Title: I AM ERROR.
Description: O.o;;

Recently, I've pulled out my good' ol' Zelda collectors edition disc for my GCN and started to play some of those NES Zelda's. Particularly in Zelda II: Link's Adventure, there was a man in that town at a house, looking like any average townsfolk. However, if spoken to, he only replies with "I AM ERROR".

Was he really an error? Or just put in there for comedial purposes? OR, that could really be his name. I think it's both 'he really was an error' and 'for comedial purposes'.

Your thoughts?

(Yeah, I know. Lame discussion. xD)

Ooh. :blink: That's very odd. I think it might be for comedic purposes. :lol: That DOES sound funny. Is it all in capitals? :lol:

Yes. That's what I thought most members would think too! :lol: And it is in all capitals. A screenshot can be provided here:

Heh, I always figured that the translators couldn't find an English equivalent to whatever the guy was saying in Japanese, so they just stuck that in until they figured out what was what. And then forgot about it XD

Nice B)

His name is Error. If you find someone in another village, they say "Talk to Error about the palace." When you talk to him, he says "Passage south of Palace" or something. According to Wikipedia. His name might actually be Errol.

I kinda like Erroe better. It's funnier XD

Oh my, here I am, totally reviving an old topic. Indeed, his name was to be "Errol". Error was just a mistranslation (and not the only one in the series, mind you). He gives multiple hints (such as the dodongo hint) throughout the game.
