Title: Reincarnation
Description: Debate it here
Alantie - September 26, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Its probably one of the most debated subjects ever concerning Link and Zelda. The Reincarnation Theory. Some of us fans belive that the Link and Zelda in all the games are the same person, much like Ganondorf is the same person throught the games. So, this is a thread to debate it, share proof, whatever. Go at it everyone!
CrazygurlMadness - September 26, 2006 03:54 PM (GMT)
I'd rather not take the poll because it's a very ambiguous subject, but I know for sure that Link and Zelda aren't the exact same people from game to game. Sure, the original LoZ and AoL have the same characters, in the same sense that tWW and Phantom Hourglass have the same characters, but I firmly believe that the Link from LA and the Link from OoT are not the same Link.
Therefore, I approve of the multiple Links theory.
If it was always the same lil guy... that'd be screwed up.
Plus, Aonuma confirmed at E3 2005: "Yes, he is a new Link."
AmayaSaria - September 26, 2006 11:25 PM (GMT)
I'm not really sure. I'd like to think that their souls find each other time after time, but have no memory of their past life. Quite sad, but its still quite romantic that they still find each other no matter what.
Kinda like in this little blurb of lyrics.
| QUOTE (By Heart) |
Until the stars fall from the sky Until I find the reason why And darling as the years go by Until there's no tears left to cry 'Til the angels close my eyes And even if we're worlds apart I'll find my way back to you... By heart |
But there are some exceptions. (well for me, at least.) I'd like to think that in SSBM that they remember each other, even though they don't really talk or anything, it still nice to think that.
But in all honesty, I have no clue. In Wind Waker, I'd like to believe that their two souls just found each other....
But for TP I'm not sure what to think. *crosses her fingers*
Yeah. I don't make that much sense. Sorry XD

*dies* That is a BEAUTIFUL way of putting it Amaya, and those lyrics fit perfectly.
I'm hoping maybe TP will shed more light on this reincarnation theory. I remember this quote I read in a fanfic or something somewhere. It was something like this: When the world is at peace, the spirit of the hero sleeps. When the world is torn, the hero is reborn. I kinda feel that's how it is with Link and Zelda. . . it just seems to fit, seems right.
Ingie - September 27, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
Oy, now there's a poll?? ...If people want to believe Link and Zelda are reincarnated, then go right ahead. But I'll always disagree- mostly because reincarnation weirds me out.
There's no proof that they're reincarnated (Don't bring up the Ganon thing in TWW, he could have easily mistaken Link for the true Hero of Time. He's an old man afterall... XD), and Aonuma did say there are multiple Links and Zeldas.
I'm beginning to regret ever starting this... :(

 :funny:
Okay, Ganny IS old, but I still think he knows what he's talking about. I mean, for all of his evilness, Ganondorf really isn't stupid, and I think he would know his enemy when he saw him. (At least, I hope he would :P )
And the poll? Just for fun. I was bored, lol. You don't have to take it, or even take it seriously.
Don't regret starting it, Ignie, its a good topic to debate! *rubs hands together* Just about as much fun as the whole timeline of the games  I still haven't managed to unravel that one!
gr33n_sl33ves - September 27, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
I don't think anyone is going to figure out the whole timeline thing. I tired once, but the whole thing got so convoluted and confusing that I couldn't make head or tails of what I'd written down >_<
The only conclusion I've come to, that doesn't end with my brain exploding, is that the games all take place in parallel realities, with some that share a common link (or Link, as it were), while others are off all on their own.
As for the reincarnation thing, I'm kinda iffy on that. The romantic in me likes the thought of Link and Zelda's spirits finding each other throughout time, while the realist in me finds the idea odd.
But no matter how you look at it, reincarnated or not, Link, Zelda and Ganon(dorf) are all bound together by the Triforce. There will always be a Dark Wizard to threaten the world, a Princess to stand up to the darkness when no one else would, and a Hero to ultimately vanquish the Wizard. The Wizard has Power, the Princess has Wisdom, and the Hero has Courage. This could mean that the Triforce pieces go to the soul who had them last, or that they search out people with similar qualities to their last holder.
