Yes yes its a pc game but I feel it is affecting the Table top game as well. Some good conversions, Campaign ideas, and fluff come out of these games. Not to mention being able to hear characters actually speak in character in the 40k/WHFB games.
Found 2 trailers and wiki site says they are adding DE into the mix along with another race that has yet to be decided. Wiki Site Teaser I Teaser II Note, this is an entirley new game and not a 3rd X-PAC. If they ad nids, then wouldnt they have all the races except for witch hunters? Though not all the units are playable, seems like 40k and soon WHFB are expanding tremendously into PC games. ![]() Would this affect some players (other than the 'ardiest core players of course) to quit the table top? -------------------- |

WOW, cool. Thanks for the links, i hadn't heard of it yet. I played all the games from the series and they are all very nice to play. So i will certainly play this one when it comes out.
It's hard to estimate what the effect will be of such a game on the tabletop community. Maybe more people will start playing 40k, maybe people will stop or ofcourse both. I don't know if any research has been done on it's effects, but i guess GW will keep it a secret if they did research it. Really cool man! I really like the work they did to the Ork video, he looks pretty good. The Space Marine, not so much. Hes ok.
The Witch Hunters really arent their own army, they are more of a coalition of three armies, the Ordo Hereticus, the Ordo Malleus and the Ordo Xenos. --------------------

The witch hunters are the Ordo Hereticus. The Ordo Malleus are the Grey Knights.
If only they did a Tau teaser... -------------------- "It saddens me greatly that we must take arms against the peoples of the galaxy. By their deaths they deny themselves the liberation that is only to be found in total surrender to the Greater Good."

Hmm, perhaps they might do a SM special army. One that isnt a vanilla SM force I mean. Like SW or White Scars(all bikes). Most likely not, but its still a possibility. Or maybe a squat army
Wouldn't mind seeing a Ordo Hereticus army. Doubt it will be GK as they are part of the SM army now. Then again it is DoW 2 so they might completely redesign the army choices. Take out certain units and put new ones in. Would be intresting seeing melta weapons and rail rifles in the game. -------------------- |

From what i've heard they are going to do Dark Eldar and the Inquisition. This is all rumors just off of scrolling the web, this is suposedly a summary that a relic rep gave to a questioning fan a week or two ago, how valid it is i dont know but here's his description of the armies:
" Inquisition: -Inquisitor: The main center of your army with a massive plethora of psychic powers and wargear to choose from along with an honor guard of minions from an entire squad of power-weapon hardy crusaders, to massive gun servitors, to minions to enhance the inquisitor himself. So much so based around him that he will have his own building that you will need to create to research all the trim of him. -Basic Troop types: You will have the very basic run of the mill Inquisitorial Storm Troopers as your core troops who will be slightly more impressive than the Kasirkin of the IG but with no limit to unit numbers. You will also have a choice to recruit a certain number of either basic space marines or imperial guard infantry with no wargear options and from randomized chapters. -Advances: At this point when your basic force centered around your inquisitor is established and you base is up and running you will get to the second tier and have to choose between your "beacon building" where you will either choose the Ordo Hereticus which will provide access to the Sisters of Battle and all of the Whitch hunters fun choices, or the Ordo Malleus which will do the same only for the Grey Knights. Also in DoW2 Grey knights may or may not be available to the space marines if the game chooses to go in this direction. Dark Eldar: -Dark Eldar Lord: a commander that may be as important or as meaningless as you want him to be depending on how much you choose to invest in him. A fully decked out Lord with full Incubii guard and a Haemoculus minion all thrown onto a fully decked out raider will end up very expensive but extremely deadly in the right circumstances. -Dark Eldar Warriors: Minimal ranged weapons options are allowed for the basic squads but that is all saved up for the bone-jarring special units. Warriors are many and fragile and very vulnerable to ranged fire but given the circumstances can deal massive damage. That is where the raider is incorporated. Not taking up any vehicle points to produce and extremely cheep throw a full group of warriors in there and fly them in quick, and strike hard. -Vehicles: The Ravager is a big core vehicle and we have chosen to make the Talos a vehicle choice dark eldar vehicles are only as good as you will make them. Fit them for either armor fighting or infantry but they cannot take much of a beating so be quick to the strike. They are very cheep however. -Specials: All your favorite elites are hear and the wytches make khorne berserkers look like gretchin. but all these fancy things are very expensive and slow to produce but are very worth it if outfitted with enough flash. " That all sounds good to me dont know how legit it is tho. The Inquisition army sounds hecka fun and really unique. On the other topic, i hate the trailers, if there's not fighting, it's not warhammer....where there is ONLY war. -------------------- Ninjas R' Awesome

Very very very nice. It's coming out in early 2008, man i cant wait! Although the two new races are really cool, i think i will like the air units best. Thanks for the link!

I wouldn't say "new" parse, however I have seen game play pics of Battle sisters using melta and multi-melta guns. I like the way they are depicting it than the way Fire warrior did. In fire warrior it seemed like a steam thrower (like a flame thrower but with steam) in this version the meltas seem to fire a stream of lava (this is of course how it looks right now not necessarily at release) its cool though, imagine a fire hose (multi melta) or a super soaker (melta gun) that shoots out streams of lava!
