WELCOME: ANNOUNCEMENTS: ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF:
Welcome to Irideth, an online message board community for role-players roleplaying in the Irideth setting. Irideth is a prime material world currently being developed. Currently the lands are being mapped out and the history written. This goal of this in-depth setting is to allow for as much role-playing and character development as dice-rolling and monster killing.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the Irideth community and will visit frequently. Watch this header for announcements and important links, and please visit again soon. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to direct them to me at draggyness@wmconnect.com

For now this will be posted up as I think of it. I will organize it when I have a chance.
  • Prime(s), the - One or more of the five primal forces which drive the multiverse. They are Balance, Havoc, Order, Creation, and Destruction. Each prime has its strengths and weaknesses and each has come to be associated with certain images of morality and ethicality, though in truth all five are neutral. They are considered dieties, but are not themselves actively worshipped. Instead each prime has manifested an avatar of itself based on how most mortals perceive them (i.e. Creation is manifested as Irisiva, a goddess of creation and kindness and generally considered to be good). These five primes are the driving force behind the Eternal War.
  • Eternal War, the - Known by many names including the War of the Primes, the eternal war is the conflict between the five primes, the struggle for dominance in power. Though in truth no prime could exist without the other.
  • First War, the - The first physical incarnation of the Eternal War which led to the Descent.
  • Descent, the - Also called the Decline or the Waning, it is the immortal name for the punishment meted out to the planars who were undecided. Their indecision meant that the war could not be ended thus the Prime of Balance decreed that they would descend to the very battleground they fought on and become mortal until they could find their true path.
  • Primal Children, the - Though some believe this term is actually interchangeable with 'planar', the Primal Children are actually the very first planars created by the Primes during the First War. Most of the Primal Children either made their choice before the Descent or have already ascended back to either become planars or the very gods themselves.
  • Lorn, the - Description forthcoming.
  • Irideth - "The Trial of True Colors", the ascient name given to the battleground where the undecided were banished during the Descent and thereby forced to live out their mortal lives.
  • Undecided - the planars of the First War who were cursed to live out their lives in mortality until they could choose which side they would fight for. The undecided eventually devolved into the races which populate Irideth today. The history of their supernatural origins has been lost along with their immortality, part of the curse which forces them to find their inner self on their own.
  • Ascended - 1) Undecided mortals who pass the trial and ascend once again to the ranks of the immortal planars. 2) Those undecided who not only managed to ascend, but gained the spark of divinity along the way so that they could guide their undecided brethren in a more direct manner than their planar kin. While mortals who pass the trial are just general referred to as 'ascended', those who become deities are often respectfully called "Ascended Ones" by those who know the truths of their origins.
Please note that since setting material is still being written, these are subject to change, but most should stay the same once posted up here smile.gif

These are terms that are currently being used or considered but may change.
  • Planars - Collective term for the paerigal, viscitu, jharn, aevyrn, and nyriquis. Those who have been through Irideth and made their decision thereby passing the trial
  • Paerigal - planars of balance, children of the Prime of Harmony. Sometimes called the Aloof, especially by other planars who view them as aloof from the intricacies of the eternal war.
  • Viscitu - planars of chaos, children of the Prime of Havoc. Better known as the dissenders for obvious reasons.
  • Jharn - planars of law, children of the Prime of Order. Better known as the prefects.
  • Aevyrn - planars of good, children of the Prime of Creation. Better known as celestials.
  • Nyriquis - planars of evil, children of the Prime of Destruction. Better known as fiends.