I think, in the end, Nintendo purposely leaves everyone in the dark about the whole reincarnation thing so that each individual player can make what they will of it, based on their personal beliefs and experiences, which makes the games more meaningful to those who play them.
That, or Nintendo likes to screw with people.

Spot on, as always. LOL.
Dirty Harry - September 28, 2006 01:42 PM (GMT)
Oh yes. Ganny knows all..
That weird feeling beneath my robes tells me that its the Princess of Destiny. Wait, no...that was me wetting my pants again from my fear of Link. Curses.
CrazygurlMadness - September 28, 2006 03:42 PM (GMT)
Ganon: "Why does my Triforce always resonate around them? The last person I want to be paged by is them!"
At least we can all agree that Ganny is the same old Ganny throughout.
Must suck to get your butt kicked so badly over and over again by some nobody silent kid from the outskirts of Hyrule (and a magical lockpick ninja pirate girl princess). I wonder what he'll come up with next.
gr33n_sl33ves - September 28, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
It doesn't matter what he comes up with next, because he's still going to get his butt whooped.
Though I will admit I get a sick sort of pleasure at watching all of a tyrant's carefully laid plans get shattered into a million tiny pieces by someone hot, like Link :P
CrazygurlMadness - September 28, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
Very true. :nods in approval:
Alantie - September 28, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
Ah, good ol' Ganny! ^_^ I suppose I have a strange, sick, sadistic addiction to watching him get his booty kicked time after time. :D
Well, if I accept that OoT is the first in the timeline of the games, then it actually helps support the reincarnation theory, since that would be the time when they were all tied to the fate of the Triforce, binding Link and Zelda to be the ones to fight him for all eternity. It never really explains what it is about the Triforce of Power though that makes Ganny unkillable. . .
CrazygurlMadness - September 28, 2006 09:16 PM (GMT)
I think Ganny was unkillable even before he got the Triforce.
But I don't know why. :ph43r:
gr33n_sl33ves - September 29, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
Maybe it's because he's a Gerudo guy? Maybe it takes a century or so to produce one because they're built strong to last long or something. We're never told what happened to all the other Gerudo males in the past, so it could be that they're all hiding out somewhere, being all indestructable and old together. That or I'm grasping at straws ^-^;;
CrazygurlMadness - September 29, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
 The Old Gerudo Men's Club. Bring your membership card. LOL
They kicked Ganny out because he had no fairy. This ticked him off and brought him to the dark side.
:giggle: :yay:
gr33n_sl33ves - September 30, 2006 04:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I could see him stalking off, yelling back, "Fine then! I'll make my own club! And it'll be better! It'll be EVIL!"
And he goes home and cries to his Ganon plushie XD
Alantie - October 1, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
:funny: Lol  You guys are insane! :D I don't think it has anything to do with him being a Gerudo. Maybe its just the fact that the Triforce of Power is raw strength. The strength to continue to live, no matter how many times you're stabbed through the eyes/heart/head*shrug* Who knows?
CrazygurlMadness - October 1, 2006 03:07 AM (GMT)
Yes, Triforce blah blah. Boring. I still think it's because he turned over to the dark side of the Force because his Ganon plushie told him to.
Dirty Harry - October 1, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
Maybe it's because he's got the urge.
The urge to...
Reproduce? Hang on, damn biology...
He's got the urge...
for...
GENGEANCE!
Crap. Can't spell.
VENGEANCE.
Better, eh?
gr33n_sl33ves - October 2, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
Well, he's quite a strong-willed character, so it could be that, coupled with his Triforce piece that makes him so durable.
Dirty Harry - October 4, 2006 11:28 AM (GMT)
It makes him sound like a toy.
Hey, pair Ganondorf with the Triforce to increase his durability! :D
Alantie - October 4, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
:funny: That sounds too true ^_^ I dunno, its just something that Nintendo has never explained well enough to satisfy me. I still think they're all the same Link, Zelda, and Ganny in all the games, but whatever ^_^
gr33n_sl33ves - October 5, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
"The new Ganondorf, by Mattel! He slices! He dices! He destroys entire kingdoms before getting his ass handed to him by a kid half his size! Get yours TODAY! (Triforce of Power sold separately)"
CrazygurlMadness - October 5, 2006 01:23 AM (GMT)
:funny:
Ganondorf action figure: 50.75$
Triforce of Power expansion pack: 24.99$
Publicity for both items: 120 000.60$
Fan humour: priceless.
