I am definitely joining. I am making an effort to learn more about mythical creatures, like origin, what they do, and things like that.

Yes, I've been fascinated with them ever since I was little, and I've always researched informations and facts about mythical creatures, so I know quite a bit. One creature I see that lacks attention a lot is the Roc. The Roc is a giant bird, the limits there aren't very big, so it can be in many colors I believe.

Another creature I love is the Centaur. The half horse-half human! I've always loved horses since I was extremely little, so I truly grew curious with these creatures. The have the body of a horse (including limbs) and the upper body and continued of a human. So perhaps they have two hearts and chests? XP Moving on, they're great warriors in battle, have you ever read (or seen) Narnia? That movie shows a great example of Centuars!

I read that they feed elephants to their young, which got me thinking how BIG They were.

I could go on with a lsit of Mythical creature I know, and yes, I saw Narnia on My Birthday.

Anyone(Not including Luna xD) ever read Dragonrider?

Yes, a lot of people can list of the names of mythical creatures, but can you actually say where each originated from, their purpose? That is what I want to know.

Funny you mention that, my friend began reading Dragon Rider not even a week ago. Also, you must read some of Cornellia Funke's stories, like Inkheart, Inkspell, and The Thief Lord to name a few.

Oh and Luna, I meant to read all of those because I was soo interested, but saddly, I still have to finish reading three books right now, and that doesn't seem to be happeneing thanks to school. I suggest reading The Lightning Thief. No, not because of the title XP Because it's such a good book!

It's about a boy named Percy Jacksons (I believe that was his last name) and he has to go through many conflicts and such involving mythical creatures, mostly surrounding Greek mythology. He also turns out to be a demi-god. Anyway, I'll be quiet now ^.-.^


And now that I think about it, I'm actually reading four books. The two sequels to The Lightning Thief came out without me, and I still need to read them @.-.@ I'm currently on The Sea of Monsters.

The Lightning Thief? I'll keep my eye out for it. Since I live in a rural area, and our library is not well stocked with books that I like(no offense meant, I love a lot of the books in there! There's just not enough of them though!) it is difficult to get my hands on any books.

Currently, I have a few series/books I am reading:

The Subtle Knife(sequel to the must read, The Golden Compass, and yes a movie is coming out about the book x3)
The Land of Eylon: The Dark Hills Divide(haven't started yet)
Pendragon series(I need The Quillian Games badly!)
And lastly, the book I have on my Christmas wishlist is New Moon by Stephene Meyer. I looooooved Twilight when I read it last year. ^^

Aaanyway, going off topic, though all those books fit into the fantasy category. Favourite mythical creature?

Mine is not really from any myth or lore, it is mostly just a creature made up by itself, a winged wolf. Two years ago, I would draw nothing but winged wolves.

I don't have favorites....But I LOVE dragons, Rocs, Griffons, Hippogriffs, and others. Seriously. I also love winged things. Doesn't really matter what, but IT NEEDS WINGS. I'm like addicted to wings, really. XP


I'll also keep my eye open for those books, they sound quite interesting ^.-.^
