I dont think any non contract players can sign up before July 1.

Were any of last seasons squad contracted or were they all simply registered?

Pretty sure you're right on the July 1 date. I believe all were registered not contracted.

Walker must be on contact then, hard to believe in their situation and a risk with daves injury, risk versus reward, but if he stays fit ,he is certain to finish top scorer in the league

Not necessarily, you can still "sign" for a club without a contract. But then you're within your rights to go somewhere else until your registered.

I seem to remember Leek got themselves in a bit of a pickle last season on their website by announcing signings that hadn't registered. They took the names down, but not before it was all over this forum!

I see Kings Lynn seem to be following Leek's example.

Their top summer signing was heralded on their website but he has now decided to bugger off to Corby.

It seems that their location is working against them and they are having to improve their squad from the best of the locals out of the UCL level 5 clubs.

They may not be as strong as it might be suspected.

Yes, I noticed some of the optimism seems to be draining away on their forum and they're lowering their sights a little now.

I still think they'll be up there though.

I dont think they will struggle by any means but I suspect they may not be any better than play-off contenders.

Whilst on the subject of other clubs, it seems the returning manager at Stamford is signing up every player who has ever played for him in the past plus the bog standard keeper from Grantham.

Difficult to judge if they have gone quantity over quality. They havent done a lot that suggests they have addressed their awful defence.

Stamford always seem to start each season in a blaze of publicity with sponsorship deals here and new signings there, but never come up with the goods. Maybe this year will be different, but not convinced.

Lest you forget that by the end of the night, you may have the majority of last seasons squad, Mr Ward and Mr Buckle back in situ.......... :o

No invite for any fans then?

The right decision needs to be made tonight, this could go incredibly pear shaped.
