Title: The single most Zelinky thing Nintendo ever did
Description: Oh no they di'int! *snap snap*

(Wasn't sure where to put this, but here seems to be a good a place as any :P )
As most of you probably know, during the late 80's-early 90's, DiC, at the behest of Nintendo, came out with a series of thirteen 15-minute cartoons based on the Legened of Zelda and Adventures of Link games.
In a fit of boredom recently, I decided (mostly against my better judgement) to hunker down and watch these things, because it's Zelda, after all, and how scaring could it really be?
So, after about one minute into the first episode, I discovered the truth about these cartoons:
they're 100% ZelinkyLink spends most of his time trying to kiss the princess, and at one point even freaking
Ganon says Zelda's in love with Link! I'm pretty sure this is the only official Nintendo thing where they've stated, without a shadow of a doubt, that Link and Zelda have the hots for each other
So, if anybody wants to watch these episodes, you can find them
HERE (mind, they aren't listed in order, so you'll have to do a bit of scrolling to find episodes in the right order).
Have fun! :D

Someone on YouTube made a video of all the times in the series Link says 'Excuuuuse me" or "Excuuuse me princess."
It was a surprisingly long video :ph43r:
I've watched some of them though, and they're...interesting to say the least. I dont really like Link's character though - he seems too different from how I imagine him in the games.

actully if you beat AoL a curtain comes down over Link and Zelda in the end of the game. :zelink:

Ooh, being the natural dork that I naturally am, I actually watched all of this not too long ago.
The TV series is indeed ZeLinky. But canonically, I didn't like the way they portrayed Link, at all. Maybe this is one of the popular theories why Link was muted for the rest of the games...?
I can't stand seeing a character I've known as a solitary elitest portrayed as a a presumptuous sex god begging to get into Princess Zelda's pants.
But it's always good for the laughs ^_^

Yeah, the cartoon is more of a parody than an accurate retelling, but it makes you appreciate the games even more. Because if the games had turned out anything like the show, this forum probably would have never been created :ph43r:
But I found the cartoon really funny as a whole, and part of that was because it was just so lame and cheesy. Link was oversexed, Zelda was less the princess of Hyrule and more the princess of Snark, and the king was just plain dumb. Sprite was sort of like a forerunner to Navi, and while they kept saying that there were only two pieces of the Triforce (which is silly, since Tri would denote three), the fact that the Triforce of Wisdom sounded like Queen Beryl from Sailor Moon sent me into an apoplectic fit of laughter
...actually, I think I was laughing more at the dialog in my head than the actual stuff they were saying...

When I bought the DVD, I thought it was good. But as soon as I watched it, I had no idea it would be that cheesy and lame. <_< However, I got Captain N came out on DVD, It has Link and Zelda in it and it has Zelink moments in some episodes too. :D :zelink:

It seems to me that a lot of people take for granted how accurate the TV shows were when compared to the games. Most of the items Link carried in the games were present (and used!) in the TV show.
But I agree with the members of the board - Link was WAAAY too immature for my tastes. I remember watching these on Saturday mornings when I was five or six, and I remember thinking then, "Link is so rude!" I can't imagine why on earth the writers would sabotage Link's character like that, but it's set in stone now (BTW, I did some research, and the same group of people who wrote the Zelda shows also wrote the He-Man TV shows. Watch them both and compare them. You will see some similarities!).
BTW again, here is the "Well, exUUUUUUUUUSSSEEE me, Princess!" clip.

Eh... I've caught a glimpse of those episodes before. Really, it just down-plays what the Zelda games are all about. I don't know... Link seems kinda dumb in the cartoon, and Zelda's too prissy and snobby. That there is enough to throw anyone off. Not to mention the repeptition displayed throughout every episode. Ganon comes along, intends to steal the triforce, and is then defeated by Link and Zelda. Now... if it was made into an anime, that would be an entirely different story. I think a Zelda anime would run rather nicely, should it contain mostly serious and suspenseful episodes tagged with a little bit of humour (without making it corny). I think the characters in the OoT manga maintain the roles as they are percieved in the game, including Link and Zelda. If they actually used those personalities for the characters, it would be great. ^^

Yeah. The videos are really corny. I saw this clip when they show all the times Link says "Excuse me, Princess.", like AZ Angel said. After around thirty seconds of it, I had to stop. Then, I saw the first episode, and it was the strangest thing ever! Link in cartoon shows show no similarity to the Link in the games. Mind you, the Link in the games looks much more appealing.
Which reminds me, I saw the trailer for the "Legend of Zelda: The Movie". It is awful! Link looks more like a character in the Lord of the Rings! I know it comes to theatre April 1, 2009, but that's on April fool's. So, is the movie real? Or is it just a joke to make Zelda game fans throw up?

I saw that one. I think it's half-joke/half-serious. We will get to see it on April 1st anyways, won't we? :P
I WILL be interested to see how they do with it - even if it is something of a joke.

No, that was a parody trailer, it was just made as an April Fool's joke, albeit a rather elaborate one XD
... though I'm not quite sure how Link looking like a character from Lord of the Rings would be a bad thing :ph43r:
