Does anyone else think we got pretty screwed over in Apocalypse? I mean we only got 2 new units, both of which we already had in Forgeworld stuff, and only 2 battle formations, and those seem pretty weak to me.

Yeah, D3 free markerlight hits a turn is nice, and our formations don't cost many points, but the imperial formations get loads of extra strategic assets or their tanks can ignore some damage results.

It just feels to me like we got hosed.

Yeah, GW hates the Tau and Dark Eldar. Both get screwed over in every expansion of the game.

I kind of like the massed hordes of suits though. It looks like fun. Maybe I will try it.

About all the Rapid Insertion Force does is deep strike well, and my experience has been that suits that deep strike get killed.

I always have much better luck deploying my suits and moving them up quickly, behind cover.

Maybe on one of those big apocalypse boards though it would work better.

Yeah it probably would work better on a bigger board.

Though I don't use deep strike often, Deep Strike isn't just about putting units in behind the enemy as I see it. A proper Deep Strike can put some new firepower in a convenient location for you to cause some damage. Deep Striking units to flank (not necessarily behind) the enemy. Use missle pods for range firing so you don't need to be right up against them.

Deep Strike doesn't always = suicide.

the tau haven't been screwed IMO but what you have to consider is this. In anormal game you cannot afford to deepstrike suits in just for them to be killed but in large apocalypse battles it is more a case of errrm im going to lose lots of stuff anyway by putting my suits first in line can i make the sacrifice worth the points?

Also GW have loads of data sheets in the works so you can expect more stuff to come out maybe even some new allies or at least rules for old ones :>

Who knows Seriously its just about a new way of thinking. I have had to change my Eldar army so suit apocalypse better and it does just fine try and get a few games in and try different things out.

Buy a Manta... biggrin.gif
Or add in a some Gue'vesa troops and Guevessa BaneBlade... Hmm Model a BaneBlade with RailCannons?
The TigersharksAX-1-0 could do the trick as well.
Titan Killing Rail Guns.

The insertion force is amazing, i played it against my friend's chaos army, lets just say I loaded em with plasma and come the third turn or so... those berserkers holding the right flank were not in good shape.

I dont think the tau got scrued over, big games is kindof where the tau really shine anyway. Plus you can take any of the normal strategic assets that anyone else can take. Along with that, you can use any unit now, so I plan to buy a baneblade for my Gue'vesa devision i'm gonna be starting. Also there is no force organisation chart, so when we threw armies together a couple weeks back to do a teams apoc battle. My army consisted of 12 crisis suits, my commander, 6 broadsides, and 4 hammerheads.

I have yet to play with a baneblade at the side of my tau army. Oh well, maybe one day...
