Title: Ganondorf: desilusional?
Description: About Wind Waker Link...

Just seen a topic about Wind Waker. It's way too old for me to add my opinion (though I wish I could. Love that game), but I remembered one question that kept bugging me.

Yes, it has SPOILERS:

WW Link is often refered to as ''having nothing to do with the Hero of Legend aka the Hero of Time''.
But Ganondorf said something along the lines of ''you truly are the Hero of Time reborn!''
Was he desilusional or was he, in the end, right?

I'm replaying it, but I still want to know your opinions on that. Or facts.

Though I find it funny in Phantom Hourglass, well, the hourglass.... object linked with time... Link being a hero... And well just enjoy the game XD
andthatfairy I need to finish PH

What has been told to me by hardcore theorists more than once, WW is from the Adult Timeline. WW Link is said to be descended from a sage, Zelda most likely, but with no genetic connection to OOT Link since its generally accepted that OOT Link went back to the Child Timeline with his virginity still intact.

So as far as I know, Adult Timeline Zelda probably did marry and had children eventually for WW Link to be born in a later generation, but with no genetic connection to the Hero of Time. As to who Zelda married its a mystery but its assumed to be some random gentleman suitor that was not Link.

I know he's not supposed to be genetically linked, but what about reborn? As in reincarnated?

On Zelda, I think it was a prince, not a random gentleman. I have nothing to support that, however.

Yeah..I believe in the possibility of reincarnation in connection to WW Link.

Personally I was of the opinion that Ganondorf would know better his enemy than anyone else. Ganondorf has actually met the hero of time- the others who say he isn't the hero aren't people who have ever known him, as best as I can recall.

I've always been in favor of the reincarnation theory myself, so I believe it's highly possible. I don't know, it just makes sense to me considering that Ganondorf's spirit was bound to his Triforce, it only seemed logical the same would go for the others.

WW seems inconsistent though in a few ways, that being only one of them. The other is WW taking place 100 years after OoT- that doesn't seem like enough time for the Zora to evolve into the Rito, the ocean to rise, and for people to completely forget Hyrule ever existed. : / Unless there was something more going on that was never explained, such as the Goddesses erasing memories and super evolving the Zora.

But then again, we might be missing an important fact. What makes a franchise great. One that is also nostalgic, but also has a few new things to offer. Its entirely possible that the designers purposely leave these kind of things out for the fans to chew there heads out, and then they well forever have The Legend of Zelda in there minds and souls. Very good business. But I personally would like to think that WW has absolutely no connection to the original hero of time. A reincarnation theory is nice and all, but you get the point pretty soon. Think about it as time being a wheel (I will probably be quoting Robert Jordan now). If you constantly have Link getting reincarnated constantly, the Goddesses will constantly have to drop that same soul in that loop again. i personally would like to think that they pick a new person every time. In other words, they have to find someone with the courage of the Original Link, and if they don't find one when he is needed, well, that means that that generation has no more reason to live... I know I might sound depressing, but I just finished Wicked... Anywho, that's my view.
