It's probably one of the most debated topics ever in LoZ: Sheik's gender. Is Sheik the male alter ego of Zelda, or is Sheik just Zelda crossdressing? :lol: Share your opinions here, debate, whatever!

In the game OOT, I believe Sheik is really a girl, basically Zelda in disguise...

....but I have no proof of that. For the OOT game, they seemed to simplify the story more.

The OOT manga seems to have more depth in the story....so I think Sheik is a guy in the manga, but a girl in the game.

Although in that part they may be referring to her being a "boy" in disguse. So I don't really know.

OoT; her voice sounds like a girl. Assuming from her age, as we can see, being compared to Link (in terms of height, and body build) she looks like she was a girl with a VERY tight bodice of some kind on.

OoT Mange: Definitely boy in disguise. Refer to number four? of manga in which she explains to Link why she was hiding who se truly was, and why she disguised as a Sheika BOY. It's all confusing.

Anything else, I dunno...

I think what it comes down to is that Sheik is a part of Zelda, whatever way you want to look at it. Whether Sheik is male or female doesn't really matter since Sheik is truly Zelda, and we all know Zelda is female. *shrug* I know the people who like yaoi like to believe that Sheik is a boy since they like Link with other males. . . Grah, its a very confusing topic, isn't it?

But I read through the OoT manga chapter where Zelda reveals herself to Link, and I started thinking about something. I think most people assume that when Zelda sent Link back in time to live out his seven years, they think that she stayed in the future. But from what it says in OoT manga, Zelda sealed away her consiousness for seven while she was Sheik, the same way Link was sealed away. So in a way, Zelda missed out on those seven years too. . . so maybe she sent herself back as well? Bleh, so confusing! :blink:

Hmm...she probably did. Otherwise it doesn't explain why there is a Zelda in Link's past. Because otherwise in the Ganondorf alternate future there must be another Link, and then...yeah.

My gosh, I refuse to argue this. SHEIK IS ZELDA. It doesn't matter if anyone in the game refers to Sheik as "he" because Zelda is afterall disguised as a boy. It's still her, she merely used magic to change her appearance. It even says so on one of the SSBM Sheik trophies, and that's official!

There are few things that irritate me more than Link/Sheik yaoi. It's SO inaccurate and SO stupid. -_-

I am glad we agree ^_^ The Sheik/Link yaoi crap just really gets on my nerves, for all the reasons you've stated. Sheik is Zelda disguised as a boy. Zelda is a girl, otherwise she'd be called 'Prince' of Hyrule. And that is that.

Sheik's a chick, imo. Zelda's just big on disguises, lol. In OOT and SSBM, Sheik does come across as feminine. I always thought the princess just used magic to change her outer appearance (like making her skin darker) but was the same person on the inside.

The manga is really great and I love it, but it's not strictly canon. The author took some liberties and decided to have Sheik become another half of Zelda, rather than simply being Zelda herself.

In either case, Zelda is Sheik. Sheik doesn't exist as his own person, because technically there is no "Sheik". It's just a chick dressed as a ninja. And poo on the yaoi fanpoodles who say otherwise.

I never really understood the fascination towards yaoi that some fangirls have (I don't think I've ever seen a yaoi fanboy). I mean, if it was canon, I'd be fine with it (because then it would be legitimate and all), but to arbitrarily throw two straight guys together, just because they're "kewt bois" seems kinda silly to me. And whenever they do that, they always make one out who would be "on top", as it were, and then they make the other one bee all girly and wear a wedding dress (they're really fond of their wedding pictures, those yaoi fangirls).

And there are quite a few yaoi fangirls I've seen who think Link/Ganondorf is awesome x_x

It's hard to tell, really. Is it a magic disguise? Does she actually change her gender? We'll probably never know.

This all depends on how we view it. For example, I think that Sheik, as Sheik, is a man. When we see the character, we can't call him Zelda. When Zelda is herself, she can't be Sheik. If you go by the game, it would be Sheik is a dude because Ruto calls him one. If you go by the manga, I think she was turned into one.

But besides these silly points, Sheik is all girl. LOL
