Limestone Co. In small towns people usually know each other. People usually work with each other. And everyone always knows what is going on with everyone else. There is no doubt that Small towns just seem to have nothing to do but talk about each others business. Mostly this is because there isn’t anything else to do. But you can either feel comfort from the feeling of people knowing you, or trapped since everyone seems to know your business. It seems that it depends on what your age is in accordance to what you are feeling at the time. Most adults like the small town setting, and most teenagers want to just stab themselves in their temples to make it all end.
In a town like Limestone its things like that people just learn to live with. Because in a town like Limestone most people don’t ever leave. It could be because they seem to think they aren’t worth anything because it’s just what they have seen their parents go through. In a poverty stricken town people aren’t likely to flourish. And with a school that has gotten the lowest test scores in the state for three years in a row, it seems these kids aren’t going to be any different then there parents. Working at the local grocery store, or restaurant to get by.
Though there are those who can afford much more. The ones who live in the large houses and can afford to send their kids to the private school in the next town. The ones who seem to think they are better then the other people because they are better off then everyone else.
In Limestone the lines between the poor and rich have been drawn. They have been there since the Limestone Steel Mill closed down and most people that lived in the town were out of a job. The once flourishing town was basically shut down and those who didn’t move when they could seem to be stuck. They have kids they need to look after, and Limestone was a great place for them growing up. But it’s not the place it used to be. It’s not the home that everyone remembers and if there is any doubt of that, all you have to do is stop by and see for yourself. It’s the last place that will ever feel like home.
