11.8.09 Alright guys, I know that things have been a bit slow here in Illyria, but don't give up yet! This site is alive and kicking, and I assure you that the Staff won't be letting her go down without a fight!
8.29.09 It seems as though Illyria will be having a lot more pets! Calix and Valiant’s Code of Chivalry clutch is hatching here, while Nensa and Vorse’s pups are impressing here. Send some characters in if you want a chance at a new pet! Also, a big congrats to Emmeth for winning Rinaelyth’s flight. I'm sure everyone is interested in knowing how J'kon will do as Vanadium's new Weyrleader!
8.17.09 First I would like to congratulate all of our new Weyrlings! Don’t forget that now that this hatching is over, the Senior Queen at Vanadium is currently rising. This is going to determine Vanadium’s new Weyrleader, so hurry and get those chasers in there.

Weyrbowl
Located in the center of the Weyr, the Weyrbowl is in the middle of the courtyard. It's one of the lowest places in the Weyr, as well as one of the busiest.

Riders Weyrs
Once a rider graduates from the Weyrling Barracks, they will be assigned to a weyr of their own. The weyrs are located in the steep cliffs that surround the Weyr Bowl. The largest weyrs are located at the very top, where the smallest weyrs are located at the bottom. Each room includes a room for the rider, which consists of a bed and trunk for their belongings, a ledge for their dragon, and a small bathing area where water collects due to a natural spring from within the mountains.

The Infirmary
The Infirmary is one of the largest weyrs in the cliffs, which has been taken over to be used for healing. There are several beds in here, a larger bathing area, and the large ledge is big enough to fit several of the smaller dragons. This is where all of the healing herbs are kept, and the healers reside within the Infirmary in a small section of the room separate from where the sick beds are.

Lower Caverns
The lower caverns are located below ground, and can be accessed from the tunnels that go deep into the mountains. The dimly lit hallways can be a bit hard to navigate until you know your way around. Supplies are kept down here, and the kitchens and wher handler rooms are down here as well.

Weyrling Barracks
Located just above the Lower Caverns, and underneath all the Rider's Weyrs, are the Weyrling Barracks. These house the newly bonded weyrling pairs. The Weyrling Barracks are really one big room, but it is separated down the middle by a thick maroon curtain- separating the girls side of the barracks from the boys. This means there is little privacy- for the girls share a room with all the girls, and the boys share with all the boys, but it is a temporary home. There is a large ledge that the dragons can lounge on, but it is close enough to the ground that should any of them try to fly, they wouldn't be terribly hurt if they crashed. The weyrlings share a single bathing area.

Corrals
These are located near the Weyr Bowl and the candidate barracks. They are in a canyon, with fences filling in where the steep cliff walls are missing. There is a small stable, which consists of a roof and three walls, but the majority is open grazing land for the herdbeasts and runner beasts. The cliffs have several ledges on them, which make good perches for male dragons as they wait for a rising female to feed.

Candidate Barracks
These are not within the mountain that contains the lower caverns and riders weyrs, they instead are in a separate building near the corrals. The candidate barracks are small, and made out of wood, much like a log cabin. Each room is capable of holding two candidates, and the barracks are split in half for boys and girls. In the center of the barracks is a common room, which separates the girls and boys rooms.

Hatching Caverns
The Hatching Sands are located just off of the Weyr Bowl. They are on ground level, and the sands the cavern are filled with radiate warmth. Above the ground entrance is a ledge, where dragons can enter with their riders. The ledge runs all the way around the wide cavern, providing a perch for the dragons and their riders to use as they watch the hatching proceed down below.

Wher Handler Dens
Tunnels accessible through outside means and through a few inner corridors of the Weyr. Here, all of the whers and their bondeds reside, safe from the heat of the outside world.
Each Queen's Den is two dens put together, one of the dens cleared out entirely and covered in sand for her own clutches. No wher will ever brave the heat of the Dragon Hatching Caverns.

Weyrling & Wherling Lessons
Near the corrals and lake is a large, grassy clearing where Weyrling and Wherling Lessons take place. The location is easy to reach by foot and is much quieter than the busy Weyr.

Dragon's Ledge
Running along the top of the weyr is a ledge, warmed by the sun and worn by the press of many dragon bodies. Here dragons can lay, perch, or sit comfortably while catching rays...and gossiping about Theirs, others, and current Weyr happenings. The best part about it? It's for dragons, and maybe flitters, only.

The Mountains
The mountains that house and surround Illyria Weyr are dangerous and hard to navigate on foot. There are several treacherous cliffs and caves, and it's hard to climb them, especially when the peaks are covered in snow. Weyrlings are banned from the surrounding mountains because of how dangerous they can be.

The Lake
The Lake is located near Illyria Weyr, in a natural bowl formed in the mountains. It can be reached easily through the air, but a path that starts near the corrals also leads to the lake. The lake is full of water, and a river feeds into the lake. But the river is higher than the lake, and creates a small two foot drop where the water falls down into the lake. In the winter, sometimes the lake freezes over, but in the summer, the water is nice to relax in.

Evariste Hold
Evariste hold is a large hold located between Vanadium Weyr and Illyria Weyr. They are located between the two mountain ranges, and are a fairly neutral hold that refuses to pick between the two.

From those wondrous mountains to the lush forests to the cool spring waters, Pern is a majestic landmass filled with amazing places to visit. Beware caves that may house wild whers, or the grasses where the feral felines roam. Don't forget to visit the beautiful beaches where you might have the fortune of being able to swim with dolphins!

Weyrbowl
The epicenter of Vanadium Weyr, they have a beautiful stone Weyrbowl that is one of the busiest places in the Weyr. You can reach anywhere in the Weyr from here.

Main Weyr
The main part of Vanadium Weyr is a cliff that curves around the Weyrbowl. Unlike Illyria Weyr, which is a circle around the Weyrbowl, the cliff is a semi circle.

Riders Weyrs
Dotting the rugged mountain cliffside, the Rider's weyrs face the Weyrbowl. The smallest Weyrs are closest to the ground, while the gold Weyrs are at the very top of the cliff. Natural springs provide water for each room, so each room comes with a small bathing chamber. They also come with a ledge for a dragon, a bed and a chest for the rider's belongings.

Hatching Caverns
An underground passage large enough for a gold to enter leads to the hatching sands. The main area is devoted to the sands, where the hatching takes place. There is enough space for hundreds of dragons and their riders to come watch the hatching, without disturbing the moody mothers.
