Hi all.
I'm new to this site but not to Ilkeston. Both of my parents came from there, and We lived there in the early 1960's. I was born here in New Zealand but still remember my days in the Town in my childhood. I usede to attend Chaucer School and do remember a couple of friends from those days. Megan Argent, and Paul Clay who I wrote to for ages until the years rolled on and we lost contact. I do remember he lived at 9 Wrigley Avenue. I was wondering if anyone was still around Ilkeston who remember me. David Ellis is the name. I remember just before I left Ilkeston, Megan and I grew close, but we wre only 8 years old at the time. I'm sure that with a little thought I could rattle off the whole class roster. I do remember the great school lunches that cost a shilling then. Chaucer had no grass but the soccer at break times was a buzz. I also remember Darringtons Dairy where we would get our half-penny ice-blocks from at lunch times. Now come on you Ilkestonians of 1963 to 1966is that remember those days, and me if thats possible. It would be great to hear from you all. Cheers from NZ. |
