Greeting!, Introduction

Greetings. I am Sergeant at Arms for The Charles Howard IBM Ring 92 in Vancouver, Canada. I am partial to card magic, and am interested in Faro shuffles in particular, though I also do other types of close-up magic. As I write this I am practising Paul Harris' Twilight. I am developing a Western Gambler type act, but also have a persona as a traditional wizard. I am a friend of Laura's and found the site through her. It is very exciting to learn and hear about the doings of another Ring! We have monthly meetings, as well as two banquets per year, a picnic, a competition for Children's Magic in an auditorium. Our meetings are generally a lecture by a member, or a sharing of tricks and ideas surrounding a theme. Then we have a short business meeting, a break with food, and a competition. These each have a trophy and are different every month - stage, close-up, cards, humour, etc. We also have a Halloween event, a night of initiation for new members and a yearly auction. These meetings follow different forms. We have approximately 150 members.

Hey, Denzil! Glad to see you put up an avatar. I haven't told many people about this forum yet, so it's probably going to be quiet a while (hence few replies).

Wanted to let you know I implemented your suggestion about trade opportunities and all. Thank you for bringing it up! After some moving things around, I added a subsection for sales and trade, as well as a subsection for donations.

Do you have a defining moment where you knew you wanted to pursue magic? Or any other stories to tell us? ;)

Welcome to the forum. I am the webmaster and secretary of IBM Ring 81.

I'm partial to card magic as well. Although; I do enjoy using flash paper, too.

It sounds as though you really have a nice club in Canada.
