Title: Wedding Plans! :D
Description: I could NOT help myself....
AmayaSaria - July 7, 2006 04:52 AM (GMT)
M'kay I wanted to make this thread soooo bad! I've always wanted to plan their darn wedding!
Remember this is all what if's.....or just thinking of how the proposal would happen, who would wear what, what kind of wedding, who'd be there, their honeymoon,...etc.
'kay? I'm really excited to hear your opinions.
I just love love love picturing Link and Zelda's wedding.
There's about 3 possibilites for their wedding:
1) A big royal wedding
2) A small forest wedding
3) A BIG forest wedding
3) The two of them not wanting to wait, running of and eloping.
I like number two/3 the best....I can picture that really well.
Just a little spot in the forest....Link, Zelda, Zelda's father, Impa, Saria...and the friends Link made. Well...that'd be for the bigger wedding.
...If it was a small forest wedding, I'd say only the close friends/family. Zelda's father, Impa, Saria...maybe Malon or some other people. Not too many. Some pretty flowers, not too much decorating.
Zelda, instead of a long flowing gown, I'd like to picture her in something simple, but very beautiful. A dress with see-through sleeves, that's a little higher than her feet. Maybe even knee length.
Link....hmm I've been having trouble on his outfit....any ideas?
After their marriage, they could ride off on Epona into the sunset!....haha I love sappy corny stuff like that. (sometimes)
Any ideas? Feel free to share them ^_^
Lutearina - July 18, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
Hmmm.....I'd want Zelda in a pretty, elegant gown. ^_^
And as for WHERE? I can see a forest wedding....
Although it'd be most "appropriate" for a Royal wedding for a princess.
So maybe they'll have a big ceremony for the wedding thing, and then have another smaller forest wedding....With close friends/family. :)
Dirty Harry - July 18, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
What about, like in the sky thingo, during the end of OoT?
Is that the perfect proposal place, or the perfect wedding spot?
Hmm...like, a sailor's outfit? Dark, navy blue, jacket with white shirt and leggings, and brown "made-for-show-only" boots? And a privateer's hat? Like, those pointed corsair ones, with a feather through 'em or something...this is for Link's outfit.
HEHEH! GANONDORF FOR BEST MAN!

*spits soda everywhere, bursting out laughing* Ganny as best man? BWAHAHAHAHA!!! I think Link would want Darunia as best man. Funny, Link has more female friends than male  So that leaves Mido and Darunia as his guy friends. . .
Ah, yes, I love the idea of Link proposing to Zelda in that place in the sky  Lol, I am such a hopless romantic when it comes to things like that.
As for the wedding, grah, I like the idea of a nice simple wedding in the Kokiri Forest, but being a Princess, Zelda would probably be required to have a huge formal Royal wedding. Like at the Temple of Time? That would be a nice place for a wedding, and rather symbolic and meaningful for the couple.
And I insist upon Zelda having a long veil. I HATE those short little fluffy veils >_<
Mmm, and flowers? Maybe some nice white lillies for Zellie's bouquet, or white roses, pink maybe, baby's breath. . . A single rose for buttonholes and stuff. Saria would make a cute flowergirl!
Dirty Harry - July 19, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
NOOO! GO GANON! GANON FOR BEST MAN!
Mido for ring carrier. Darunia for...I dunno. *Darunia stands up, and says* "Drinks on the house!"
Hmmm...maybe...inside...Ganon's castle...they can have a wedding...or in Termina...what about there? Somewhere there, I dunno...
Paladin's Heart - July 19, 2006 01:34 PM (GMT)
Gaah, I'm no good at planning outfits and stuff like that <_<. I've only got the place in my head.
I think I'm the only one who really likes the idea of them having a wedding inside a big chapel or something. The Temple of Time sounds nice but it's a sacred temple. I don't think the Gods would like such a festive event in something so holy and divine. But, it IS for the wedding for the Hero of Time and The Princess of Hyrule, let alone the 7th sage. We can make exceptions :P. But anyways, I can see the Temple beautifully decorated in a very holy theme and royal, lots of white and a little bit of gold. Fabrics hanging from the ceiling here and there like a rippling ocean, the pews decorated with lacy ribbons and hung together by a tissue paper corsage. Instead of that red carpet, it's going to be white :D.
As for the outfits, I can see Link wearing a tux, but he's still got his trademark green cap. I can never see Link without that cap.. I have no idea what I want Zelda to wear.
Best Man? I don't know . I have no idea to give what role to which person. I'll let you guys decide on that.
CrazygurlMadness - July 19, 2006 03:45 PM (GMT)
No wedding. :) Common-law spouses, rather.
... <_<
Just kidding.
Paladin's Heart - July 19, 2006 05:13 PM (GMT)
^ xD.
This is just for fun. We (or rather, I) don't plan on actually awaiting for their marriage in a game, but it's kind of fun squeeing over and thinking about the idea, no?
But, if Destiny calls for being common-law spouses... then so be it.
Alantie - July 19, 2006 06:18 PM (GMT)
Rofl. If Ganny were best man, he'd probably try to kill the groom and kidnap the bride! *shakes finger at Ganny* No no! SHAME!! :P
Lol, I can't see Link without his green cap either Paladin! It would just be. . . wierd! He'd look kinda naked without it! Mmm, I think I had a fanart somewhere of a Zelink wedding, but I can't recall where. . . But Zelda needs an absolutely stunning gown. . . a long train. . . beautiful embroidery. . .
Maid of honor would have to be Impa. She's the one who's closest to the Princess, so it makes sense!
CrazygurlMadness - July 19, 2006 07:44 PM (GMT)
Actually, I can very easily picture Link without his hat. Short but still kinda longish hair. Like in TP's opening, actually. That's exactly how I pictured him hatless all along.
See any art of Link in his wrangler's outfit.
Though maybe it's my AU mind speaking out there. You know us modern fans. We can think up just about anything that's outlandish. :P
Dirty Harry - July 20, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
Or in the OoT Manga. You can see it in the Volvagia chapter...
CrazygurlMadness - July 20, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
Yes, though the mangaka added a little ponytail to his hairdo. I dunno. Ponytails don't do it for me. I just imagine him with messy, cropped hair. Like in WW or TP. But not long enough to be able to make a ponytail.
Long hair is good, but not on Link. It's more Viggo Mortensen-ish. And Viggo is definitely hot stuff, too, so...
Although, anyway you put him, Link's hot, so the hair thing really doesn't matter.
Alantie - July 20, 2006 10:45 PM (GMT)
Ah! I had forgotten about Link's little ponytail in the manga  It looks so funny!
Heehee!
Ahem! Anywho, I'm thinking Impa Maid of Honor. Ruto, Nabooru, and Malon bridesmaids. . . Saria flowergirl. .. Lets see, colorwise for dresses. .. *squints* I don't want to say pink since that's so common for weddings, but its either a nice spring pink, or light green (or a pretty forest green).
Lutearina - July 21, 2006 03:45 PM (GMT)
Link looks quite cute without his hat, actually. ^_^ He's got a cute little blonde head. :D He looks....Littler without it. *Is totally repeating herself xD Speaking of repeats, I get to see PoTC2 AGAIN today! xD*
Dirty Harry - July 21, 2006 04:21 PM (GMT)
Hmm...we should have a topic on hairstyles for Link.
CrazygurlMadness - July 21, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Dirty Harry - July 24, 2006 02:48 PM (GMT)
Well...what did you think of my costume for Link for wedding? I copied will's from POTC3
It's in there...like, on the first page, and I can't find it, so I'm sorry, can't show. But go and take a look, yeah!
HyruleMaster - November 28, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
:yay: Oh, oh! For Link's outfit... maybe it can be some sort of white tunic... except... more elaborate and fancy-ish. He can have a cape, too! And of course he'd still have his hat. ^-^ He can't part with his hat... (Though it would be white, too... it would be horrible fashion sense if it was green and the rest was white.) Meh, that's how I always imagined it. ^^ :link:
Well, maybe since Zelda is the only heir to Hyrule's throne... their wedding would be a big royal one? I once read a fan fiction that was like that. (It made my nose bleed from the cute fluffleness.) :giggle:
Back to the Link's outfit... maybe he would look good without his hat... there's that ponytail of his.
Alantie - November 28, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
I like the idea of Link in white. It makes me think of Legolas in Return of the King, his pretty white outfit. And a cape, most definately!!! :D
Maybe Link and Zelda could have two weddings. The first a small private one with their closest friends, and the other a big public wedding for the masses.
Dirty Harry - November 29, 2006 07:36 AM (GMT)
Hehehe...Link in leather...
(CGMs thought train)

(Out of CGM's head)
Mind, what do you think Link would look like in an Organisation XIII outfit. I was thinking if we could make a Legend of Zelda vs KH fanfic thingo, I would give Link a Organisation XIII thingo. Yeah. Imagine him wearing that to a wedding!
Saphine - December 7, 2006 08:04 AM (GMT)
I would imagine Zelda's Coronation to be very grand, and public for all her people to see and rejoice, whereas the binding of vows would take place in a more pleasantly small, and elegant manner.
... But there could possibly be two weddings. For the public, and for themselves. I personally feel that this is very probable, and would both be different on their own terms. The marriage in public would be more like the welcoming of King Consort, and Hero, Link into the royal family. The private marriage, I would imagine, would be more personal and loving, and Zelda could possibly take on Link's name.
I can see both very clearly, too.
Dirty Harry - December 10, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
WAIT! WHAT ABOUT THE PROPOSAL SCENE! WE'VE GONE TOO FAR AHEAD!
Like...I dunno, running in from some dungeon, get the girl and propose? It sounds waayy too cliche...hee...what about a propsal scene? Ideas on that?
Wisdom_Triforce - July 27, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
For proposal, I can see Link taking Zelda out of the castle, and into Hyrule Field for a picnic. After a nice, light meal they walk along a stream. The weather becomes bad but not too bad; it started out really nice sun and nice breeze but then it rains. The rain is not too heavy but nor is it too light. And it's only raining, no lightening or thunder. They head for shelter under a tree overlooking Hyrule and wait for it to stop, Link talking about pointless crap. They sun appears once again, light breeze and all. There's a rainbow. Link pops the The Question suddenly. He mentions things like "I've been your hero since we were young...Can I be by your side and your hero into old age? Will you marry me, Zelda?"
Zelda cries and Link (who has never been too good with girls, as we all know :giggle:) is alarmed, thinking what he said was wrong and tries to calm her down. Then she says Yes. Link is still trying to stop her from crying and then her answer finally got to him. "What," he asks. She whips away the tears that now only beading at the corners of her eyes. "I said yes, Link, I will marry you."
Link grins, scoops her into his arms, does the swing-'er-around thing laughing and does the cliche "SHE SAID YES" scream into the heavens.
They're on their horses heading back to Hyrule when Zelda grins, looking forward and not at him and say, "Of course, you'll have to get past my father first..."
Then she surges forward laughing leaving a baffled Link behind when it finally registered. He tore after her, "WAIT WHAT?!!"
....And that's what I have. I think that last bits funny. But my sense of humor is weird and often off and dry. So you might not think so.
*hand is twitching for a pencil to sketch zelda's wedding dress and Link's wedding outfit. *
i can see Zelda in the traditional white with some gold embroidery, her hair in a half up hair do sorta thing. Her flower banguet are combo of Arbutus (pink and those mean 'you alone I love'), white Chrysanthemum (which mean I believe in you), and and purple iris (it basically means you have captured my heart, ect.ect.)
I can see Link without his cap. I have an out fit for him but I'll have to draw it first then I'll have to post it here. With Zelda of course.
And I can see the two weddings thing. :zelink:
(Side note: Dang, this is the fifth time I've edited this post because of typos. T_T)
Alantie - July 27, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Aww, lol! That is so sweet! I can see that happening- poor Link wondering what he's done wrong and Zelda weeping tears of joy. :D
And the dress you described for Zellie sounds beautiful! If you do draw a wedding picture, I'd LOVE to see it!
Wisdom_Triforce - July 27, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
If you go to the fanart topics, I've got it posted there.

Objection! Link in leather would have to be reserved for the honeymoon.
...
I wish Link could propose to Zelda in a way that would traditionally be unromantic. Something like...
Link: "Zelda, don't get any ideas or anything but, hypothetically and theoretically, would you consider ever marrying me? Or, like, are we just going to, I don't know, keep sneaking around for a few good romps here and there? Not, you know, that I mind or anything. Because I don't. I'm just curious and all. I wouldn't presume to ask you something with any intentions or anything, so if you think marriage isn't such a good idea, that's great. I was just wondering."
Zelda: "... Um, so, you're asking if I would ever marry you?"
Link: "Um. Yeah. I guess I am. But that's not--"
Zelda: "I guess I would. Hypothetically."
Link: "Hypothetically?"
Zelda: "Why do you ask? "
Link: "Just curious."
Zelda: "Uuuuh-huh."
Link: "Well, I mean, I guess I'm kind of glad that you'd theoretically marry me."
Zelda: "And why's that?"
Link: "'Cause I sort of bought this ring. Here."
Zelda: "I thought it was hypothetical!"
Link: "Well, I guess not."
Zelda: "Oh."
:glomp:
Followed by something CENSORED
Anyway, yeah.
Unromantic is the new romantic.
Alantie - July 28, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
:giggle:
Oh dear, lol! You've got a point there, unromantic can be very romantic at times!
And I agree, Link in leather is saved for the honeymoon. Speaking of the honeymoon. . . where do you think they would go for theirs? Maybe Termania? They could stay at the Stock Pot Inn! Or maybe Zelda has a summer palace they would go to. Or the beach! That way Link would get to see Zelda in a bikini, and he'd be in swim trunks. :D
CrazygurlMadness - July 28, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
A shack deep in the woods, where no one --not even a new apocalypse-- will bother them for a full month.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if that were to happen . .. Someone needs to write a fic on this!
HyruleMaster - December 30, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
What do you think Link and Zelda's rings would look like?
zelda-in-disguise - August 8, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
Hmm. I'm thinking not too simple, but not too elaborate. Elegant, but not complicated. Maybe an emerald ring for Link with two small diamonds on either side of the emerald. A diamond ring for Zelda with two small saphires on either side of the diamond. Maybe a carving on the inside of the ring saying "destined to be together" or "together forever" or "together always."

I've never replied to this topic.
I'm definately with you on the big chapel thing but I can't see any other place being right but the Temple of Time. If any one place qualifies as "their place", it's there. And the Song of Time is their own song. I don't think it would be inappropriate...Link is the Hero of Time and Zelda can be called the Sage of Time...the aspect of time is their theme.
Decoration/ceremony wise, I don't see any alterations...just Link and Zelda walking together as one to the alter to be married before some clergy. I don't see a crowd being appropriate in there, more outside waiting for them. I do see Zelda doing the white dress thing, but maybe somewhat simple. Still reflecting who she is though.
Link I see as just dressing as himself, just cleaned up a bit.
MalonsLover - September 30, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
I figured OOT Link would wear the magic armor from TP during the wedding ceremony with Zelda and it would be either in Hyrule Castle or the Temple of Time as you said.
In a LinkxMalon more than likely he would wear the standard Hero tunic and the wedding and reception would be at Lon Lon ranch where all the people and races are invited similar to the joyous celebration there during the OOT ending credits.
In a LinkxZelda I can see Malon being a bridesmaid as some sort. But in a LinkxMalon I can't picture Zelda attending the wedding due to her probably going through a period of heartbreak over Link not choosing to be with her. But as I said before, in a theoretical LinkxMalon, Zelda would more likely get over the initial heartbreak and continue to be supportive of Link as the comforting and nurturing childhood best friend. More likely, Zelda would still provide Link with sagely wisdom and guidance in him being Hyrule's number one Knight/Vassal/Hero in protecting the land of Hyrule and its people & diverse races.
Twilight Mistress - September 30, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I actually cannot picture Link and Zelda getting married. Common law, but not married. Marriage doesn't always mean that the relationship will last forever particularly because there seems to be some trend when it comes to divorce rates. Besides... people tend to work harder at the relationship when they cannot soley depend on the ties of marriage to keep them together. That's my two cents, anyway.
MalonsLover - September 30, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
True...plus there is the possibility that Link and Zelda are actually fraternal twin siblings seperated at birth anyway. But since MM ends the child timeline, who knows really on who Link actually ends up with.

Given Zelda's position as the kingdom's monarch, I don't see a common law marriage going over too well with her subjects: in an old fashioned sense the heirs could be considered illegitimate. ( And they would have been in that day and culture )
I've always seen husband as being there to also reassure the people and provide stability.
I like the idea of Link and Zelda formalizing their already unspoken union quite a bit. He's already her partner, it's just making it formal and declaring it.
MalonsLover - September 30, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
I tend to agree with you in that I see a LinkxZelda marriage having to be more ritualistically formal. Common law marriage would probably be more associated with a LinkxMalon. But it doesn't mean that it can't last. There are more than enough real life examples to prove this despite high divorce rates nowadays. My brother, several of my cousins, and one of my uncles are in common law married relationships and each one has been living with their partners for years now. More so with my uncle when it comes to more years in making the common law marriage a lasting commitment.
gliderpilotgirl - October 1, 2008 02:55 AM (GMT)
The formality is an inescapable part of who Zelda is: she'll always be the ruler of her people, first and foremost. To be this she has to honor their traditions...I see marriage as one of them regardless of how she personally feels.
I think Link would be the most blessed man in Hyrule to marry Zelda: most men in the kingdom would likely kill for the chance to be at Zelda's side permanently. It's a position of influence and she is a woman of great worth.
To join the debate:

With all respect to the real people mentioned above, I've always felt that if you love someone enough to have that kind of relationship, putting it down on paper and declaring it publicly should be a small thing. A marriage vow shouldn't exist to keep two people together, it should be a declaration of the strength of their feelings. I'm married in real life so I'm obviously going to feel that way versus how others do, but I value marriage highly.
Anyways: the wedding.
So Temple of Time, private ceremony, etc. I do see a grand coronation to follow though and that would serve as the introduction of Link as the Royal/King Consort.
I've always suspected that the reason Zelda retains the title Princess instead of Queen when she is the ruler is because she is unmarried ( the old fashioned fairy tale style ). In this her marriage would also likely mean she would gain the title of Queen.
MalonsLover - October 1, 2008 05:51 AM (GMT)
I figured she would only retain the title of princess because the King of Hyrule is still alive. Anyway for the sake of discussion, lets just say that the King is dead therefore he can't object to a non royal outsider like Link marrying his daughter. Anyway...in a theoretical LinkxZelda marriage, I can see Zelda as Queen permitting Link to have some royal responsibilities involving the military and being a royal representative of the common people/races of Hyrule.
But Link as a King?? I doubt Zelda would just relinquish her administrative duties to someone as unqualified as Link. As I said before, Link as a symbolic demi god King with no real power is plausible but Zelda as Queen and absolute ruler with the TOW would more likely still govern the kingdom on her own. While Link would be doing his thing working closely with the Hyrule knights and checking up on the needs of the common people/races of Hyrule once in awhile.
As you have said before, Zelda would more likely be the one providing Link with the more comforting and nurturing reassurance to hand hold and guide him in doing his part in helping her co rule. Maybe I can see Link giving Zelda a pat on the back for moral support and reassurance once in awhile, but she would not need it as much from him as he needs it from her. Whereas in a theoretical LinkxMalon, Link as husband/provider would be the one being the comforter and nurturer to his wife Malon, who by your own admission is more needy of a partner/provider than the more self reliant Zelda.

This seems better suited for the case for Kingship debate, as so I won't reply. Same to any Malon stuff. We are working on the assumption here that Link IS marrying Zelda, therefore Malon is simply irrelevant.
Regardless of Link assuming a formal title, there's still likely going to be some ceremony. I think it would be better there than during a private wedding. Something about Link and Zelda's bond has always struck me as more unique and special than a ordinary relationship. And more private too. In that I see a private wedding being appropriate.
