getting to his princess, Ganondorf said: "I'm planning on becoming King, and you're going to help me, Princess!" or something. If so, Ganondorf is a total pervert! But I doubt that happened.

I've come across that too: one poster stood out to me because he blasted Zelda for being "flat" as if that made her totally worthless. As a fellow female I was absolutely furious. In general, Zelda doesn't seem to get the attention that for instance Malon or Midna get, but I think it's due to attitude rather than looks. She's absolutely beautiful, but she won't flirt: she doesn't chase Link around. I guess to some people that's less attractive. ( As a fellow woman, I respect her immensely for her attitude )

I'm also very annoyed when I hear Zelda called stupid, in essence for being the damsel in distress. It's not a fair statement: she is forced into that role because she's the leading woman and the type of story it is. If the heroine could save herself, where's the role of the hero in traditional tales like these? She's hugely intelligent and it's not hard to see.

I know what you mean, and I also respect girls who play somewhat hard-to-get, but not purposefully. I mean, she does show her feelings, but only when it's the time for it. I think Link likes that about her, too. She doesn't try, but she makes him fall love with her anyway. Especially in TP.

Nice discussion going on, guys! I agree about Zelda not being all that flirty (although I can imagine her and Link affectionately teasing each other from time to time). Maybe it has to do with her being a Princess, but she does seem more mature when it comes to dealing with romantic feelings.