For everything else, there's the massive bag o' rupees.
gr33n_sl33ves - October 6, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
:funny:
Making fun of Ganondorf is so fun, it should be illegal
Alantie - October 10, 2006 03:30 PM (GMT)
:funny: That it is.
You would think a guy who can't die would eventually learn something, but he never seems to, does he? He keeps making the same mistakes over and over. He always underestimates Link and Zelda. :D
CrazygurlMadness - October 10, 2006 03:42 PM (GMT)
All the more reason to wuv him. :huggles Ganny:
gr33n_sl33ves - October 11, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
 Well, maybe he thinks that if he does the same thing over and over again, all the kinks in his plan will eventually work out, so he might actually defeat the good guys one day. Or so he hopes :P
Alantie - October 11, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
Rofl  Maybe. Or maybe he just isn't original. He likes to stick to the basics. Throw thousands of horrendous but unintelligent beasties at the hero to make him stronger before fighting him himself!
CrazygurlMadness - October 12, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
Link: *waving around the Sword of Evil's Bane* Get a clue, Ganondorf! I've been fighting you for centuries now! And you keep losing!
Ganondorf: Mom always said practice makes perfect, you bloody elf!
Alantie - October 12, 2006 03:07 PM (GMT)
:funny: Poor, poor Ganny. He just doesn't get it! Well, maybe he thinks that since Link is reincarnated and can't remember his past life, the same evil master plan will work on him, so he doesn't bother to change it. . .
Dirty Harry - October 14, 2006 08:36 AM (GMT)
*big battlefield outside Hyrule Castle*
Link: Which one of your mothers told you that?
Ganon: Ohh! Wanna say that again, fool? Let's take this outside, see who's da real man!
Link: Uh...Ganon, no offense, but we are outside. And you're more pig than man.
Ganon: Oh curses...beaten again...
Yes. More Ganon and Link being gangster. I should make them be Pommish next...
gr33n_sl33ves - October 14, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
Ganny just never learns. And beating his sorry arse down just never stops to be funny XD
Dirty Harry - October 23, 2006 08:38 AM (GMT)
*Link and Ganon are duelling...AGAIN*
Link: I do say, good sir, is this the umpteenth time that we may have duelled?
Ganon: By Joel, it is! My good sir, shall we fetch ourselves some tea and biscuits?
Link: Of course, of course, jolly good! Zelda? Tea and biscuits please!
That was totally random. :D
gr33n_sl33ves - October 23, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
Hah! The battles between Ganon and Link are like the
Fish Slapping Dance! Ganon hits Link over and over with "little fish" (i.e. the hoards of monsters), while link comes in and belts Ganon into the Thems with a big fish (the Thems being oblivion, and the big fish being the Master Sword) XD
Dirty Harry - October 28, 2006 04:17 PM (GMT)
Sounds good. Let's do that again. :D
Well, if they are reincarnated...then you couldeasily have a grandfather paradox, no?
What happens to the spirits when they are resting?
And if they aren't...oh boy, too late, I'm getting confused...
So switch questions earlier with this one...
They...
Oh, cnnot think now. To ^>^^<^ to think.

LOL! Thats funny!
Well, hopefully, when Miyamoto-san makes the final game, Ganon will die (DIE! I MEAN DIE!) and Link and Zelda will kiss, get married, *giggles* :giggle: , and have a beautiful family! There must be an end, a peaceful Hyrule that will last forever . . . or somthin! Link and Zelda's spirits . . . their final rendevous (i spelled it wrong, I know) which will last forever! (Like the new Heaven and New Earth! Lol yea I'm being silly! XD) But, somthing like that should happen . . . ne?
Alantie - November 21, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
I like that idea! But alas, like Final Fantasy, I don't think that Zelda is going to end. At least, not anytime soon!
Dirty Harry - November 26, 2006 05:09 AM (GMT)
Nono, when I get an emulator for all games, then Ganon may die. :D
Otherwise, Ganon, live on.
When will that LoZ fan film be ready???!?!?!
