Hikari from habit walked to her new school listening to her mp3 trying to conceal her nervousness. She had just arrived from America two days before. She was not used to uniforms, and felt a bit uncomfortable to be wearing a necktie and a skirt. She was used to wearing jeans everyday to school, and not worry about how you sat because no one would see anything. Now however, she had to be very careful.

Once she arrived to the entrance of her school, she looked for the locker with her name. She took off her shoes and put on the ones for school. Ugh... it's going to take a while to get used to putting shoes in my locker instead of books . Hikari took a deep breath in. She knew that she was being stared at. She just hoped that she would go through this day without making a total fool out of herself. With those thoughts in mind she headed to her new class: Class 2-A

Shuya, for some really, super odd reason even he couldn't place a finger on, was actually excited for school today. A shocker, right? Usually nobody is excited for school, but today he was. And not just school. The day in its entirety. Maybe it was Venus' alignment with Jupiter, maybe it was his good karma kicking off. Tons and tons of explanations, none of them logical. Pick one if needed, but no one knows the real reason. Shuya didn't exactly look like he was ready for school. His tie wasn't pulled up to his neck, hanging down, the slack showing. Neither of his shirts were tucked in, his undershirt sticking out from under the top layer. His hair was combed, though. But, walking to school, the wind always messes it up, making it illogical to even attempt to make the top of his head look stylish. But not trying wasn't in his playbook.

But he was listening to his very own playlist, via his iPod. Various musics were on it, nothing that important to the plot, though. Seriously, don't even think about it. Music kept Shuya on topic, concentrated, and actually increased his walking speed. Perhaps his arms started moving, imitating playing an air guitar (or drums, whichever was more interesting). And he was making good time, having left just a tad later than he usually does. Five minutes, so it wasn't going to make him late or anything. It'd just cut back on mingling time before class.

So, getting into school, waving at a few people, blah blah blah, he finally gets up to his 2-A classroom, and notices someone familiar. From, like, a really long time ago.

"Fuji?!"

Hikari had been waiting to get instructions from her teacher when she heard someone call her name. She turned around somewhat surprised that someone knew her. The last time she had been to Japan was for vacation and that had been almost eight years ago. "Mimura-kun?! Is that really you?" Ignoring the stares of the other students that casually walked by, Hikari walked straight to him. "Seriously, what's up with your uniform?! Tuck your shirt in! Fix your tie! Fix your hair!" Hikari stopped herself from saying more. "Sorry, I'm used to be reprimanding my two younger brothers," Hikari chuckled slightly. Hikari had been so nervous before, but it all went away when she saw Shuya. Her relief had been so great that her eyes teared a bit. "It's good to see you again! Heh, look at me getting all teared up because of it."

"Mimura-kun?! Is that really you?"

"In the flesh." Grinning, Shuya walked towards her as well, meeting her half-way. He'd set his bag down a while ago, sometime, when Shuya wasn't on screen. Sure, everyone else was staring at them, but screw them! They just don't have friends, and are terribly jealous of Shuya and Fuji. Everyone knows it.

"Seriously, what's up with your uniform?! Tuck your shirt in! Fix your tie! Fix your hair!

Chuckling, he shook his head defiantly. "Don't worry! I'm focused on school, like you always liked me to be. But this makes me edgy. Chicks dig it, so, yeah." This wasn't really the reason for his unready appearance. He always looked like this. Caring about his looks wasn't something he uh...cared about.

And he misheard the thing about her brothers, and just laughed. If Shuya laughed when you said something, he might not have heard you, or understood it. Watch out in the future, all of the fourth-wall breakers out there!

But, what did catch his eye was her eyes, tearing up. "Oh, hey..."

"It's good to see you again! Heh, look at me getting all teared up because of it."

To quell the tearing up of anyones eyes, Shuya, albeit out of character, wrapped his arms around his old friend and pulled her close, smiling a bit still. "Hey, don't worry. No need to shed tears over me. Besides. Don't wana have red eyes when school starts, right?" The teen was, actually, really touched she missed him that much. He wouldn't have cried, ever, being the big man he was. But, still. "I missed you, too, Hikari-san."

