Or even if they are around, they don't seem to want to take responsibility for their own children. I know it's not the whole reason why, but I think part of it comes from that whole thing against spanking your kids, or really punishing them in general. I mean, I certainly don't mean child abuse, but if a kid does something bad, it should be punished.
When you get a new puppy or kitten or whatever, and it poops on the floor, you punish it. When it does something good, you reward it. That's how you train it. And kids need to be trained too.

Indeed. People are afraid to discipline their children anymore. I mean, you don't need to beat them or anything, but you've got to let them know that you're the boss and if they do something wrong they'll be punished for it.

I know. It's because most parent's don't punish their kids that things like common courtesy and common sense have gone out the window. That seems to be the main problem these days; most people don't care about anything outside of their own little bubble.

Hmm...how many kids actually like Paris Hilton though? I'd get into a rant about men, but even most men realize how shallow she is.

Agreed. Kids need boundaries, and they need to be enforced. If their parents let them get away with everything, they grow into people who don't respect rules, IMO. ( This is untested on my part: my daughter is nearly 2 months old. )

On the brighter side...so anything interesting new with you folk?

My parents used to beat the crap out of me and look how great I turned out. biggrin.gif laugh.gif dry.gif OK seriously yeah...I agree that young children seem more spoiled nowadays in getting to wear what they want. I have hispanic ethnicity so from my upbringing experience disipline seemed to be a must and whatever I got when it came to clothes I earned by doing chores and helping around the house.

Not just that, man! I know a lot of teens who are spoiled beyond reckoning, and not just for clothes... They get the cars they want, get the guys and girls they want, get the scholarships they want (usually in sports), the grades they want (sometimes getting geeks to do it, and in return, the geek gets their number. Turns out, it's fake! lol), and basically everything they want. Sometimes I feel like someone should spit at their feet... honestly! angry.gif rolleyes.gif

Spit at their feet? More like beat the ever-loving crap out of them! It's like they have no respect for anyone beyond themselves, and the only way for that to change is for them to get a lesson in humility.

If anything, they should be put on a deserted island and left to fend for themselves, then they'd really see how "great" they are.

Kids these days? Spend five minutes with my idiotic class and you get VERY solid expression of an average teen. Jackasses, morons, jerks...

You're so right there. There's nothing remotely slutty about her outfit, and she's got a beautiful strong personality- that's the kind of role model girls should have, and not people like. . . Paris Hilton or whoever.

Kudos to Nintendo for creating a female character that isn't slutty and so on, it's sad how often female characters are those whiny helpless people who just beg someone to save them as fast as possible.

To be an Evanescence fan (I knew that there would be a moment when I would say that!), they should learn more from Amy Lee, there's a person who has guts to be who she is instead of mindlessly selling her soul (and body). That would be a lot wiser than adoring Paris Hilton or whoever, we've all seen where that leads. *sigh*

Yeah...Zelda is very unique from your typical potrayals of a helpless female character. Evanescense is cool. The lead singer is gorgeous and she has a great singing voice IMO. Not too long ago I was a teen and we were all jackass morons as well in my high school. Your not alone in this sentiment.

I wouldn't entirely lose hope in teenagers: as someone who volunteers as a leader with Air Cadets, there are good and amazing teenagers out there. I think it's a matter of learning discipline and respect more than anything.

What greatly irritates me about those weak women is that they are often more popular than Zelda within the fanbase. The amount of time I've seen Zelda get treated with scorn or even just ignored...it's sad. Usually it refers to ironically being a damsel for once ( yet it's okay for these other women? ) or stepping up to make a tough decision that backfires, even though she had all the right and good intentions.
*Sigh* Ignore my ranting.

There's got to better things to talk about. Say for instance the weather! It was snowing today. You guys?

Yup, I was jumping happily around when I heard that! I even went to have a nice walk while it snowed and I must say that I've missed good ol' white winters. It better be a white Christmas, too. Two black ones are just plain depressing, no need for a third one.

You know, I like the snow, but it's the length of the winters here that eat at me. I had to shovel snow off my flowerbeds in April last year just to give the daffodils a head start. We also got 1.5 ft of snow in one storm last March...how bad in comparison is Finland? ( for Flygx )
