Welcome to The Sun and The Moon, a club for fans of the pairing between Anju and Kafei in the game of Majora's Mask.

I noticed there seems to be quite a few fans of this pairing around, and some interesting discussion, so I decided to create this club. Feel free to discuss, share graphics, art, fics, whatever!!

Can I join? I like Kafei and Anju's relationship, and I've read some good fics for those two.

Alantie - November 17, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
Sure you can join, Angel Zelda! :yay: And by all means, if you have good fics to share, I'd love to see them! ^^ I haven't read much fanfics for them, unfortunately.

Pssst, I wanna join.

I've read some Anju/Kafei fics, but unfortunately there's been only two that are better than "ok". :( I wish people would write more about them and maybe some AU's or their past or something. Most of them are about their feelings during the moon crisis.

Well, I know a Kafei/Anju fic that I think is good: The Wedding Mask. It hasn't been updated in forever, but I think it's worth a shot.

Sign me up for this club!

I just love the relationship between these two. I mean, it starts out as the most tragic thing ever, with Kafei being turned into a kid and a giant moon coming to crush them all before his wedding to Anju, but things all turn out okay in the end, which makes that heartbreak all the better :D

Alantie - November 18, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
*adds new members* Hurrah! :D I knew this would be popular. ^_^

Ah, thank you for the link, Angel Zelda! I should definitely read that!!!

Y'know, I do write fanfics. If any of you have a plot bunny hopping around for a Anju/Kafei fic, prod it my way and we'll see what I can do. : D

I agree, the tragedy and heartache of Kafei and Anju's relationship is what makes it so beautiful and appealing. They're doomed, but their love for each other remains unwavering and strong. No matter what happens, they're going to face it together. And they know each other so well- if you read Kafei's diary he remarks on how Anju probably hasn't finished making her mask yet, clearly understanding and knowing her character.

Out of curiousity, what do you guys think about the symbolizm of their masks? The sun for Kafei and the moon for Anju. Do you think there's anything there?

Yeah, Kafei and Anju are a bittersweet couple that get their happiness at the end of it all, and that's what makes it appealing to a lot of people. But if you want a really tragic ending to Kafei/Anju, don't give Anju the Pendant of Memories. Help Kafei get the Sun's Mask back, but when he goes to the Stock Pot Inn, Anju won't be there. :(

I haven't done much thinking about the masks, but I'm assuming they're supposed to symbolize Yin and Yang.

Alantie - November 19, 2008 05:07 AM (GMT)
:o That would be horribly sad!!! I've never done that. . . but I've gone to Romani Ranch and seen Anju sitting on the bed upset. T_T It's just horribly tragic to see how distraught she is.

That's a good thought. . . I remember in some mythology from China that the Sun was represented by a man and the moon by a woman. . . so it fits in with that.

That's actually what I thought, too, when I first read the question. I remember from one of my religion courses that Yin is everything warm and masculine while Yang is cold and feminine. But that's not all they represent, of course.

Hey, Alantie. Since you're so set up to do a fic *cough*, why don't you make a fic about Kafei and Anju in Hyrule? You know, Anju the cucco lady and...hm, Kafei could be a distant relative to the Sheikah tribe with those red eyes of his... And that old lady from the Potion shop could be Anju's grandmother, Malon could be Anju's childhood friend etc., etc. ^_^

I've never done that either, but I saw a video on Youtube showing what happens if you don't give Anju the Pendant of Memories. Kafei walks into the employees-only room, Anju isn't there, and he looks at her wedding dress. If you talk to him, he says:

QUOTE (Kafei)
Isn't her bridal dress lovely?
We promised each other when we were children that we'd marry on the day of the Carnival of Time.
...But my promise... I couldn't keep it.

:( So sad.

That's funny, because I was always told that Yin was feminine and Yang was masculine.

Uhh...I can be wrong. Was Yin white and Yang black or the other way round? It's been quite awhile since I had that course...

Actually, Yin was black and Yang was white. And they had a dot of the opposing color in each of the two. I think the dots are supposed to represent that two opposites need to balance each other out in order to work in harmony with each other.

QUOTE
Yin (literally the 'shady place' or 'north slope') is the dark area occluded by the mountain's bulk, while yang (literally the 'sunny place' or 'south slope') is the brightly lit portion. As the sun moves across the sky, yin and yang gradually trade places with each other, revealing what was obscured and obscuring what was revealed.Yin is usually characterized as slow, soft, insubstantial, diffuse, cold, wet, and tranquil. It is generally associated with the feminine, birth and generation, and with the night. Yang, by contrast, is characterized as hard, fast, solid, dry, focused, hot, and aggressive. It is associated with masculinity and daytime.

. . . *feels the wheels start to turn* Hmmmmm. . . that could be interesting. . . should I do it in Hyrule adult timeline or child timeline? :D

Adult, of course! The moon isn't enough, they need a flood to add some angst and drama to their lives. ...Er, right.

I don't really care about the timeline, whichever suits the story, I think. It could be nice to have from the adult timelime, though, since there are many holes between OoT and WW, unlike in the child timeline. Adult timeline has lots of options~~

Speaking of fics, I wrote a series of Kafei/Anju drabbles a few months ago about what went on during the three-day cycle (including one about Anju and Kafei's wedding that takes place during the Dawn of a New Day). I could post them if ya'll want. That is, if they're not too bad. *is very critical of her own writing* ^^'

Hey, I think I read it last week. D: I think it was alright, though I was too tired to review. Post the link, so others can read too~~

You must be talking about something else; my Kafei/Anju drabbles are still in one of my notebooks.

Oh, that's alright. And yeah, I may post them, just not now. Gotta type them up and all.

Alantie - November 23, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
Post please, Angel Zelda!!! I would love to read them!! :yay: They sound awesome!!!

Y'know, maybe we should have a mini AxK drabble challenge in here. Pick a few themes and see who can write/draw/make graphics for them all. ^_^

 Alright, angst, romance, and love coming up!! *starts begining Anju/Kafei AU Hyrule fic*

Sounds great! ^_^ Drables shouldn't be too hard to write for me, either. Or maybe I should draw...Or do both!

!!! Can't wait! Post us link when you get the first chappie done, m'kay?

Angel Zelda - November 23, 2008 05:39 PM (GMT)
Kafei/Anju drabble challenges sound fun, Alantie. Count me in (at least, until I'm finished with my drabbles, which may take awhile)!

EDIT: And my drabbles are up! Read them here.

Alantie - November 26, 2008 04:31 AM (GMT)
I certainly shall give a link when I get the first chapter done! :D I have some interesting ideas going on.

Great, I'm glad you both like the idea!!! We should create a list of themes. . . or steal one from an LJ challenge somewhere.

Ooh, I can't wait to read your drabbles, Angel Zelda!! *clicks link happily*

Oh, I was playing MM last night, and remembering what we were discussing about the Ying/Yang thing, I took a closer look at both the Stock Pot Inn, and the Mayor's House. You might have noticed this. . . but if not, I'd like to point it out. On the Stock Pot Inn by the front door is a moon symbol, and on a flag/banner type thing is a golden sun shaped symbol, very similar to Kafei's mask. Also, I noticed something on the designs on the buildings themselves. They have a very yin yang pattern on them. Pretty awesome, huh?