Hikari laughed. "No of course I wouldn't want red eyes in my first day!" Hikari has always been the sentimental one. If someone close to her got hurt, she would also. If someone was happy, she would be happy for them too. She was a girl filled with innocence and dreams.

"How long has it been since we last saw each other? I believe I was seven or eight at the time, but not quite sure." Hikari said trying to remember their last encounter. "I believe it was you that saved me when I was lost in the mall, wasn't it? You took good care of my until my mom found us." The first time they met, she had been crying while crouching on the floor. She had been so scared because no one seemed familiar. Until Shuya had shown up and offered her half of his cookie. That had made her happy, and had also calmed her down. No matter how old she was... she figured she would still be a cry-baby.

(( I guess we got a new official school thread.. Last one went into a whole new city...))

Jodie leaned out into the hallway. "Come on, students, we don't have all day," she said in English, knowing the two students she was waiting for outside the room were American. She limped back to her desk. She was thankful that Hitori-san wasn't anywhere, but she still kept her gun in her purse just in case.

The bullet wound in her leg, the doctors had said, would keep her limping for another few months, while the chest wound was clearing up. The woman wondered how happy the students were to see her back. On one hand, she had two new students from overseas joining her class today, and all her past students from before her hospital trip and dealing with her Black Organization student that had escaped from international custody with the aid of a mercenary hired by British Intelligence.

"Time for roll call," said Jodie, and she began listing the names of all the students supposed to be in her class.

"Yuu Jihara"
"Mimura Shuya"
"Fuji Hikari"
"Mouri Ran"
"Suzuki Sonoko"

The woman hoped everyone appeared for class. They'd gotten behind with an incompetent substitute that was from the Japanese school board. They had no experience in America itself.

Hikari turned around to her new teacher and became nervous again. "Y-Yes Ma'am!" She replied in English. I guess my homeroom teacher is also our English teacher... Good, because I'm still not used to Japanese. Hikari sighed. "Let's go Shuya-kun or we'll get scolded!" Hikari grabbed him by the arm and walked into the classroom.

Yuu rushed down the stairs from the roof where he was for the past thirty minutes talking to his buddies. He didn’t want to be late, but a quick glance at his watch, he doubted he would be able to keep his word. “K’so…” he cursed, running as fast as his legs cold carry him down the stairs.

What would the sensei make him do if he stepped into the front door late?

Reaching to the class, Yuu slowly pulled open the door in the back of the classroom, secretly tip-toeing to his seat. Hopefully the sensei wouldn’t see…. All he needed to do was to find an empty chair and hope she would tell him to get to his seat. Finding one, he sat himself down beside Mimura Shuya, looking away from him in case he snitched.

"How long has it been since we last saw each other? I believe I was seven or eight at the time, but not quite sure."

"So, what? Ten years? That's nothing! I barely noticed you were gone!" Aha, all lies. Shuya hadn't really made any other close friends since she left. So, naturally, he missed her pretty bad. All is well now, though! She's back. Probably forever. Yay!

"I believe it was you that saved me when I was lost in the mall, wasn't it? You took good care of my until my mom found us."

"Yeah, I gave you my cookie, too. You still owe me for that, y'know." He grinned and ruffled her hair some, probably angering her while doing so, but, it was an action of endearment. She probably knew that. Or she better. And hey, it's just hair. Girls always carry combs around and...oh, wait. Stereotypes aren't good! Maan.

"Come on, students, we don't have all day,"

Shuya's English was a tad rusty. That sub hadn't helped at all. Who knew that a school administration couldn't get a competent substitute? Or decent food at lunch time. Maybe this teacher, who sounded more competent from one sentence than the sub did from however long they were here from before.

"Let's go Shuya-kun or we'll get scolded!"

"Kay, fine." Sounding reluctant to go, Hikari-chan must've picked up on that, since she dragged him in by his arm into the classroom, although he broke free from her death-grip to find his own seat, sitting down, the ready-for-school attitude already broken down into a well-at-least-I-can-make-it-through-the-day thought process. "Hai." Shuya announced when roll was taken, making his presence known, so he wasn't marked absent or anything.

