Only 13 days left till the new website is launched, but still some things have to be done regarding the technical side of it all. My question however is about content. The website will offer the option for every member to post their own blogs, also called user journals. I wondered how many people already blog, about what or if people dont already blog, about what would you be willing to blog?
Some subject that could be blogged about regarding 40k could be: - a big project converting models and painting them, giving an update regularly on the progres - a campaign that needs some story - the daily life of a fictional character - a selfmade comic - ... Could it also be an option for members to blog about personal 'real life' things? Please think with me here for a moment. I've never blogged before and don't really "get" it, but being able to post serialized fiction of some sort, be it short fiction, campaign fluff, comics or something else we haven't thought of sounds pretty cool.
On the message boards people seem to regularly start blogs tracking a modeling project or collecting a new army. Not many people finish those blogs, but that's another story. It seems to me that this would be a good place for battle reports. I suspect that once the ability is in place, the members will come up with all sorts of creative uses for it. -------------------- Once Upon A Midnight Dreary...

I would love to do the daily life of a fictional character. It would be so much fun to do it with a Tau Fire Warrior.

well, i think you know i already blog (although, have not had chance to get much done recently). so i personally wouldn't make use of the system. (for those of you that dont, the links in my sig)
however, that said, i think you should allow people to blog about what ever they want, as long as they dont break the rules of course. as i think restricting things to "hobby only" would just create negative feelings. that said, i think it will mainly be used for hobby stuff, seeing as if someone wants a general "what i ate today" blog they will probably already have one on somewhere like wordpress.com IIRC the system your using restricts users to one blog per person. if it doesnt, then i think it would be best to have a rule restricting each user to only having one blog each, to stop there being loads of blogs that are rarely updated on the topic of rules, do you have any plans to revise them as the new system wont be under the (draconian) restrictions invisionfree have -------------------- "Una salus victus nullam sperare salutem"

The rules will absolutely be completely revised. There are so many new things, some of them require some rules, some don't. But you must think more in the line of how to use certain services instead of real restrictions. The most rules are common sense: no porn, violence, racism. But don't be afraid of such rules, KT will still be the open, friendly community it has always bin
The system i'm using will allow members multiple blogs. I can see your point in having blogs that won't be active, but i can imagine that if you want to blog about a certain project, that you want to do it in a sepperate blog, to make it easier to find back. I mean, if you give it a recognizable title, you will be able to spot it more easily in the list of blogs of one user, instead of having to go through all the blog-entries he made to find the right entries about that one project. Thanks for you feedback, i guess the blog system will be used, so i'll leave it in. (only 8 more days till launch!) I agree completely about multiple blogs. I'll want one for army construction and others for different pieces of fiction and one for any big mega conversion projects I do (like scratch building a manta).
