Title: Favorite Fanfic Genre
Description: Which one, which one???

Hylian Princess - August 21, 2008 02:45 PM (GMT)
For me, I prefer adventure, drama, suspense, friendship, humor and maybe a bit or general and romance (but I'm no chick-flick lover, so guys quote it to be).

YOU???

Don't ask me what Angst is, because I have no clue... Does anyone else know what it is??? I got that genre off a website for fanfics...

Angst is basically when a character (leading or otherwise) rolls around in self-pity, cries about events past, and makes the reader curl their lip in disgust. ;-)

Me personally, I can go for all the categories above with the exception of parody and angst. Both categories MUST be written well to be read well, and the majority of fan fics that are in either of these categories do not pull off well.

Yeah. I read a cloti fanfic when Cloud and Tifa have been married for three months, when Tifa falls ill to a 100% fatal disease. So, she dies, I cry, and the end. It was the most angsty (sort of) and trajic story ever for me. Oh god, I think I'm gonna cry again. I'm serious... Three months! They knew each other for almost all their life, were married for the FIRST time, and I don't that Cloud would move on after losing so many people he held most dear to him, especially Tifa. Okay, I gotta g-go... Get a ... tis-ssue... later.

I'm a real sucker for friendship-related stuff. Angst and romance are other genres I tend to read a lot. Humor fics are often good, too, but unfortunately I've encountered very many bad ones.

I don't have much faith in adventure fics anymore. I think fanfiction.net is almost polluted with bad adventure fics. Good thing there are still some of those precious well written ones. :P

I'm actually working on serious sci-fi/fantasy stuff and once I get those novels written I'll take a shot at 10 pg fan fics and post them on these very forums.

I got ideas for LinkxZelda CT and AT. LinkxMalon CT and AT. LinkXRuto + Nabooru in the AT. B) Don't worry, I'll keep it at PG-13. ;)

Hylian Princess - September 16, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
Thanks, but you don't have to keep it at PG-13. We're all older than that, at least I think we are :ph43r:

Just one thing: Sex doesn't sell. Trust me. Nor does raping... :shivers:

I'll probably post only my Zelda ideas since this IS a specific LinkxZelda forum. Nothing pornographic but I really want to explore the more phsycological aspect of the romance between LinkxZelda.

In the CT one I'm going with the twin sibling theory and the ending will be that Zelda finally reveals to Link that they are twin siblings after years of marriage and raising a family. The twist is, since Link and Zelda both possess triforces, their children don't have inbreeding side effects and are in essence perfectly healthy children.

In the AT, it will be a WHAT IF thing and the whole aspect of the Oedipus Complex can be more fully explored with man/child Link X comforting and nurturing but also seductive Zelda. :P

Off-topic here, but does anyone have a Fanfiction.Net file???

I'm thinking about signing up to try out my writing skills (Out of a scale of ten, I'm probably at ONE), and to get feedback. It sounds cool, but it's safe, right?

Back-to-topic:

Well, now that you've told us you'll write some finfics, you should keep this in mind...

Writing is never unfinished; it is abandonned.

Some people on Fanfiction.Net are crazy enough to let their readers down and not update at all! Life can not get you away from your work. The more you delay, the more you forget. I've lost faith in way to many writers, it pisses me off when someone doesn't update for more than two years and come up with life excuses!

(This is more of a shout-out to the ABANDONERS... They suck :blehh: )

Currently I'm working on fiction unrelated to Zelda. Once thats done I'll take a crack at a Zelda fanfic for sure. And yes in my OOT fanfic, Link in the throne room and the bedroom will be blindly but loyally following Zelda's orders of course. ;) Very similar to the way he does in the game.

In my TP fanfic, just like the game, Link will not hook up with anyone and it will be a comedy on how he is the prototypical quietly soft spoken obedient robot/perfect gentleman who can never hope of ever getting laid as this picture on his robotic demeanor obviously indicates.

Unless, of course, he's a LOVEBOT!! *cue cheesy music*

MalonsLover - October 4, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
LOL!! Funny you should mention that as I recall reading this funny theory based on the psychology of human behavior that Links submissivly obedient actions when it comes to females in OOT and TP suggest that he is a closet pervert only interested in finding a female love interest that will allow him to be an obedient sex slave.

HAH! That puts a whole new spin on LinkxZelda and LinkxMidna! I mean, who would be more domineering than a ruler of a kingdom! XD

... on a slightly more disturbing note, that probably explains the LinkxGanondorf fics out there >.o

Eww.

ON TO LESS DISTURBING TOPICS!

Who else here finds angst to be unintentionally hilarious?

I'm not talking about situations where a heap of bad things happen to a character (wars and death and doom and stuff), and that character momentarily gives in to the urge to wax poetically about it, before getting back on the metaphorical horse and doing whatever needs to be done.

I'm talking about when something moderately bad happens to a character (like their crush not returning their feelings), who has, up until that point, lead a normal life with only normally bad things happening to them (like stubbed toes and bad grades), yet they go totally off the deep end, claiming that their life is over, and they wish they were dead, and the world would be better off without them, and the only way they can find solace is in the sweet touch of a razor blade upon their withered wrists to let pour the tortured lifeblood of their scarred heart.

Maybe I'm an insensitive freak, but wangsting like that cracks me up ever time!

That sounds like TP Link's sad state of his nonexistant romantic relationship with Zelda as unrequited admirer from afar/perfect gentleman angst. Poor Link. I was actually cheering for him to hook up with Zelda in TP. I guess in his case, nice guys do finish last. :(
