The disciple describe in this book can ultimately help us spiritual beings draw closer to our creator, and utilize the discipline listed to conque our nature.
Here are some parts that I enjoy!

One Meditation:
"MEditation is really very simple and there is not much need of elaborate techniques to teach us how to go out it. "

The purpose of Meditation: - "It is to have detachment from the confusion all around us in order to have richer attachment to God" who brings peace and rest.

Second purpose of Meditatoin: "In meditation we are growing into a familiar friendship with Jesus. We are sinking down into the light and life of Christ and becoming comfortable in that posture."

Here is the best part that I like:
"If you feel that we live in a purely physical universe, you will view meditation as a good way to obtain a consistent alpha brain-wave pattern. But if you believe that we live in a universe created by the infinite-personal God who delights in our communion with him, you will see meditation as communication between the lover and the one beloved."

On Disciplines:
- not laws we must obey, because we can not.

Purpose of Disciplines: Story outline
" A farmer is helpless to grow grain; all he can do is provide the right conditions for the growing of grain. He cultivates the ground, he plants the seed, he waters the plants, and then natural forces of the earth take over and up comes the grain. This is the way it is with the Spiritual Disciplines ---- They are a way of sowing to the spirit. The Disciplines are God's way of getting us into the ground; they put us where he can work within us and transform us. "