But when Jihara Yuu showed up late, after roll, Shuya had a choice to tell the sub about it, or ignore the kid completely. He chose the latter, since he'd probably be discovered anyways. So, he turned his head away from his side to his other side, where, low and behold, Hikari-Chan was sitting. And yes, he could call her chan. She was born six months after him, in the summer. He was a winter baby. Alright?

So, Shuya was there in the middle, between Hikari and Yuu. Let the class begin!

((lolk so shuya is totally japanese kthnx))

Geez... now what am I supposed to do with my hair? Shuya-kun just had to ruffle it. Hikari thought a bit annoyed with her hair. She wasn't annoyed at Shuya. She has always had a problem with her hair, only that Shuya had made it worst, but she didn't care about that. I should probably start that habit of carrying a comb or brush with her. Hikari sat next to Shuya, and as she listened to her teacher give roll call, she noticed someone slip in as quiet as a sly cat. She also noticed that he had sat next to Shuya and quickly turned his face away from him. Shuya did the same ignoring the boy that had just come in.

Hikari decided to write a note to Shuya, since he looked like he was going to die of boredom right there and now, and only five minutes had passed since class had begun. She ripped the paper from her notepad and wrote a small letter to him.

The letter only held one question: Wanna do something after school is over? happy.gif

As she handed the note secretly to him, she waited for him to give her a reply, and hoped for dear life the teacher wouldn't catch her passing notes, because that was something she was the most unlucky.

Well, class was starting slow. The teacher kinda hadn't said anything yet, she was still writing all of her junk down, so, apparently, Hikari got the idea to pass him notes. How cliche was that, right? Then again, it wasn't following strict formula, so it can't be categorized as such. Anyways, Shuya unfolded the note and read its contents.

Wanna do something after school is over?

Shuya writes back, his handwriting still God-awful:
Sure. I guess. Meet me at the front doors. Kay?

Engaging in stealth, Shuya deftly hands the note back, being sneaky at the same time.

Hikari let out a sigh of relief when Shuya received the letter without catching the attention of their teacher. She noticed Shuya writing back, and quickly passing her the note. You haven't improved your handwriting a bit. Hikari chuckled slightly. Seriously, he surely was the Shuya she had met a long time ago, and he surely haven't changed one bit, except for height-wise that is.

Hikari decided to concentrate on class for now, although she was now completely excited about their plans after school. She believed it to be wise to pay attention to her teacher since she didn't want to get scolded on her first day there.

Jodie marked Sonoko and Ran late, then turned to the class, seeing that the two students already thought that they could get away with foolery. "Shuya-san, Hikaru-san!" She said, keeping a firm tone, "Lets bring the messages up here. I don't need this on Hikari's first day," the woman finished.

"The message I gave at the beginning of the year is that I'm a firm teacher, who doesn't let anything go against class rules. I ask respect. If I can't get that, I'll teach you to show it. Is that understood? I will protect my class, understand that. I want you both to know that I held a leave of absence for the reasons being that I took two bullets protecting my students. That alone should say I can be trusted as your teacher, as someone safe. But you should respect those who can be trusted to protect your lives, or I'll show you the same disrespect that I was showed. Now bring the messages up here and you'll be given a punishment." Jodie had noticed some of the words on the messages, even if she was in glasses, they were in the front row, "And keep your date discussion on your own time. Understood?"

Hikari stood up quickly after hearing Jodie-sensei snap at her and at Shuya. I knew this was going to happen... why do I have such bad luck with passing notes when others can do so, so easily?

When Jodie-sensei told her to give her the notes she had exchanged with Shuya she knew what was coming. Hikari's face had turned a slight reddish color, it wasn't that noticeable, but she was ashamed that she had been caught. However her face completely reddened when Jodie-sensei made the comment that she and Shuya were going to go on a date. "W-We're not like that sensei," Hikari whispered still completely embarrased, "He is only going to show me around, since I just moved to Tokyo." Hikari was looking at the ground not daring to lift her face to those of the other students that must be amused by her actions.

"Regardless," Jodie continued on, "Notes shall not be passed in my class. And I have the eyes of a hawk, just ask Yuu-san. Now please bring them up here. Shuya, you as well. Come on, before I pull out a gun," she finished with a grin, and pulled out a lighter, holding it behind her back.
