M'kay, I know we don't have a lot of members yet, but I was thinking that we should have a contest anyway. I was thinking along the lines of a Fanfiction contest, since the majority of us here seem to be writers. Maybe Amaya or PH or one of the other admins could come up with just one line that has to be used in the fic. What do you guys think?

It's finally time to hear an Admin's opinion after a discussion, yes? ^_^

To keep it simple and sweet, we (meaning, the staff which *currently* consists of me and Amaya) like it. But don't start celebrating yet! There is still a few problems which can be (hopefully) fixed.

First off, we have no prize. As the usual "pretty-graphic" prize was to be given out, it was stated that a pretty graphic wouldn't be worth for the time, effort and thought the members would put into their entry in order to win. That being said, Luna-Nayru isn't currently available so pretty much my graphics would phail. :lol: Unless, Amaya would be willing to make it. Or another member.

Second, this forum is slowly dying. Now I know it's just be the release of the Rev. and we're all probably playing our copies of Twilight Princess, which explains the absence of our members. (Unless you're already thinking about your entry) If we could get CM, gr33n or you guys to show your support in being active within the forum, we'll go on ahead and launch the contest.

Now, this isn't really a con but I thought I might warn you guys about the quotes we may be stating for you to use. I thought I might warn you beforehand because Amaya and I can be pretty...'unexpected' at times. ;)

A reaaaaaaaally long time ago I used to make graphics. We don't have all those fancy editing and graphic programs anymore, but I might be able to code.

I can't do graphics..I possibly could draw something. It'd be nothing fancy since I have no special computer programs, or the knowledge to use one. I'm a traditional type artist and my computer-art training starts Sep. 7th when school starts. I'm sorry if that's not much. T_T

I think most of us here are FF writers, so a small contest wouldn't really be so bad, would it? A prompt, a song, a quote, anything! And artists could use the same thing for a piccie theme. You were talking themes, so what about something similar to the Sailor Moon Monthly Fanfiction Challenge? Their format is to pick a character/group or concept (one month was all crack!fics while another was about what happened after the series) for the month, then every day they post a word, lyrics or image, and you write a little one-shot based around that.

Maybe a light version of that format would work for us?

Well, so far I think we've agreed on a one-shot, no lemon/hentai, and that anyone can do it?

I think we need some form of challenge though, kinda like drabble fics. Like, pick a quote, or make up a line to start and end the story, or pick a character and put them in some odd situation, and see how they react? I don't know, I'm just sprouting ideas :D

I'm not a very good fanfic writer, but I'd try anyway! I need all the practice I can get, lol :P

I'm all for a fanfic contest :) I've been having trouble thinking up workable Zelink ideas, and a prompt and a deadline could turn out to be just the cure I need.

Any set of rules is fine with me, as long as drabbles are accepted. My muses are lazy enough so that I can't promise anything else. :P

I've never drabbled before (ZOMG HOW SHOCKING) so I think I'm up for trying that, as long as we get prompts or a theme or something.

Everyone's all agreed on no lemon/hentai/pr0n stories for this, so why don't we just mimic Twilight Princess and set a max for a T rating? That way we can have a naughty word or two, and some not-too-graphic violence (well, nothing worse that what you would find in a Zelda game ;) ).

How about... stories have a minimum of 100 words? If we're going to be doing that daily drabble thing, most people probably won't need to go over 1000 words (unless they're really inspired, that is).

If we do this in September, that gives us 30 day, 30 themes. What if we have it so contestants can write a drabble a day, but if a particular theme (or themes) leaves them uninspired, they can simply skip that particular day and wait for the next theme option? And those who do finish all 30 themes get a complementary completionist award?

(And if all six of us write a drabble a day, we'll end up with 180 at the end, and that's a lot of drabbles XD)

What else..? Oh, who's going to be judging this thing, as well as deciding the themes? The admins, I would assume, but which ones?

That's all I can think of, so if anyone else has ideas, we've only got three days till September starts ^-^;;

Haha, okay. I guess it's time for me to put down my thoughts, I have been lurking at this topic for quite a while.

I'd be happy to help in the judging with Amy, since we are the only active admins around lately. Hylian Cetra is on at some points, but I can't seem to get a hold of her. I know that one (and only?) mod is active in another forum, so maybe I could get her to help us out with the judging as well.

In regards to prizes, I like the idea of a 'surprise prize' of some sort, so I'll talk this over with you in private, Amaya :P.

I'm terribly sorry for replying to this so lately, but since September is just right around the corner (more like, 3 days or so) we might have to start this at a later date. Hopefully, not too much later. :P

I don't really want to limit the participants to anything, so I'm open to any ideas and what that you can think up. The more unique, the better. If we have a final decision on drabbles, you won't have to think up of all 30 drabble themes, Amy. I could think up half and - if we're lucky - HC or Luna could think up some as well.
