Problems found, and the solutions implemented

Right, so as some of you may have noted, we have some lovely porn mongers stalking our board.

The past offenders have been banned, as I saw no reason at all not to ban a username created just to come and spam my forums. That ban has also been extended to cover common factors of the offenders.

Now as with all bans of this sort, there could be repercussions on people not associated with the banned users or their activities. If you find suddenly when you log-in or try to register that you can't get to the board, please let me or my co-admin Jaehral know and we will do our best to rectify the problem. However I don't think the way that the ban was setup that it should affect any of our loyal visitors This is simply a formality just in case.

Secondly, I have set up a help forum in the OOC sector. If you find you can't login for some reason, or you have any other technical difficulties with the forums, please feel free to post there and I, or one of the other admins, will do my best to assist you.

They're just bots/automated posters. Judging by name format and registration pattern, it's on a registration cycle, and isn't 100% when it comes to the bot actually posting.

The odds of there being an actual person behind them is slim, at best. And odds of the names being re-used are nil.

I turned on the Email Validation switch for new registration.

That'll work for now. I had simply blocked the common domain on the e-mail addresses thus far. That should prevent them from signing up if the e-mail addys are all coming from that one domain as they have thus far.

And they're trying to come back apparently...

New solutions have been implemented. New members will be in their own group for a while and only have posting access to a few forums. Once I know who you are and that your purpose isn't just to spam uselessly, I will happily promote you out of the new members group and make you an official Iridethian at which point you will have full posting access just like any normal member

To that end I'll consider setting up a introduction forum in the spam section for that purpose.

And as a warning, if I see someone sign up and I don't know who you are and you don't post, I will likely impose a moderator preview until I see what your intentions are. Again, this is to cut back on the useless pr0n threads popping up lately. Once I know who you are and/or see that you aren't here purely to spam, I'll be glad to make you a full member
